Hi ladies,
I have posted in the past regarding my inability to color my hair. I have put up w/ herbal dye last several months but now, I can't even bend down. I just don't want to deal w/ washing it off and cleaning up the mess. I really want my hair dresser to do it for me but he won't touch the herbal stuff. I would like to get my hair colored just once before my c-section ( in 5 weeks). What do you ladies think? Shouldn't it be pretty safe at this point?
Everything I have read says that it is perfectly safe and my hairdresser agrees. I also go to an Aveda salon and they use more natural pigments or so they say. I ask my hairdress to try keep the color off my scalp as much as she can even if it means I have to go in a week sooner.
I would think your hairdresser would try your stuff if you asked her to. Even my OB said it was fine. He just suggested making sure the place was well vented. Do what ever you are comfortable with in the end.
Good luck!
Kimberly

My RE said that the deal with hair color is a myth. Just try not to get in so many fumes, they may make you queasy. also, my hairdreser said she thought it was fine and that she did hair the whole time she was pregnant with her 2 children and they were very healthy babies.

If you can do highlights with foils the hair color doesn't even touch the scalp. I have highlighted my hair with this pregnancy and also with the last.......my son is extremely healthy and smart. I agree with the others as far as good ventilation and try to minimize contact of the color with the scalp. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
I agree with everyone else. I've colored my hair twice during this pregnancy. And my hairdresser pointed out that she was around the fumes from the dyes during her whole pregnancy and she is now the mother of two beautiful 6-month old daughters...
I agree too, you're fine. Just make sure you're in a ventilated area so you don't get dizzy or anything. After the first trimester I had mine done and I'm sure I'll have it done at least once more before it's over.
I live in NY and my hairdresser has hilarious stories about the Manhattan mavens getting their hair done while pregnant. One women went in for highlights, cut and the works when she was in LABOR, just so she would look good in the hospital pictures!
