Hi Ladies, My US on Friday was good so now we are just waiting on the lab results. The doctor made me feel like an old hag.......she kept going on an on about the risk of defects at my age (38). So luckily she couldn't find any problems on the US.
I could hear my baby's heartbeat around 10 weeks with the home doppler.
It helps me to relax and sleep to hear him at night. Oh yeah I forgot to mention it's a boy......very obvious on the US. So I will be a mom of 2 boys! Now I have to figure out a name that my DH and I can agree on.
I hope everyone else is well. Take care!!

iVF mom- can you tell the sex of the baby at the 12 wk scan?!! I didn't know that. We don't want to know so will have to look away on Thurs!

I went to see my GP on Friday and she used the doppler on me and I heard the heartbeat - it was amazing!! I was already losing confidence following the scan a week earlier and this was just what I needed over the weekend to make me believe this is really still happening! She said it sounded very strong and regular and the rate was 168bpm. She was very sweet and said I could go in anytime I wanted if I was worried, she's already booked me in two weeks after the scan on Thurs but said I can in earlier if I want.

Is anyone else having problems believing they really are pregnant?! Don't get me wrong I could not be more thrilled or excited, nothing else really seems to matter in comparison, its just that everytime I see a scan or hear the heartbeat I think "good god! there's a baby inside me"! and it seems like a surprise every time!!

SJ very impressed with your home midwife visit - that really is service! I live in the centre of London, we're lucky not to have to treck 2 hrs to each appnt and you never see the same midwife twice. Fingers crossed we actually see one at the birth!

Hi girls

How is everyone doing?

I just not long left a msg on our old thread and got a responce from Barbs and thought I'd try and find the rest of you.

Everything going ok for you guys?

I'll be 13 weeks and in my 2nd Trimester tomorrow woo hoo.

Our 3rd scan last week was amazing, as we saw the baby wriggling about and waving it's arms. The heartbeat is nice and strong and my next scan is on the 2oth. The baby's going through a growth spurt at the moment and I'm really fatigued again, but according to my pg notes from my Bounty pack, it happens from now and the next few weeks. Any of you feeling really tired again? It's all very exciting learning what's happening week to week :D :D .

The second scan at 10wks was crazy as they measured the baby's age from my baseline scan which I thought was very stupid. What's the point of doing it from the baseline scan, when that was only to make sure I had no follicles ready for my stims before the IVF  ? If anything we thought they'd have gone from fertilisation date, or from my LMP like they did at our first scan at 8wks.

Anyway, Hi to all those I don't know as yet, I hope you're doing well :) .

Take care everyone, chat soon :D .

hi all

do hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

i'm stressing here a little bit as i'm sure i have been lost in our lovely nhs system somewhere, i'm still to have my 12 week scan, in fact i'm still waiting for a date for one!!!!! i have phoned my midwife and i'm stil waiting for a reply!!! i'm so mad with it all, i have now booked myself a private Nuchal scan.

sorry to vent but so P***ed off with the NHS...

marcia hi and welcome so nice to see you on this side. love the scan pic.

tams - know what you mean about not believing your really pregnant.. i'm constantly thinking i cant believe there is a little life there right inside of me, i have to keep on pinching myself to make sure it's not a dream!!! i cant wait for my baby bump i think its then when i will really believe its happing for me.

ivfmom - cant believe you could see the sex thats fab, we have decided not to know so i hope the baby will keep his/her legs crossed on all the scans.

take care all

I am already HUGE!! Ok, ok maybe not huge, but I am showing already! I am so happy because it means I am closer to giving birth! I cannot say that I have enjoyed being pregnant, I am miserable most of the time, but I am happy that I am pregnant (if that makes sense).

I do not believe that I will have any post partum depression, I will be so much happier to have these bundles of love here! And no sickness :)

Kia, I know what you mean about the NHS, they really do seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful. They were so snotty to me because we had the IVF privately - you'd think that the natural response would be that this leaves an opportunity open for someone else. We clearly have not a bean following 2 cycles of IVF ICSI and a Frozen cycle so going privately now is absolutely not an option. Anyway I had been told that I would have all my midwife appointments at the hospital but the receptionist (who refused to put my Private Doctors details on my notes - 'we don't recognise them as doctors' chuh!) tried to change this so I go to a satelite clinic much further away. I have to say welcoming she was not.

Anyway, this will not spoil my 12 week scan - only two more sleeps!! I am so excited, the scan is 40 mins to give them a chance to do the nuchal fold, which means 40 blissful minutes of looking at the bean. I am still feeling happy following Friday's hearing the heartbeat, although some worry started to creep in after I used a little ant killer spray yesterday - I didn't inhale (I sound like Clinton!) do you think it will be ok??

LOL

Hi girls! After reading these posts I'm glad I don't have to deal with a NHS! I guess the IVF expense was worth not having all of the hassels. I'm so sorry for what you have to deal with. Pregnancy is hard enough!
I'm glad all are doing well. I can no longer hide my hump! With the second pregnancy you expand much faster! I'm in maternity pants already and enjoying the comfort.
Tams don't worry about the ant spray. People do much worse things and have completely healthy babies.

:D  :D  Fifteen weeks and One day :D  :D

Hi guys,

D, Kia, Tams and Steph,

Thank you for astking after my health. Mother in Laws who'd have them LOL!
Cold started a week ago yesterday and I am starting to feeel better now. Still coughing all day and night and breathing thoo=ugh my mouth annoying!
Had to go to the doctors last week cos it got so bad and he said it had caused my asthma (last seen 5 years or so ago) to return - great! And he has put me back on Sabutimol and Becotyde steroid inhalers. I was worried about this but apparently they use Sabitamol to stop women going into early labour and Becotyde has been proven to help babies lungs grow so thaat not so bad.

It had also given me hey fever so I am also on the Puriton for a short period.

Hopefully I shall be all better in time to go to Greece.

The hen night was amazing - everyone turned up and my mum was so pleased by the limos and they personalised stuff we got for her hen presents. Check out cheeky cheeks on google.

There was 26 of us all in feather boas and we Brighton came to a stand still! Our meal was great and everyone enjoyed the live music at the night club I choose.

Such a good night - I shall never forget it!

Sarah,

Hi nice to see you back. I want to hear my babies heartbeats now you lucky thing. Will have to wait till I get back from Zante.

ivfmomof1

Good to hear about your scan. Another boy huh! You lucky thing - how fantastic!!!

Marcia,

welcome to this side of the board.

Kia,

They must do you a scan soon surely! The NHS can be crap sometimes can't they?

D,

are you still getting sick! You poor love. Hope it eases for you soon. No wonder you are feeeling down.

Tam, thats terrible about your hospital. Have to say my sussex NHS hospital can not have been nicer. Do you know you are allowed to have your care at any NHS hospital in the country they have to take you. Hope things improve for you soon.

Love to you all,

Quita, the hen night sounds like an absolute blast - well done for organising it and attending when you must have felt pretty manky. Can't even have lots of wine to get through the evening!

Everyone told me I would go off acohol and coffee so wouldn't want them anyway, well so far the only thing I've gone off is vegetables! I thoroughly feel like a cold glass of wine or champagne most of the time! I had half a glass at a wedding last weekend and once I've reached the 12 week stage I'm sure I'll let myself have the odd glass. Some how I'm happier with the alcohol thing which I can control the amounts of, than the whole listeria, toxoplasmosis thing which I know is very rare but scares the bejezus out of me - every piece of meat is suspect to me! Am sure i'll relax a little as the months go on - I hope I will!

Anyhow, one more sleep until the 12 week scan - yippeeeee! It feels like this is what I've been working towards (can't even begin to imagine childbirth and having a baby).

LOL
Tams xx

ps Quita thanks for your tips re hospitals, I'm hoping that this is just a blip and that I'll get some nicer staff when I go in tomorrow, I'll let you know!

Well ladies, finally after a lot of phone calls I got me scan last night!!! It was the most wonderful experience ever, the only thing that I wish I could change about is that my DH could have been there too. Unfortunately he went away on Sunday and isn’t back until the end of the month, typical of military life!!!! I had the Nuchal in the end and all is fine thank god.
My little bean actually looked like a baby, it was so lovely to see. I’m on cloud nine at the moment and have forgiven the NHS (just) and I have my next scan booked for the 4th july, so whinging did work in the end!!!

Tams – NHS who would have them!!! Hopefully the staff will be lovely tomorrow, (sad thing is I work for the NHS) just enjoy the whole thing, I was there for 50 mins in total as bean just would not keep still for the measurements!! Not that I minded at all as I got to watch him/her for nearly an hour it was wonderful. Hope all goes well honey, let us know.

Quita – the hen night sound like one hell of a party, how did you cope with every one else drunk around you???

Hi to everyone else
