Started STIM June 15...any buddies?

Post by shep181 »

Hi Everyone,
I am new to this board (still trying to figure out all the abbreviations!) and I started IVF (Lupron May 31) stim last Friday, June 15. Anyone start at the same time?
Went for first US/BW yesterday, 7 follicles...back again tomorrow...

This is a great site...tons of helpful information, amazing stories!

I will be your buddy! Nice to meet you!

This is my first IVF cycle and I started Lupron on the 15th and stims on the 17th. Yesterday I went for my first ultrasound and bloodwork since being on stims and I had 7 good sized follicles and 4-5 that are further behind. I go back tomorrow for further monitoring. I am thinking I will have ER early next week, how about you?

Congratulations!
Yes, as it stands I will probably have the retrieval around Thursday...
I went for my second U/S today...up to 10 follicles over size 10, and 19 smaller ones!! Back again this Saturday...
If you're worried about increasing from 7 (as I was) it seems to be the pattern, they just popped up over the last few days. It's so hard to keep up with all the info flying at us!
Where are you from? I've been on Lupron since May 31...I didn't realize until watching this site just how many treatment avenues there are...seems to be geographic...

Congrats to you too!

So you think they will have you wait another week before retrieval? I guess I am totally off track then, because I figured I would have a Monday or Tuesday retrieval (purely a guess). Originally I was thinking Thursday the 28th, but after seeing my follicles I thought maybe I was ahead of schedule. Today is day 5 of my stims, so I am EXTREMELY anxious to see what tomorrows ultrasound brings!! I was really worried about only having 7 good sized follicles, but maybe tomorrow there will be a few more on the screen:)

We live NE of Houston, how about you?

I'm in NH...just over the Massachusetts boarder...
Don't be nervous about only having 7, I had 10 over size 10 today, and a few more close behind (I've never been so excited to see black blobs on a screen!). I was just as nervous when they said only 7 at my first ultrasound (which was what prompted me to find this site!), but that seems normal.
Are you doing ICSI?
According to my time chart with our clinic, they do the ER around day 14...which would be next Thursday, but I think my U/S this Sat will tell more. I guess 18 is the magic number...
Good luck tomorrow!!!!!

HI Shep181

..I'm also new here..Haven't figure out the abbreviations yet. I started my stimulations June 17. So far everything is good. I'm already having my retrieval on June 28. I have 9 eggs. My doctor gave me Gonal F..and cetrotide...and today trigger medicine (forgot the name of medicine). I'm 33 and DH is 37. I'm excited at the same time scared. I'm hoping that we get lucky on our first try.
Good luck and wish you all the best :)

Hi Nicky

Hi Nicky,
Congratulations!
I had my retrival yesterday, everything went well...25 eggs retrieved , 17 ICSI and 11 fertilized. Just waiting to hear who makes it to day 3.
It's my first time, too...what a bizarre process!! Quite an adventure as you're finding out as well...My DH and I are both 34.
Good Luck on Thursday, it really is a breeze and you will probably find they retrieve more eggs than you think. Also, if you are starting the Progesterone shots on Thurs, I had my first one yesterday and it wasn't bad at all. The anticipation was much worse than the shot!
I'll keep you in my prayers!

Hi ladies,

Well today is my big day. We will be leaving in about 45 minutes for the retrieval. I am not too nervous, but find it extremely odd that I am feeling better today then I have the entire time I was on stims! I am still a little bloated, but as far as cramping it is almost non existant. I hope everything is okay in there and that they find lots of good eggs. I will update as soon as I am awake enough to type:)

Congrats Shep on the great numbers. That is awesome! How are you feeling? I am a little nervous about PIO shots as well, but hopefully we will find a technique that works well and the anxiety I feel about them will subside.

Nickyblueyes this is my first round of IVF too. It sounds like we have about the same number of eggs! Good luck tomorrow, and keep us updated:)

Have a great day everyone!

Hopetobe:
How did you make out today??? Hope you're feeling ok...
Call me crazy, but the PIO shots (now on day 4) have not been bad at all. I am a little sore at night if I lay on my side, but barely. Poor DH turning white after each injection is worse than the actual shot! Where are they suggesting you give the PIO shot? Mine is in the outer hip...I know different centers suggest different places, but given the ease of it so far, I highly recommend it.
I am 4 days post ER, and my stomach looks like I've swallowed a watermelon! It's HUGE...they said with the number of eggs retrieved, that's normal. Drink tons of water and eat protein...even though you probably won't feel hungry. Other than that, I feel great!

Nicky,
How did you make out? Hope you're doing well...

My transfer is on Saturday...I'll let you know what to expect.
Have a great night,
Ericka

Well the ER itself went well, no problems. However, they didn't get very many eggs. They retrieved 5 eggs and according to the report this morning 3/5 were actually mature. Out of the 3 that were mature 2 fertilized. I was rather bummed out about this, but I am just praying that the two that fertilized are able to hold on! My RE called and said that with 2 we are looking at a Saturday transfer. I am optimistic but at the same time VERY scared about tomorrows report.

Yesterday after the ER I was so bloated and could not quit peeing. Today it has gotten better, although I am still a little bloated. I am feeling pretty good, but my PIO injection site for today is extremely sore. The one from yesterday doesn't hurt anymore, but the one from this morning is very sore. My RE told us to do the injection in the upper/outer quadrant of the rear end. I hoping it gets better but i am afraid the soreness is only going to get worse since I do them every single morning.

Well good luck on Saturday, you are so lucky to be having a 5 day transfer, I was really hoping for 5 day, but if we have enough good fortune to make it to day 3 I will be exstatic!!!

Have a great evening!

Stacey,
Glad to hear everything went well and you're feeling ok...don't be too disappointed about the 2 embies...that's all it takes!!
I have been EXTREMELY bloated, like I said, I just can't get rid of it! Other than that, just eat your protein and drink your gatorade.
With everything I read about the PIO shots, I am beginning to think I am giving them in the wrong spot!
We will have our transfer on the same day...I'll keep you in my prayers...I am assuming you will transfer both?
The clinic says we still have 11, but I am VERY apprehensive because they do not report the quality, so I'm not sure what to expect tomorrow.
Just counting our blessings...just think, we've all come THIS far...
Prayers to you and your family-in-waiting...

That is so great bobo! I hope that you get a big beautiful BFP on July 6th!

You are SO RIGHT about God hearing our prayers and ANSWERING THEM!!!! As everyone has read we have been on an emotional roller coaster. Yesterday, we got the call that we only had one embryo because the second one hadn't done what it needed to do. I was upset to only have one, but I prayed and had prayers coming from every part of the country. Well this morning when we went in for our single embryo transfer guess what!!! We had two BEAUTIFUL embryos to transfer!!! They are both perfect, one 8 cell and one 10 cell were transferred at about 8:30 this morning. I was so happy I could have cried, and I give all the glory to God! We are so excited and I can't quit looking at their adorable little pictures:) So now we just wait until July 11th to find out what is next!

Shep I hope that your ET went well today, I can't wait to hear about it.

Bobo and Stacey,
Welcome and Praise God for both of your miracles! HE truly deserves the glory for all of our blessings, and I can't imagine going through this crazy process without Him.

We were tested as well...we had consulted with our minister after our diagnosis. We were unsure if IVF was the right thing to do, or if adoption was the way we should go...we have been married and TTC for 10 years. When we decided to go forward with the process and started treatment, we received a letter stating that insurance would pay for none of the treatment or drugs. After a weekend of tears and prayer, it suddenly became very clear that God intended for us to go ahead, and we knew he would close the door if that was His will. So here we are!

Now we all just wait...! I go back on July 12...
Bobo, did you get pictures of the embies to take home? Stacey, I am addicted to mine as well...
Are either of you going to get home PTs??

Waiting........

hey shep181 hi how are you doing? we did not got our embies pictures they just showed them to us there were 3 embies 4 5 6 cell but growing according to the dr's. we are just praying for another miracle. yesterday we went to church for saturday mass and after that they had a healing prayer service so we stayed for that too.me and my dh prayed for everybody here in the board. i am not to sure about the hpt i do not want to put more stress on myself if nothing comes out. we will just wait until july 6 for the blood work. what is awesome about the 6th is that there is going to be a rosary at our church at 10am so after the blood work we will go over there, and then just come home wait for the "call". shep181 how old are you and where are you from? praying for a miracle and everything is in his hands.
