Hi all...sorry to barge in to your thread. I'm in the June July group and currently on 3rd day of stims. This is the one and only chance DH and I have to do IVF...I don't think we can afford to do it again as we are 100% self pay and this is like financing a car it is so expensive. Is there any hope it can work on the first try? I've been reading all over the internet and seems so many women have to do IVF multiple times to achieve success. It's so hard to stay positive sometimes! Thanks for any advice you can offer.
I got a BFP first time, but M/C at 9 weeks. Before IVF we tried IUI twice and while waiting for IVF cycle #2, we got pregnant naturally, although I do believe that the natural would not have happened if we had not done IVF, residual effect I think they call it, the meds jump start your reproductive system. The most important thing is that you stay positive!

I did IVF/ICSI because I have had both my fallopian tubes removed and my husband had abnormal sperm issues and I fell pregnant on our first attempt. I was not sure if we would as at my collection they only retrieved 5 eggs. So there is hope that it will work on the first time!
I did get pregnant on my first IVF/ICSI after 7 failed IUI's. Like many others out there, this was all paid cash since insurance does not cover any part of IVF. Going into this, we knew this was our only attempt at IVF and it worked.
Another happy ending here! Our insurance doesn't cover IVF either and we were thrilled when we ended up pg with twins after our first round! I hope you have the same story to tell very soon! Best wishes and good luck to you and DH!
Take care~ Kimberly

Thank you girls so much for sharing your stories with me! You've given me some hope tonight. I just need to get back into "positive mode". Saturday I have my first u/s and b/w since beginning stims and I'm interested to see how I'm responding. I hope I can join you here soon! Thanks again!
I too fell pregnant first time with ICSI and am currently 10 weeks. We had no previous fertility treatment. Keep positive. it can work and positive thinking is the key to success.

I too did IVF because of one blocked fallopian tube. I got pregnant with twin boys the VERY FIRST TRY!!!! We only transferred 2 embryos too and I have 16 remaining frozen. I am now 18 weeks pregnant. My husband and I only had 50% insurance coverage so I do feel your pain. Stay positive and know that you have lots of people rooting for you!!!
Good Luck!!

I also got pregnant after first IVF. Only six eggs retrieved and three embryos transferred. Stay positive and consistent with the cycle - it's really important to be calm and methodical and try to relax (tough, I know!)
I also got pregnant on the first try with IVF and ICSI. I am 19 weeks pregnant with twins. We paid for all of it out of pocket but it does work the first time sometimes.. Good luck to you and best wishes.. JESS
