NUCHAL SCAN?

Post by SJ BROWN »

Hi guys..
just a quick question

we have a nuchal scan today @ 3pm (after much mind changing as to whether to have it or not) and i have been told to have a fullbladder.

Am I right in assuming this will be an external scan?? and also for a full bladder is there a minimum I shld drink?
just wondering.................cheers

Yep, it is external. I don't know how much you are supposed to drink. I drank too much and had a belly ache throughout.

Hi Sarah,

Good luck on your scan. I will be having one in a few weeks also and really nervous about it.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi
sorry could not post sooner but on day of scan i had a really bad migraine & starting being sick so had to leave work.........
only just made it scan-NO WAY was I cancelling!!

Scan was awesome & everything looked ok...........mesurements were taken for nuchal fold(1.6mm) & when we went for bloods the nurse asked if we would be having an amnio if we came out high risk...to which we said NO. She then went on to say that if we did not want amni was it worth going ahead with Nuchal as if it came out high risk we would stress for the rest of the pregnancy.......
In the end we decided "what will be will be" and have agreed to just enjoy the pregnancy & wait & see...............

I have since read in a book (Miriam Stoppard I think) that nuchal fold of 2.65mm or above is considered a risk....I know this is just a quote from a book & we did not have a blood test but I am taking this as a good sign as our measurement was 1.6mm..............

Anyway,
headache & sickness now gone :) & I am back to work

Hope everyone is well

Hi Stephanie,

That's great your scan turned out good. Mines is schelud for June 28.. Can't wait. I've been doing some research on the results and there's some conflicting info out there. Hopefully my consult will answer my questions.
