holiday(flying) at 28 weeks-any thoughts?

Post by SJ BROWN »

Hi

I have an opportunity to go away with my best friend for 1 week @ end of Sept but I will be 28 weeks pregnant........(probably last chance of a holiday with her for a long long time)

It is to Mallorca & we will fly from a local airport & the flight is only about 1hr 40minutes

I will see what my midwife says when I see her on friday but was just wondering what you guys thought??

We do not need to decide yet as we have the leave booked & will just be a case if we can get something we will go if not we wont...........

take care all

We also have a trip planned around my 30th week of pregnancy. I have a feeling the answer will be no for me due to twins but I did ask. My OB said he would have to evaluate me right before the trip and then I would need to get my medical info and take it with me and also make sure I knew my closest hospital and route. This is only if I show no signs of preterm labor and we planned to drive so that I could stretch and walk around when needed.

In the end, I doubt I will end up going but I had to ask. Good luck finding your answer. Every OB feels differently about this from what I have read. Sounds like a fun trip if you should go!

Take care,
Kimberly

At 28 weeks if everything looks good at that point, you have no complications and are feeling well you can likely travel. With my first pregnancy I was told not to schedule any flights after 34 weeks. That being said every pregnancy is different and you should evaluate your situation. I wouldn't do anything too remote or far from a hospital just in case though.

I travelled (3.5 hrs) by flight when I was 16 weeks. I am glad that I did that because now I can't. If you don't have any complications or risk factors, go for it and enjoy yourself :)

girls, airlines might have some restrictions as well. So while checking with your OB check with the airline as well.

I mean 1.40 flight is not a big deal
