My dh is giving me all my shots. I think he enjoys being a part of the process. We always joke that he should have been a surgeon- he has really good, steady hands. So, I don't have to worry about poking myself, which is nice. We had to do five yesterday and they all went well. I numbed the area with an ice pack while we were preparing the injections and it didn't sting at all. This morning, I took the ice off and we didn't do the menopur for several minutes and it burned- I think the numbness had faded. I am definitely keeping the ice on until right before the shot. I am feeling a little bloated already and I have a little cramping- it this normal? Rockrat- hope all goes well tomorrow.
Hi All,
First thank you so much for everyone's kinds thoughts. I had my ER yesterday at 7am. No to to bad, but I'm sore, I guess my ovaries/eggs did not act properly so they had a hard time getting my follicals. They got six, I thought there would be more but it just takes one:) I got the message this am from my nurse, all six were mature, and five embros that are growing and dividing today. They will call me tomorrow to give me another update. Getting excited. Also my progestrone shot last night, WOW, did not feel it at all. Hubby did a great job. I highly recommend iceing before hand for about 5 mins. So 'm continuing my prenatal vitamins, and estrace twice a day, along with my prgestrone shot. Hopefully transfer is Tuesday. Also still sore since yesterday though, just take it easy and been laying down, hard to walk, that is when i feel it.
When did you start your progesterone shots? I thought that my dr. wanted me to start those two days after retrieval. Does that sound right? I'm not looking forward to those at all! My husband may be more nervous than I am! I'll try icing before hand, that should help.
Good luck!
M

I thought of something else that you all might know about. I went to my dr. on Saturday and they said I have 22 follicles. That's because I have PCOS and already had many follicles in my ovaries. Once I started the gonal f, many of them have responded. My question is whether or not that is too many. I've heard of cycles being cancelled when there are too many follicles. Do you all know anything about that? They lowered my gonal f (it was already a super low dose), but they don't seem too concerned. I go back to the dr. tomorrow for another ultrasound and bloodwork. I really hope things are okay.
Also, do any of you worry about overstimulating? I'm so worried about that, but I don't know what I can do about it. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
M

Lynn - glad to hear your are not too sore from the ER . I think 5 embies is a good number!
Mulligan - welcome to the thread, sorry I don't know anything about PCOS
Brandi - good luck with the ER tomorrow, I'll be thinking about you.
I had a rough night last night, and not much better of a day today. Hot flashes and night sweats all last night while sleeping, and headache all today. I don't know if the lupron has finally gotten to me or if it is the stims, since yesterday was my first day to take them. Does anyone know if the stims can cause hot flashes and night sweats?

Hi,
I was told to start progestrone the night of the retrival. My hubby was soooooo nervous, but I did not feel it so he is okay, my second one tonight. Take care all
Brandi- Good luck on retrieval tomorrow- hope you get a lot of eggs! Melanie- hope things go well tomorrow at your u/s- will that be day 7 of stims? Let us know Kerri- you and I started stims on the same day (yesterday) - how are you feeling? I hope the night sweats go away. I'm doing pretty well, except I'm a little sore on my stomach. I have one big, ugly bruise from a Follistim shot. Don't know why that happened when all the others went in fine. Lynn- Are you still doing okay with the PIO?
Hello, everyone! I have just recently joined this forum and I've been visiting the IVF forum. Cwrj00 told be to visit you, as I am about to begin my first IVF cycle. Here's the short version of my story:I am 29, from Greece. Husband 36.Children are the big love of my life. Suffering from PCOS, high prolactine levels. Husband small problem with sperm quality.
Trying for 2 years unsuccesfully. 5 ICI unsuccesful. During this time, I have been hospitalized once with nervous breakdown and I often feel that my life has no meaning. Have left work and tomorrow I am starting Daronda shots (suppression).I am actually visiting a cousin of my husband, who is also our dentist, so that he can show me how to do the shots! (he is diabetic, so he uses the insuline syringe that I will use). Husband insists to do the shots to me (had practised on our cat when she was sick!!!), but I prefer to do them myself. All of my friends keep having babies with no problem and even though I know they mean well, I cannot stand to here anymore "you must not be anxious" and "you are overreacting" and other similar suggestions. Am I turning into a bad person??!! I am really really nervous and this forum is very comforting for me. Thanks for your time and good luck to every one.

Hello all
Well ive woke up this morning with a very sore tummy, now ive read on here that some of you ladies get this when there stimming? im on day 8 of stimming does this sound right? and is it a good thing?.
Its just when i went for my scan on Sat he said my follies were still quite small,so i didnt think i would be able to feel them, however he did up my does, do u think that would have helped?
Sorry for all the questions! really dont know what i would do without this site
So much going on now that more of you are stimming. I started 225 units of Follistim and 5 units Lupron on Friday evening. My estrogen level (before stims) was 34 on Friday and had a baseline u/s. Everything was good to go.
Day 4 Stims: Since I came down with OHSS on my last fresh cycle, they decided to watch me closely this time. Had another u/s and blood this a.m. Things seem to be going along smoothly, but waiting to hear back on my blood tests today.
Lisapa, Alex & Mulligan - Welcome to the board and wishing best of luck in your IVF journey. It does work and I had success! Try not to get too worked up if you can and stay busy. Keep a positive attitude and try to find humor in the little things. That's all I can suggest. Most everything else is beyond our control.
lynneyd - Great job on your retreival. You are halfway there! You have a perfect number and as you said, it only takes one. Hope you are feeling better.
Carebear & Brandi - Best of luck to you today. Wishing you a quick recovery.
Jeneden - I think we are close to the same schedule. It's always nice to have a cycle buddy. Any one else begin stims on Friday?
kerribell - Lupron may create night sweats or hot flashes. You could always ask your dr if it seems to happen too often or you have concern, but it sounds like a normal reaction to your meds.
Take Care,
Sher8
