Anyone with a low beta go on to have a viable pregnancy?

Post by KAW »

Hi,
I got my first beta today and it's a 25...they want to see it around 50. Anyone have a similar result and go on to have a viable pregnancy? After having a chemical pregnancy during the first IVF, that's where my head is at although I'm trying to stay positive...it's very, very hard. I appreciate if anyone has any experience. I'll go in on Monday for Beta #2, that will be telling. I'm really, really tired of this whole process...it's so hard emotionally and I try and stay positive but then when you get bad news the lows are even worse...you know??? Anyway, thank you for listening. Take good care of yourselves. K

The lowest I've ever seen go on to live birth was just over 20 at ten days after blastocyst transfer. That's equivalent to about 12 days after a typical day 3 transfer.

It can happen.

Mine was 46 - this was 9 days post a 3 day transfer. Two days later it was 147. Are you getting a second beta?

You can also look at www.betabase.org for more comparisons.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the responses. It definitely helps to hear some perspectives. Ghost, I'm right in that range...I was a 1 embie, 3 day transfer and tested on day 12...so it's nicer to hear that there's still hope.

I'm going for the 2nd beta tomorrow...of course, I leave today for a work trip so I've tracked down a lab in the city I'm going to. I just keep saying in my mind "grow, grow, grow." We'll know tomorrow.

I saw that betabase website, that also gave me some hope.

Thanks again. take care, K

low betas + prayer

Post by tracigil »

Hi, I just had my beta 3 today and I thought I'd post my unusual situation since I have read many posts about low beta and the viability of pregnancies. 1st and 2nd betas were 3.2 and 8.13 (day 8 and 10). We retook Beta 2 on day 12 and it was 17.6. From all I read these were not good numbers even though they were doubling. I was scared. My husband and I began to pray together and got everyone we knew to pray for us as well, and today I was blessed with a Beta 3 of 1361 !!!!!!!! The staff at the clinic told me it was a miracle, and that they expected no more than 368 on our beta 3 at my old rate of progress. I guess what I'm trying to say is NEVER give up and use the power of prayer if you can, because all things are possible in Christ. Good luck and God bless to everyone.

Wow! Great story tracigil! Congrats as well!!! If this doesn't say it all then nothing will.

My beta was only 62 or 64 at 12dpt so I was happy but nervous and we ended up being pg with twins. After reading about a lot of people having really high numbers it was scary to be so low but we just clung to hope like it was our only lifeline.

Your numbers are doubling and that's a great sign. I hope you continue to have great news to report. Congrats and good luck!

I've heard of HUGE numbers from other people!! I know everyone is different... :)

Tracigi.. awesome story!! God is amazing!!!

Kimberly.. you just gave me goose bumps!! We are wanting twins.. we had 2 transferred.. and i thought my # was too low for twins.. but we still have hope!! :) :) I'll take ONE!! I'm just so excited.. after 6 years of TTC.. we finally have our first beta!! can't wait for the 2nd! :) :)

ttcnumber1~ Congrats on the BFP!!!! It's such a great moment when you finally here the words "You're pregnant!" We too were secretly hoping for two and I really didn't expect it to work on round one. We have just been so blessed with the best outcome and experience ever.

Good luck to you and I'll keep my fingers crossed for two! Then you can come join the "Double Trouble" thread! :D

Thank you all for sharing your stories. You give me lots of hope. I went for my 2nd beta today and it doubled. It went to 52 so we're still viable. I now go a week from today for beta #3 and an ultrasound. I'm definitely doing lots of praying, thinking positive and doing anything I can to hold on. I'm scared to be too hopeful so I'm really trying to manage my expectations but this is the farthest we've gotten. Thank you again for taking the time to respond. It helps!!! Take care and God Bless.

Hi Ladies,

I can't beleive all the positive stories from low beta's, i have had 2 chemicals, 1st one was 7.6, and my second was 14.3, unfortunately i lost both, but my clinic have reported a baby from a first beta of 3 so never give up hope.

good luck to you all, and i hope to join you all soon.

So I had beta 3 today and an ultrasound... and I really am BFP. Holy cow! My number is over 1100 which is right where it should be and I saw the gestational sac. I really didn't have much hope...I only had 3 eggs, 1 of which fertilized so only one transferred...and it worked. Thanks for the support of this forum. Reading some of your comments has definitely helped! Take care and God Bless!

congrats KAW, I am so happy for you.

As a follow up, I had my first ultrasound on friday and I am BFP. Even saw the heartbeat and sac. I went from the very lowest level of posibility (according to my beta scores) to pregnant in the space of nine days, so please NEVER stop hoping and praying.

Good luck to all.
