Sounds like you had a very exciting weekend too

We had to spend all day Saturday trying to find the one med that was not in the package I received that morning. Of course it was the Lupron, which I was to start on Sunday morning.

We finally found a tiny little PX that carried the Lupron, and the DH drove the distance to pick it up. Crisis averted!

I started the drugs for the first time. All went fine. I freaked out a little about the swelling, but so far so good.

Anie, where are you in UK? We just saw Michael Moore's documentary "Sicko" yesterday, and he painted quite the rosy picture of health care over there. Wondering how true that is to life.

Hello Everyone,

I ended up starting Lupron last week and my planned FET will be one of the last days of July.

This cycle is alot easier and less stressful then a Fresh Cycle. For those who are new to IVF, if you have any questions, let me know.

lisa0417 - the last time I did IVF it seemed like time was flying by because everything was so new. Now, that I know what to kinda expect, I am on pins and needles to get this show on the road. Guess I need to start practising patience now


LisaPa - I'm doing ICSI too...I mean if we are going to pay so much for IVF and meds that why not do a sure bet with ICSI, KWIM?

Anie - My weekend was rained out! DH works on July 4th, so we decided to have an early BBQ. Huge storm came out of nowhere...but I was lucky to get my hot dogs before it hit...dh not so lucky

Julieboo - Glad you got your meds!

doddo72 - I have 2 frosties from my first cycle. I'm praying for a BFP and that this one sticks. If not, I will have some questions for you in the future...if you are not too busy after your BFP

Well, I went in today to check my E2 levels but won't know a thing until later this evening. I will let everyone know by then. I usually go in and they stick me and I'm gone in less than 10 mins. I guess Bev,the person who always does it, is out on vacation. The second I saw the new girl I knew it would be trouble. I have small veins anyway, thanks mom, and I know which arm and site to go to. Well, she did not want to listen...and after 3 painful tries, I wanted to smack her silly. I finally had to ask for a seasoned nurse. The nurse saw my arm, it was turning red and blue in spots, she freaked out. She knows my history with the vein thing, made the other little girl stay and learn......got it in the first try! I had band aids every where LOL. I made DH think I was in a torture chamber and he is doing all the light housekeeping for me....so a painful day turned to my favor !

Glad to see everyone is holding in there.... I have a question what is this medication everyone is sniffing? I was not given anything like that. I was just given lupron, follistim, ovidril and progesterone..... I think my RE does things diffrent than anyone else. Not sure why. I am so happay thursday is almost here i get to start this whole process.. I cant belive i am happy about stabbing myself (go figure). For those of you interested i am almost done with DAY 3 AND NO SMOKES....WOOOOHOOOO I AM cleaning out my system with hopes of getting a BFP i DO NOT WANT MY EMBIE GOING INTO A SMOKE FILLED WOMB.. that is the only thing that keeps me going.

Amie, I'm in Chicago, IL, and fortunately we've got really good fertility insurance coverage.

Lisa, congrats on the no smoking! What better reason to stop than for a lil bambino?

So far, so good on the Lupron. DH is quite enjoying sticking needles in me every morning. It's definitely not as bad as anticipated.

LisaPa - Congrats on your 3 day milestone...you can do it! As far as what everyone is sniffing, I don't know either so let me know if you get an answer.

Julieboo - my husband is the same way with the injections...he acted that way with the progesterone (sp) from last cycle.

I got the call from my nurse and I began my stimming meds today! Bravelle and Menopur (sp)...so let the party begin in my ovaries!

Anie - I will also be at Holly House, have you had tmt there before? This will be our last set of tmt, I can't deal with the mental stress of BFN's!!!

LisaPa - well done on the no smoking front, the first few days are the hardest, so once you are over them you'll be fine!

My first inj.i did it my self but yesterday i asked dh to do it so he can be more involved.I found easier when is him doing then my self so from now on that will be his job

Thanks for all your support on the smoking issue Well today is day 4 and I am Ok still going through some cravings but its getting better everyday. I really have no choice my RE will not start my lupron if i am smoking. as per her she does not want me to do anything that will lower our chances on conception...

IVF Stage 1
The first stage of IVF treatment involves taking a nasal spray or subcutaneous injection of GnRH or Gonandotrophin releasing Hormone analogue. This drug temporarily stops the normal activity of the ovary so that ovulation does not occur when the ovaries are being stimulated. It shuts down the ‘normal’ ovarian function. Some women may experience side effects from the nasal spray or injection. These can be headaches, hot flushes or mood swings. The symptoms can be similar to that of PMT. The nasal spray or injection is taken for approximately two weeks. An ultra sound scan will then be performed to ensure that the ovaries are inactive.

Well done with stopping smoking! I can appreciate just how hard it is!

Re the question about sniffing. I downregged by sniffing Nafarelin aka Buserelin(two sniffs twice a day). I am sniffing still twice a day all through my stimming too so we can ensure I dont ovulate until the docs need me to.

I am on Day 6 of stimms and my stomach is bloated and quite sore. Guess I need to keep an eye on symptoms for OHSS. I don't have any monitoring until Day 9 of stims. Is this usual? Are any of you having Bloodwork/scans etc?
