Baby Books for Adopted Children

Post by ltaylor »

Hi,

I just want to start out by saying that I saw an article published in my local (St. Louis) paper about “baby books” that are tailored for adopted children since they are often a little older when adopted. I have never used this company personally and am not affiliated with it in any way. I wanted to pass along the information because if DH and I decide to go this route, this would be something I would be interested in buying.

The guy who started the company adopted a 7 month old and couldn’t find any “baby books” that fit the situation so he designed his own. Here is an excerpt from the article.

"I wanted to make the book as inclusive as possible, so I really tried to think of all the angles, not just for adopted children but also for foster children," Appel said. That's why he also designed a version for single-parent adopters.

Called "Celebrating My Life," the albums commemorate "The First Time We Saw You," "The Adoption Process," "The People That Helped Make You Ours," "Your First Day Here" and other specially designated events for these special children.

The albums sell for $28.95, and a set of 25 birth announcements sells for $19.95, plus shipping. They're available at www.anotherbranch.com.

Good luck to everyone going through the adoption process.

Hi.

When I lived in Ireland I did my first egg share and for this we had to have counslling and the counsellor showed us some similar books and they were fantastic.

She also told us that all the problems they have from the adopted children tend to stem from not being told early enough that they were adopted. They strongly believe that children should be told from the start and made to feel special and wanted with the help of these books.
We may have to turn to adoption one day and will def. use books like this.
