Hi all

Thanks for all your birthday wishes...yes tammy i too feel that turning 30 was worse. I have loved turning 40 and i can now officially ost on this thread!!!! as a 40 yr old. I honestly don't feel 40. @ of the girls in my street posted happy 30th through my door as they thought someone was pulling their legs saying i was 40!!!!

For my birthday weekend Dh and I were due to drive down to friends and family (200miles away) for a weekend blitz, but DH had PLANNED A SURPRISE! My sister arrived on my door step on friday afternoon she had taken time off work and driven up to see me. I thought that was it, and i planned to take her and explore our new town..BUT NO the door bell kept ringing all friday night and saturday, with friends and family arriving. Most people had booked B&B's but still had our 3 bed house packed out. On Saturday we ended up with a BBQ and night out at the Casino. The game was to only spend 10pounds. We all tried to make our 10 pounds last as long as we could. I was the only one who won any money and I won 180quid :D  Was dead chuffed by this and still am!!!! It was a late night and busy breakfast making Sunday. Can definatly see me doing B&B in the future after this LOL. Every1 left on Sunday night, so we were in bed by 10pm! Yesteday ( mon my birthday) i went out with local friends for lunch ( bubbily galore) and again out with DH at night for slap up meal and more Bubbily. Have still got 3 bottles of Bolli left ,I got as presents! I felt so lucky and loved by everyone. It was a real special celebration. Thanks to you all for your wishes x x Feel that getting married turning 40 and hopefully a BFP will be my 3rd celebration this year!!!!!

Anna to hear from you and Matthew is 3mths old wow!!!! Thanks for updating the list it will help us all remember birthdays etc! x x

Sonia- Did you have a fab time in Italy? was it not too hot? Have only been once to Italy in september and it ws roasting hot then but it is a lovely place to explore x x

Kim Having hope and Faith is such a blessing. Thank you for all your prayers to us x x May we all be blessed this year with our BFP's x x

Hey ladies, just heard from Dr. today and they will not do a shared cycle on a first time ED since they don't know the egg quantity. Therefore we will wait patiently until September. We will know by July if we can do a shared cycle for Sept. God is definitely teaching me patience.

Hi all, sorry I have been absent for so long, the build is taking up so much time, inbetween looking after Wills and running the house. Poor DH is pretty much fending for himself these days. Hey ho, it won't be forever. The builders are on the home straight now, all plastering and floors done, waiting for second fix plumbing and electrics.

I have been keeping an eye on the board, and yes Jen, it is very slow these days. I have also lost several posts, so hopefully this one will make it.

Jen I have added Wills' date of birth, he is the eldest of our little "clutch". Thanks for doing the list. It does help to keep up to date.

William was weighed yesterday at 21 weeks old and is a staggering 15lb 2oz's. He is such a big boy now, and getting to be quite a lump to carry about and pick up off the floor. My poor back is creaking under the strain!

Sorry, I don't have any more time tonight, wishing everyone well with their current and upcoming treatments.

Will try and get back on soon. Oh, by the way, happy 40th Jen, now you are really part of the over 40's instead of "guesting". Sounds like you had a fab weekend and birthday with all your friends/family. WHat a lovely DH you have for organising the surprises.

Speak soon again I hope,

Bev xxx

Hello
This is my first time aboard. Hope to get plenty of good information.
I am 44 and my DH and I are entering into the first stage of IVF. We've selected a donor. I first had to go through fibroid surgery and I'm now in a 8-wk recovery period. After my next cycle I will consult my Dr and I was told I would have to go through a mock cycle. While they prepare the donor for IVF. Anyone ever been through a mock cycle? Since this is my first time, I don't know exactly what to expect. Can anyone tell me what to expect after the mock cycle. I am also taking DHEA this is to stimulate my overies, Along with prenatal vitamins. On my first test my hormone level was 6.7 and the Dr said I could use my own eggs, but after the surgery It was checked again and it was higher. It's okay with me because I want to use donor eggs anyway. It's too risky using my own.
I have done plenty of reading on this and it seem that a lot of couples have not been successful on their first try. Has anyone in my age group ever gotten pregnant on their first IVF cycle.

Hi Gaile and welcome to our merry band of over 40 gals. Yes, I was one of the lucky ones to become pregnant with my first round of DE IVF. My aged eggs let me down on 2 cycles of IVF (own eggs at 44) and at 46 I had a successful treatment in the Ukraine with donor eggs.

We are now the proud parents of our 21 week old son, William.

I don't get too much time to post these days but anything I can help you with, please ask. Otherwise there are plenty of very knowledgeable people on this site too!!

Good luck,
Bev xxx

Thanks BevT

It's good to know someone did it on their first cycle. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. We are so looking forward to adding to our family. Can you tell me how you felt after the transfer, were you in pain? Also how long were you in bed after the transfer. Were you able to tell that you were pregnant, did you feel any different? Sorry so many questions but I want to know what to expect. I know everyone is different but at least I'll have an idea.

Thanks

Hi everyone!
Hello and welcome to Gaile. Well done for finding the site, it's a great resource and source of support as you go through the minefield of IVF. We got pg on our second transfer with donor eggs. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
You are right , every one feels different. There is no pain during or after the transfer. You may feel period like cramps but that is normal. You really can't tell if you are pg, only a blood test is 100%. A word of warning though.......stay away from the evil home pregancy tests if you can. You will find many stories on this site about ladies who tested early and got incorrect results.

How is everyone else?
Bev, Wills sounds perfect. Take care of your back! Do you do any exercise or yoga type stuff to help?Glad to hear the building works are progressing nearer to completion.
Jen, happy belated 40th. Now an official member of the thread. Have everything crossed for your next cycle of tmt. 'See' you in July.
Kat, hope you are having a fab time in Singapore with your sister. Looking forward to catching up with your news when you get back.
Kim, the waiting is so hard. PMA to you and hoping the weeks fly by to September.

As for us, we are fine. I went out last night for a meal with my antenatal group. We all left the babies with their dads and proceeded to the nearest bar! We had a great time, it was strange being out without Matthew but good to get a break too.

Hi To Tammy, Sonia, Yasmina and all lovely ladies on this thread
Hugs all round

Hello ladies!
I am back from my trip, had a wonderful time with my sister and nieces (Sophia 7 and Victoria 5 yrs old). Did loads more exploring and LOADS of shopping  spent far too much money but who cares, we had fun.

There is so much to do in Singapore even though it is small, people think it's only about shopping but there are rainforests & beaches, Chinatown, Little India, all waiting to be explored and believe me, I have walked for miles!

It was nice to come back and see DH and the pusscat but would be nice to be in Singapore rather than having to go back to work on Monday. If only it was a bit closer to home. Or if I could have some kind of Tomorrow People belt to jaunt around with (that won't make sense if you are in the US, sorry)

Glad to see everyone is doing OK and the babies are thriving. Jen happy 40th - sounds like a good time was had by all.

Gaile - welcome to the boards. I fell pg on my first donor cycle also but it was only very short lived. My second was negative. Much better chance with DE though at this age.

As for me and the whole ivf thing, well who knows. Don't have to decide yet so plan to just enjoy the summer....procrastination is a wonderful thing

Have a good weekend everyone
Love
Kat xx
