Hi guys,

Sorry that I have been MIA, I have been a little busy......

Finlay Dane and his brother Jasper John arrived last thursday via caesar after my bp hit an all time high. I started to vomit in the car park at my obstetricians place and they rushed me to hospital were I had an emergency caesar at 9pm. Finn was 2.445kgs and Jasper was 2.3kgs.

It was one of the most traumatic and fantastic days of my life. I had a reaction to the anaesthetic and stared vommiting on the table and continued for 24 hours. Finlay wasn't breathing properly and both babies were rushed to ICU. My poor Dh ran between the two bubs in ICU and me in recovery feeling totally helpless. He said that he will never forget the sight of poor Finn struggling to breath and thinking that he was going to lose his new son.

I didn't get to see them until saturday morning. Both bubs are now in Special Care and will be for at least another week. I just got home today and feel completely empty without them but at least they are doing better. They are still to weak to feed so they are being tube fed and my milk still hasn't come in really anyway. The midwives are all saying that its because the birth was so traumatic and that I need to try and take care of myself but I can't help feeling helpless that I can't even give them milk.

It wasn't love at first sight but my God it was at second sight!

Will write more later when I have a free moment. Hope you are all well.

CONGRATULATIONS EM !!!!!!!!!

I am glad that the boys are doing better and I am sure that they will improve in no time at all :D

Take care of yourself - you have had a bit of a rough trot. Don't be too hard on yourself either - I had a tramatic birth that ended in a c section with my first son and it took me ages to get over it. Affected my bonding, breasting etc..with him in the early days. Get help if you need it and even if you don't think you need it, get it :D

When are the boys likely to come home? Probably won't take too long - be home before you know it !

Hi to everyone else - I think you are next Buckeyegal

Em- Congratulations on your boys!!! I wish we didn't live on separate continents, so we could let them play together someday.

I know how hard it is to leave the hospital without your babies. I cried and cried when I had to leave mine. It is exhausting going back and forth to the hospital but try to get some rest while you can. Once they are home, you won't be sleeping more than 2 hrs at a time.

Don't worry about your milk coming in. I delivered on a Monday and mine didn't come in until the next weekend, so your's should be coming in any day now.

Respiratory issues are very common in premature babies, as I'm sure you know. They will resolve themselves in the next week or so. Them you will have your beautiful babies home with you!

I converted their weights to pounds, for those of us who are metrically challenged, 5.1 and 5.4 pounds. That is a really great size for 35 weeks!

Please post some pictures as soon as you can. I am dying to see them!

Again congratulations and try to get some rest.

CONGRATULATIONS EM!!!!!!!
What an experience you had! WHEW! The boys sound like they are both doing well and were pretty good size. I can't imagine how it feels to go home without them but I'm sure it will all be over with soon and they will be home in your arms. Take care of yourself dear and make sure and let other people help you out. I'm so glad you and the boys are doing better now! PICTURES!!! :D Can't wait to see them.

Kim~ I imagine that your babies will be here quite soon! Thanks to the DH for keeping us informed. I hope all is well and look forward to hearing from you!

Hey Diane! Anything new yet? Contractions or any sign of labor heading your way? It's always nice to see you on the web page. Hope all is well.

We are going strong. Nothing new to report other than growing babies. My tummy looks like I hid a basketball under my shirt and that's it. The other day I wore a white shirt and it was dirty on the front from everyone touching me all the time. Still not use to that yet. Especially when DH's friends that are male do it. WIERD! Have also ate an over abundance of Girl Scout Cookies today and may be feeling ill because of it! :( I would never normally eat half a row of thin mints but today it seemed like a great idea??? The babies made me do it!!!!

Have a great night everyone and take care. Can't wait to hear more baby stories!

Kim- I hope everything is going well. Can't wait to hear about your babies!

Kholtan- I completely understand about the girl scout cookies. I had a major sweet tooth when pregnant. I wish I still had the excuse to eat whatever I want!

Jackie- It was so good to hear from you! I am so glad you and Kennedy are doing well.

I took the boys in for their one month checkup today. Jeremy now weighs 7 lbs and Nicholas weighs 6 lbs! I can't believe how big they've gotten.

Unfortunately we got some bad news. Nicholas has a heart murmer. The doctor said he thinks it is benign and Nicholas will probably outgrow it. But we have to take him to a pediatric cardiologist for an ultrasound of his heart.

I couldn't get an appt with the specialist until June 26, so I have to wait and worry for two weeks. I am trying not to panic but the thought that anything might be wrong with him is horrifying. I keep crying whenever I think of it. DH and my mother keep telling me not to worry and wait to hear what the cardiologist has to say first, but I can't help it.

Laura~
Nice to hear the boys are getting so big! I just wanted to write and tell you that I have had a heart murmer all my life and it has had little to no effect on me ever. It did get smaller as I grew and was always watched but never altered my life at all. In fact, as a child I thought it made me "special" to be getting extra attention and the Dr. visits were 100% painless and I was always rewarded for my bravery!
Not sure if this eases the pain of finding it but I hope it may lessen your trears. As a mother I know you want everything to be perfect and anything less is a disappointment. Nicholas will be in my prayers.
Take care~

Hey gals!

Em--congratulations! I'm sorry your birth was so traumatic, but you have 2 beautiful boys who will come home very soon!

I wish I had time for more personals, but.....

Well, yesterday, on June 14th, our twins made their arrival! Ellie Rose Ulrich arrived at 4:20 in the afternoon. She was 19 inches long and weighed 5 1/2 pounds. Braeden Alan Ulrich arrived at 4:22 pm. He was 17 3/4 inches and weighed just over 5.2 pounds. Both babies are doing very well! They are learning to feed, I'm learning to nurse, and DH is trying to figure out how diapers work!

Both babies are very healthy; however, since they are small, they are spending some time each day in the nursery to help them maintain their body temperature. We should know in the next day or two if they can go home with us. They might have to spend a couple extra days in the hospital to help with their weight and body temperature; but, we don't know yet. We are hoping that all the feedings will help them be strong enough to come home!

Sorry I don't have pics yet. We have to down load them at home before I can send them. I'll try to send pics out as soon as I can!

TAke care everyone!

Kim- Congratulations!!! A boy and a girl, how wonderful! I'm so glad that they didn't have to go to the NICU and you are getting to nurse them. You must be so excited!!! I hope they will be able to go home with you.

I can't wait to see pictures of Em's and Kim's babies!

Kimberly- Thank you for telling me about your heart murmer. It helps to know that it is most likely nothing to worry about. I am feeling better about it today. I was just so scared that my baby was really sick. But the doctor said several times that he was sure that it was nothing serious and for me not to worry. (Easier said than done!)

Hi guys,

Kim- CONGRATS! You got your boy and girl!! It doesn't matter though once you have them as to what they are, does it? I wanted one of each but when I saw them and named them, it felt so completely right - I couldn't imagine myself as anything other than the mother of twin boys. I also converted your weights and lengths and ours were very similar.

Laura- Don't worry too much about the mumur....my brother has one and he is in the army in Iraq at the moment so it doesn't hold him back in any way.

The boys have graduated! They are now in SCN 1. The units go ICU (life threatned cases), SCN 2 (severely ill but not critical), SCN 1 (still sick but off monitors), Rooming in (were mums are readmitted to hospital for 2 nights and the bubs are put in her room), then HOME. So we are over the hump and on the downhill run!

They are both attaching to the breast like pro's but I am only managing to express 10mls per 3 hours so its unlikely they are getting enough to survive. So they are still being tube fed formula as well. Hopefully in the next couple of days we can start trying them on bottles and get rid of their naso-gastric tubes. I can't wait to see their little faces without tape and tubes all over them!

I start some meds to bring on my milk and I will try for the next week, but after that I may need to bite the bullet and put them on formula alone. DH isn't happy about it but I can't keep going at this rate...my boobs are so tender from squeezing them just to get a pitiful drop.

Hope the rest of you are all growing nicely and not too uncomfortable.

Em

PS: How do I attach pics? Will try and put some in the photobucket.

:D  :D Fifteen Weeks and four days :D  :D

Hi Em how amazing and terrifing it was to hear your news. Made me realise what a long and bumpy journey I still have ahead. So pleased all is well with your boys now. Been suffering with asthma that last two weeks so the not being able to breathe bit particuarly touch a nerve with me.

Congratualtions to all you new mums - think you are all amazing and such hero's hope I can be so brave and seemingly in control as you lot when my time comes. Ahhhr scarey and exciting.

Staring to fill out alot now suddenly clothes I could get away with are too tight.

Did any of you have a 3d scan in England and if so where did you go and would you recommed it. Think I'd like to do that in ten weeks time or so.

Love to you all and your bouncing babies xxxxxxx
