Reward,
I'm so sorry to hear you are stressed about the results of your test. Did they say why your odds came back at that level? The measurements from the ultrasound were really good so was it solely based on blood work?

This is such a tricky thing because of course we all want reassurance but do remember this was only a screening and it's by no means a diagnosis. And also, 1 in 130 may sound scary but like Tams said that is still LESS THAN 1%. Try to think of it this way, you have a 99% chance of everything being perfect and I'm sure it will be.

Are you going ahead with CVS today? I hope it goes well and the results put your mind at ease. I'll be thinking of you.

Thanks Tams and Steph for your well wishes. I didn't have the CVS. It is just too controversial and it worried me that they were saying that today was the last day b/c I'd be 12 weeks 6 days (that's inaccurate - per the way my ultrasounds are going) so, there was no way I was going to do that with the risk that I might face. We decided to have the amnio on June 25th and that way we'll know every thing. I don't feel in my heart that there's anything wrong. I also read some scholarly articles online regarding the nuchal/blood test and IVF patients. It stated that more research needs to be done with IVF patients using ICSI and the blood tests that they use to screen.

That's right, nothing was said to be wrong with the scan but the plug in my age, the baby's age, the nape of the neck measure and the factors from my blood work and it gives a stat to come up with that 1/130. Plus, you have to think that the control group in which that stat is measuring me will have very few people that just wanted the test done at age 32, it will be more likely to be persons that have a prior history or some reason to think that they are going to have something wrong. So, like you said, I am focusing on the fact that 129 babies with that stat wouldn't have Down's and only 1 would... Please pray for us though!

Hi ladies, Sorry I have been MIA for weeks. I went to a conference for 2 weeks and playing catch up at home and work since then. Reward I'm sorry about your numbers.......as you said the worry never ends. I go for my nuchal scan on Friday and am very anxious about it. I have a doppler for home and I listen to the baby's heartbeat every night and that helps to give me piece of mind. Getting past 12 weeks is such a releif!!
Like many of you I have been holding off on exercise but I'm definitely ready to get restarted. I'm starting to feel so much better so hopefully that will help me to get things going.

:D  :D Fourteen Weeks and One day :D  :D

Its 3 30 o'clock in the morning and I am wide awake. Mainly because I am pissed off. Had to spend a week with the in laws who came over from Spain to see us. They took us to the Isle of Wight for the weekend as they were invited to a wedding there.

On the way DH mother anounced she had caught a really bad cold she thinks on the plane. Not her fault I know but they had the air conditioning going in the car blowing her germs into the back and all the the way there (4 hours) she caughed and sneezed.

By the next day she could hardly breathe she was so ill. But still they wanted to be with us all the time and I could hardly say - I'm going home. By Sunday morning my DH had it he was sitting behind her in the car, and he was coughing all night and blowing his nose while I hid under the covers and tried not to breathe. And I had to sit at the breakfast table in the hotel with them both coughing and sneezing followed by another long drive in an air conditioned car.

Monday night they came to dinner at ours and by this time my father in law had it too. Last night my DH was coughing all night again.

I felt fine all day today tueday but this evening I got a sore thoat whcih I am trying to fight off with lots of water.

So annoyed, I think they should have all kept their distance knowing I am pregnant.

Also to add to the stress, its my mums hen night on Saturday. I have been orgaising and looking forward to it since January. I have got 10 hens staying in my house that night and I feel responsible for not passing on this f******* cold as most of the hen are coming with us to Greece in a couple of weeks.

On top of that is the worry of just how ill MIL was and she was able to dose herself up with flu strength lemsips, cough mixture and cough sweets. None of which I am allowed to have. Plus I used to be a bad asthmatic and I do usually take steroid inhalors if I know I've got a cold coming to help keep it away from my chest.

Mentally fighting it like mad!!!

So pissed off!!!! Seeing the inlaws is alway stressful enough without this!

Tam
so good about baby A. Scan sounds amazing! On the weight thing funny enough I got the BMI chart out of the Zita West book and you are right it says at five eight your ideal weight was between 10 st or 63kg and 11st 6lb or 73 kg so you were under weight. But you got pregnant anyway so it obviously didn't effect our hormone levels and I think with weight it depends if you were naturally skinny or on a size zero diet. If you were eating well then it shouldn't have affected you. But you've got a very good excuse to keep eating the cheese puffs. Which reminds me I might have some myself now, yum!

Reward
I take a steroid nasal spray every day they said its ok in small doses, so I wouldn't worry about a couple of puffs.

As for the downs tests I agree with the others 1% isn't high. My mid wife advised me not to bother taking the test cos she said IVF ladies nearly always come out with a high risk. It means nothing it just scares you.

Steph
I don't think we want to know sex either... I am still doing acu but only every 3 weeks now.

No I still haven't heard from Chovone. I sent her a PM and still nothing. Hoping she is on holiday but she had a scare a few weeks ago and so now I am concerned that she hasn't posted possitive results of her 12 week scan.

D
Your scan sounds fab. I loved mine! Got to wait till 20 weeks for scan no 3 boo hoo. Can't wait to see babies again. Hope to feel someting soon.

Love to you all xxx

Paquita

PS Wish me luck fighting off this cold before Sat be so depressed if I miss hen night.

Miss Piggy- So glad to hear your scan went well. Isn't it amazing how big the baby is now?? I was in awe the whole time and already can't wait until my 20 week scan even though it's still 6 weeks away! I hope you get great results on your blood test. We get ours back on Friday. I'm trying not to worry about it b/c the scan went so well but I will be glad to just know and be done with it.

Shantala- So good to read you!! I pop in and check on you from time to time in the awaiting treatment thread. I really hope this next cycle ends in a BFP for you. Can't wait until you join us over here girlie!!

Quita- Sorry about the illness. I agree that your in laws should have kept their distance knowing you are pregnant! Hopefully some rest and lots of fluids will fight it off well enough for you to enjoy your weekend plans. I too am worried about Chvonne as I sent her a PM a week ago and still have heard nothing. Please let me know if she responds to you...

IVFmom- Best of luck for your scan on Friday. I think you will love it! I have resisted getting a Doppler so far because I am afraid I would become addicted but listening to my baby's heartbeat every night does sound like a wonderful idea! I just started back up on my exercise program last week and I feel so much better to be active again!!

Kia- Happy to hear you had a wonderful week relaxing with sil. You definitely earned it! DH and I are going on vacation the first week in July. To a lake in Northern Michigan with all of my family. I can hardly wait! I especially cannot wait to show everybody my little belly since it's FINALLY starting to pop!

Reward- It sounds like you are doing better and hopefully the time flies until the 25th when you can have your amnio. I just know everything will be perfect and then you can sit back and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!!

Hugs to all of the others I missed...Have to get to work!

Reward
Sorry to hear about your results, but I totally agree with the others and 1% is low. I’m praying with all my heart that everything thing will turn out ok for you honey.

IVFmom
I would love to get a Doppler, it must be fab to hear that little heart beat when ever you want, I haven’t heard my little bean’s for a while now, can’t wait for my next scan!!!

Quita
I’m sorry to hear that you have caught a cold form your MIL, and yes I agree with you that she should have stayed away knowing that your pregnant. People can be so inconsiderate. I hope you feel better soon, make sure you are taking lots of Vitamin C.

Miss Piggy
So glad all went well with your scan, your 20 week one will be here before you know it.

Shantala
So nice to hear from you honey, I have also been checking in on you from time to time, I’m praying hard that your next cycle will be a well deserved BFP.

Pep

Quita, I am sorry that you are not feeling well. It irritates me on how insensitive some people can be. I especially hate when people know you are pregnant and they still smoke. But getting ill is far worse because it is something you have to go through.

Shantala, hey you! How are you doing?

MissPiggy, I am glad to hear it went well!

Hello everyone, sorry not to have been on line for a while, mad week at work. Its sounds as though everyone is doing well, despite inconsiderate in laws (Quita I am so sorry, I know exactly how you feel, there's nothing worse than being stuck in a car trying not to breathe, I frequently end up doing the same on the bus. Keep on with the orange juice and vitamin C tabs and make sure you get lots of rest. Good luck with the hen weekend, make sure you rope in an assistant organiser, they can be exhausting.)

Reward, hang in there until the amnio, I've just read a section in my baby bumph from the hosp and 98% of people who have a screen positive (ie blood or scan results which show possible risk) have healthy babies. When is your amnio booked in for?

IVFMom I see that you have a home doppler, when could you hear the heartbeat from? I'm going to my GP this afternoon and am really hoping she'll be able to hear something. I'm 11weeks and 2 days, my scan isn't until next Thurs, which seems a very long way away to me!

Has anyone else heard their baby's heartbeat with a doppler? And when was the earliest they heard it? I really hope to hear mine this afternoon but I also don't want to have a worried weekend if we can't for any reason?!

I can not wait until I reach the magical 12 week mark, I want to start enjoying this pregnancy, I also want to be able to explain why I am sooo dull at the moment (left a wedding at 11.30 last weekend!). I'm just hoping that as everything was looking good at 10 wks we should be ok for the 12 week scan.

Miss Piggy, I'm glad all went well with your scan, did you see the baby moving? I was amazed at the difference between the 7 wk and 10 wk scan, I can't wait to see the 12 wk scan!

I hope you all have lovely weekends, just think, whatever else happens, at least we're pregnant!

Hi everyone

hope you are all well...have not posted for a while as was in Cornwall last week & it is really manic @ work this week....

I am now 12 weeks 1 day and cant wait for scan on monday, although a bit aprehensive as having a Nuchal scan and keep changing mey mind whether to go ahead with it or not............

We had our 1st appt with midwife on wed which was a home visit & we were really surprised as she asked us if we would like to hear the heart beat......as if we would say no
anyway it was fab, 160 bpm and sounded like a train.............i have been classed as low risk for birth and so we have opted to have baby in birthing unit instead of hospital, you get to stay there a week if you want to get help/tuition with breadt feedding etc......being new to all this i am up for all the help i can get

Take care everyone
