Yasmina, just a very quick one as I have to take Wills for some injections v.soon! It sounds to me that maybe you should increase Eloise's formula. William is now on 5 feeds a day of 6 oz together with a couple of very short breast feeds (my milk has all but gone now). He is a few weeks older I know, but weighs around 14lb. I am not yet introducing any baby rice as in the UK they now recommend you don't start weaning until 6 months. Wills is 19 wks and 2 days. I am trying to hold off for another 3 - 4 weeks to give him the best start. Apparently the thinking is now that if you start weaning that bit later, the babies are less likely to develop any food allergies/intolerances.
Speak to your health professionals, I am sure they will reassure you and suggest a way forward.

Yasmina: I have not started Andrew on solids either. He is still eating 8-10 times a day. I have had a problem with the foremilk/hindmilk. He is getting too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk. I have stopped pumping during the day, only if the breast is too full for him to nurse.
I have been losing a lot of hair too. When I wash my hair and brush it, a lot of hair comes out. I don't know if that is do to the low estrogen or not.
Andrew is just about 3.5 months old.
China has tightened regulations on international adoption including: age, length of marriage, health of parents, weight of parents, net assets of parents, age of youngest child in household, etc. If we were to use the new guidelines, we would not qualify now, since we have not been married 5 years. You need to be married 5 years if there ihas been a divorce.

Tammy

Tammy, I didn't know about the length of marriage restriction. That would put us out also. DH knows of a couple here that was turned down due to the parents weight limit. It is really a shame that our laws have made it so undesirable to adopt in the U.S. Not a lot of couples want to adopt and then a year down the road have that child taken away from them because the birth mother changed her mind. For DH and private adoptions in the U.S., he has a hard time dealing with the strings that are still attached. Meaning that the birth mother wants to visit, have photos and updates sent to her periodically. Our attorney told us of one couple that the birth mother was at their house for every Christmas. I'm not looking to pay a hefty sum to be a baby sitter or the "other" mommy. Sorry, had to vent a bit. We have already started the first steps for a private adoption, but I think DH and I both were blown away after talking to the attorney. He said that these are the same reasons that so many couples go internationally for adoption, because they know the mother will not come over here to bring their child back and the birth mothers don't require visits, correspondence, etc. We were personnally asked by a school teacher about 8 weeks ago if we would be interested in adopting because there was a girl (from out of state) that was expecting and she had recommended us (knowing that we were going through infertility unsuccessfully and our religious background) to this girl. I was shocked, since we had not discussed adoption at all. We had to make a quick decision (1 day) and contact an attorney, and provide a portfolio - which we did. This girl was supposedly to meet with this same attorney the first of May, and we have not heard anything since. I assume she chose another family or backed out of the adoption choice. I would love to have more children whether adoption or by birth. DH has much harder time with adoption than I do. I am praying that the DE option works for us.
Bev, did you get your precious William the first try on DE? He sounds precious. Sounds like you have had some very short nights. Do the Drs. not recommend adding cereal to the breast milk? I had to do that with DS at about 3 or 4 months. I breastfed Max for 9 months. He will be 8 yrs in 2 weeks and has no food allergies. He is very healthy, matter of fact the only 7 yr old I've seen that orders salads when we go out and loves broccoli.
All you new moms are in my prayers for some needed sleep and hopefully some "mommy" time.
The deadline for dossier submittal (for China) to still be under the old rules was May 2007. The new rules are much more strict about health issues of the parents also. You cannot be on any form of anti-depressant either. Our log in date is June 9th, 2006. It has almost been 1 year from today. Domestic adoptons here in the states is scary. A friend told me that I should go through the foster care program............"Foster to Adopt". There is no way that I could do that. I would get all attached to the little child and then the mother would get out of jail, kick her crack habit and want her baby back. I remember a situation in Chicago a few years back where the biological mother regained custody of her 3 or 4 year old after the adopted parents had him for his entire life. I could not give a baby back after raising it for 3+ years. I would have to leave the country and be on the run. I do hope that your donor egg cycle works for you. My DH has a more difficult time with adoption too. He is concerned about the bonding issues.
Take care all,
Tammy

My biggest concern with adoption at the moment is that I could be very sad for the mother who let us take her baby away. I am trying to convince myself that I will adopt one whose mother would let the baby die or stay in an orphanage. I wanted to adopt a Chinese little girl because I heard that some Chinese girls are given up by their parents because one child policy - prefer to have boys. Now with the changes in policies, we may need to revisit this decision.
Kim, I have several adopted friends who feel much closer to their adopted parents than the biological ones, which made me believe open adoption won’t make me feel like babysitting.
Bev, Tammy, and Kim, thanks for the suggestions about introducing solids – I will ask doctor soon at her 4-month check up visit. She is now 3.5 month. Bev, Eloise is the same age as Wills’ adjusted age. I think you are right – I need to feed her more. I believe that people do breastfeeding often do it longer than 4 month, I just don’t know how anyone can do breastfeeding exclusively for a year - I do not think that I have enough milk to satisfy a fast growing baby! I try not to feed too much formula in case that will inhibit my milk to come. However, this did not work, I simply don’t have a full breast unless I wait for 8 hours now – I used to have full breast within 4~6 hours.
Bev, I would not wean Eloise even if I succeeded to feed her solids now. I just wanted to supplement some solids to make sure that she is not hungry too fast.
Tammy, you are right about that hair loss is related hormonal changes, so is milk production. About the foremilk and hindmilk issue, I normally feed Eloise one breast at a time, unless one is completely dry due to frequent feeding – this happens at weekends. If I pump, which I do at work, I only pump one breast (~4 oz) at a time completely to make sure all the hindmilk is out.

GeckoGirl & Kim, good to see you’re making good progress on the egg donor route. So there are now quite a few of us waiting to get going. I do hope 2007 is going to be a good year for us all.
About percentages for DE treatment, our new Doc gave us around 50-70% before he knew much about our case. I don’t really like thinking in percentages. Up to now we’ve always belonged to that portion that gets the bad news but nevertheless, there is some quite encouraging news here and on other forums. So I’m presently living in hope for as long as I can and do occasionally find myself getting excited about starting my DE cycle. Also, I’m doing a few things that I or my Docs think could improve chances (which is keeping me occupied with appointments, blood tests etc.) Keep up the PMA.
Ali – Have you decided when to go ahead with your next treatment cycle? Waiting is always a pain but giving your body more time to regenerate definitely sounds right for you. Good that your specialist is giving you confidence and support.
Jen – how are you getting on? I suppose you’ll be getting your test results soon and will be making your first appointment. Can’t believe we’re well into June already. Must be your big birthday around now – have a great time celebrating. Do keep us posted.
A big hello to everyone else. Kat – enjoy your trip to Singapore!
We're just getting ready for a week's holiday break in Italy. We were at the same place last year for a few days whilst I was on my 1st 2ww. This time I'll be joining in all the sports and enjoying a few glasses of wine too.
Take care all!

Just back from hols and popping in quickly to say:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEN!!!!!!! Have a great time celebrating.
Good to read your posts and thanks for starting the update list! I'll fill in my dates as soon as I have more time.
Hi to everyone else

P.S. Yes, I've been having problems with lost posts and really slow downloads etc. too. I often write my posts in MS Word and copy them in so if the post is lost during submitting (happens all the time with me ) at least my text is saved.

Sonia, how was Italy? Hope your trip was relaxing and fun.
We changed our selection on our ED today. We have debated and prayed about this for a week. Just not comfortable with her family health history. The one we are now going with will be in September. She is cycling right now, but I'm not sure we can get in on a shared cycle at this time. September is not a bad month - that is my birthday.
Two ladies (my housekeeper, 40; and friend at church, 44) have just found out they are pregnant. Surprise to both of them. The 44 yr old has twin 2 yr old sons which were accident. I am so happy for them both, but still reminded how having babies is not a matter of want or these boards wouldn't exist. I still keep my faith in God strong through many many prayers every day. And all you ladies are included in those prayers.
Happy 40th Jen!!!! 40 is not so bad. For me, 30 was a more difficult birthday than 40. Did DH have a surprise party for you?
Kim: I'm glad to hear that you have your donor cycle worked out.
Sonia: Where did you go in Italy? I have been to northern Italy and really liked it. Of course it was on business and would have been a lot more fun if it had been on holiday. I hope you had a good time.
Bev, Anna and Yasmina,
How big are your babies? I weighed Andrew on the bathroom scales yesterday and he weighed 18 lbs!!!!! He is not even 4 months old yet. He will be 4 months on 6/28. I don't know where he gets his size, as DH and I are just average sized parents. I bought another crib for him, as the pack and play that he had been sleep in had a 15 lb limit! His nice crib is upstairs and I don't want to put him upstairs (my bedroom is downstairs) and DH does not want to take the nice crib apart and reassemble it downstairs. It seems that I'm always buying something for him.
Hello to everyone else.
Regards,
Tammy
