I was reading some information on aspertame and other artifical sweetners and none of them are any good. I stopped using them before my last FET cycle but every and now and then I feel like a diet coke and feel bad if I have any. Has anyone continue to use them or stopped completly?
I know that splenda is OK for you and if you have a diet coke once and a while it should not affect anything. My OB said just keep things in moderation. So dont go crazy and drink diet coke all day long. It is completly up to you and what you feel comfortable with. I would also ask your OB if that would put you at ease some. Hope this help.
this was on my mind today too.my husband and i have drank strictly diet drinks for years. i would prefer not to risk pregnancy (obviously). i wonder where splenda fits in to all this. a lot of drinks now use splenda.
i am hesitant to trust internet research but i'm going to check it out.

I've had a caffeine free diet coke pretty much every day since I found out about the pregnancy and so far so good. Actually, now that I think about it I didn't drink it very often in the first trimester because it tasted really bad to me then....but the last 3 months or so I've had at least one a day.
I drink caffine free diet coke every day (44 oz size) and I use both sweet & low and equal in my morning decaf coffee. So far everything is fine and I am 18 weeks. Was not advised not too. I did read it is fine in moderation.
My OB said to avoid Sacharin and Aspartame which are commonly found in Diet soda and foods and sugar free foods and gum. She said Splenda is ok in moderation - just don't bake with it (meaning no large quantity). I've read the FDA approves only Splenda in moderation for pregnant women. I'm going the real sugar route (very minimally) and Splenda ocassionaly. I have a wonderfully healthy DD and I only used real sugar during my pregnancy with her. Good luck!

I think as with anything else in pregnancy, one shouldn't go overboard with worry if you didn't really indulge in two litres diet coke a day! Do everything in moderation and all should be fine.
Good luck!

Hi Mattie,
I was quite careful for the first few weeks but I've really found that chewing gum helps my m/s so I guess I've been ingesting quite a bit of aspartame over the last month or so. I find the full sugar chewing gum really doesn't taste good to me. I think that like anything as long as you don't go mad I'm sure you'll be fine. I've also had the odd half glass of champagne at weddings and the bean seems to be fine on it!

This is a lot of great suggestions/recommendations. I haven't used much artifical sweetners at all. I think I've had 2 diet cokes since my BFP in May and those were to help with the morning sickness. I read where it is ok to use in moderation and I'll continue to do that.
