When did you stop PIO, other meds??????

I am pregnant with twins and i am still taking the PIO and Estrace...just wondering when your doc said you could stop taking it??? I am nervous!!!! My doc is trying to take me off of them but I am scared....

well, my doctor is planing to take me off in the next two weeks, I will be 12 weeks by then. However I am on sypositories ( such a relief from PIO):)
I guess it might depend on your blood results if you producing enough progesterone by yourself you don't need PIO.

I was also very scared to stop the progesterone. My doctor told me to stop in week 12 (by that time, I had been discharged to my regular OB and they don't do routine progesterone blood tests like the fertility docs do). I weended myself off the suppositories by week 14 but was still scared I wasn't producing it on my own.

I convinced my OB to do a blood test in week 15 and my level was 95 - far higher than it ever was while I was on the suppositories. I found it hard to trust that my body was doing the right thing but sure enough it was. I'm sure yours will too. Good luck!

I am 13 weeks pg with twins & had my last progestrone shot yesterday. My last estrogen patch was 2 weeks ago. With my last pg I was taken off progestrone at 9 weeks & 2 days later had an us with no heartbeat. We had all of the testing done on the baby & she was perfectly healthy. I have never been able to get my head around the progestrone that I really didn't want to stop taking. On this cycle I was at a different clinic & pretty much called all the shots. I started weaning down my doses over the last couple of weeks & checking my blood every week. My cousin went through ivf the same week as me & she stopped the progestrone & mc the day before mothers day. She was 2 days behind me at 9 weeks. I think it's odd that they take women off progestrone at 8 or 9 weeks when everywhere you look the placenta takes over somewhere between 10-12 weeks. Many women do fine but, it's seems to me many may not & I wasn't willing to risk it. I am still nervous but, more comfortable seeing the nice big placentas that my twins have in there now.

Hello girls those are the exact reasons that i am scared. I have read that the placenta starts to kick in around 12 weeks or so and I am like why would I stop taking the meds now? Makes no sense so I was just going to keep taking them until 12 weeks...well weaning myself off of them. My doc wants me to stay on the prog vaginal gel until 14 weeks. I just don't want to lose my babies because I quit taking the meds too early. I really appreciate it girls!!! Thank you so much for your input!!
