Kate21 and lwalker25 - WELCOME KATE AND LEE :D !

cwrj00 - Tracey thanks for updating the list....didn't know if you wanted us to note our next steps or send them to you but I will make my changes from now on. Sorry your feeling bloated. This is only my second day of my stimms and I feel the same way. I came home from work, grabbed something to eat, and flopped on the couch. I have this nagging headache too. The last IVF cycle that I had...no problems! So, this is all new to me.

LisaPa - thanks for the info! So, it is basically like my lupron without the evil needle  !

So, aside from bloatedness and pesky headache, I guess everything is going smoothly :? I have my b/w and u/s on 7/7/07. Tracey...I wouldn't think it would be that long. But all clinics are not the same. I think my scan is a little longer than before but my protocal is the same as last time.

All the best!

cwrj00 wrote: Re the question about sniffing. I downregged by sniffing Nafarelin aka Buserelin(two sniffs twice a day).

In the Us it is called Synarel. same drug. Basically puts you in a menopausal state where your hormones get put to baseline so you can start fresh with other meds to used to stimulate your hormones to adequate levels needed conceive/maintain pregnancy....sort of a way to get let's say a fresh start or controlled environment. Sorry...pharmacist in me! Side effects include menopausal like effects...hot flashes, head aches etc. Synarel like Lupron is also used in treating things like endometriosis....put em in menopause and the endo doesn't fluctuate like the uterine tissue it is and it actually shrinks because it needs the hormones to "grow". When using them for treatment in fertility as the case is here, you aren't using them long term like you would in endo, but long term use can result in osteoporosis (another SE of menopause).

Hope that helps somewhat

Hi
I'm new to this board and thread. I am 34, in the US and want to be a single mom BAD! So I am considering AI but I have to wait and see what the doc says at my first appointment Friday the 13th....

I hope to be able to do IUI and I hope I can start ASAP!!! My story goes as follows....I'd like to be "successful" with DS by Oct so I could be due by July...that is my ABSOLUTE max for now because of my job...I have a contract until next June. I think I can stomach the place until July then go out on maternity (the sooner the better though hehe). If I am not due to deliver by July I will stop and wait until after next June once I find a new job. At that point I would start again....though I truly hope I don't have to wait that long.

My concerns are that I have been on BC for a long while and I am afraid they will want me to "wash" my system...ugh. Nooooo. Insurance also doesn't pay for a dime so I hope to avoid high price testing etc. Anyone been on BC then immediately been able to attempt conception?

Oh well I better go clean the house...yeh Happy 4th of July to me haha....hopefully it is my last one alone :D

Welcome Bernie and Pequele!

Not too much to report today. Had some yummy bbq from my best friend bacause I'm feeling pretty bad from the stimms. It's so weird because I had no pain at all with the last cycle. I have every side effect...headache,bloated,dizzy, and cramping. I guess I'll just have to tough it out with some extra strength tylenol.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Donor sperm questions

Post by pequele »

Since I hope to be able to pick a donor soon I had a few questions for those in the know....

I am concerned about donor age. Why? Some studies have shown the older the father the higher the chance of autism. Would you consider the "age" however, the age at which the sample was obtained? Is there a way to find out how long the sample has been frozen?

Is it totally twisted to be born in 1973 and pick a donor born in 1986??? I mean that would make me 13 when he was born.....eewwww hahaha. When picking a donor did you pick someone close in age to you or was that really of concern? I mean I know I am not going on a date with him so I don't have to play transformers with him but still!

thanks

Hi Ladies
All well here...the stimming seems to be going OK (although my clinic doesnt test or scan until day 9 of stims) so who knows how my follies are doing! Intermittent tenderness in my stomach but i dont know if that is my ovaries or the bruising from the injections. I have my scan and blood test tomorrow.
I am still quite emotional and seem to cry at any news whether it is good or bad.....life quite interesting for DH at the moment. I was finding it quite hard to keep him up to date with how I was feeling so I decided to keep a journal (for the first time in my life). Every few days I update it. I already find it incredible to look back over and I have told DH he can read it whenever he likes. This whole process really is a rollercoaster.

Pequele: Re your donor age....I think you should just go with gut instinct. Do you get much profile information on each donor. I must admit at 37, I might just be convinced to go for a "toy boy" donor! (Just kidding!)Ref the BC question, I am afraid I seem to be on a different protocol - we dont use the BC at all at my clinic so cant shed any light on options for you.

LisaPA: you are doing so well with the no smoking! You should be really proud of yourself. Good Luck with starting Lupron tomorrow. How many days will you be on that for?

Hello Kitty: The side effects of the stims arent very pleasant. I keep trying to tell mself the bloating in my stomach is my ovaries growing big healthy eggs....and not a result of me eating everything in the fridge on a daily basis!!!

Bernie: Hi! Good luck tomorrow at your appointment. Let us all know how you get on

Have a good day everyone

LisaPa - awesome...your starting your Lupron. Doesn't always seem like forever to get started? Happy poking (the lupron that is  )! BTW, feeling much better, thanks!

Pequele - I would consider the donor's age and it would go for the younger hottie! I don't know much about that process so please keep us updated.

cwrj00 - Tracey, I'm so excited for you on your scan tomorrow. Did your dr tell you where you should be at that stage? I'm hoping the bloatedness is a good sign that follies are right on schedule. I tried the journal too but only end up back here :P ...Dh always seems to make himself vanish after I take the injections LOL.

As for me, I'm feeling much better...guess I had to get use to the stimms...so did DH! Tracey is right...the mood swings can make you feel a little wacky. So, I guess you can say I'm on an upswing. I have my b/w and u/s on Saturday morning at 8:15. Have to travel an hour and a half but it is so worth it!

Wishing everyone the best,

Morning girls!

Just thought I'd update you, AF arrived yesterday and I am booked in for my first scan on the 12th July. If all goes to plan then FET should be around the 24th!!! Back on the rollarcoaster.....here's hoping that its a good ride!

Pequele - I would definitely go for younger man!

Tracey - how's the bloatedness? I had mild OHSS on my last IVF, quite uncomfortable. But you should be fine as you haven't had EC yet, its a sign that your ovaries are working well!

LisaPa - excellent news on the scan, you'll have a BFP before you know it!!

Hope evryone else is doing well, have agood weekend

Hi ladies,

Hope all is well with everyone. I am in need of advice. Is there anything i should so prior to the injection I have heard to ice the area and i have also heard heat to the area helps???? That just confuses matters I think im just going to do it without ice or heat ... Has anyone done either? If so please advise my first lupron injection is in the am.

Thanks a bunch

Day 9 of stims: First scan and Bloodtest.
I am not quite sure if I should be happy or not but here are the results of the scan. Left ovary: 7 follicles (13,11,11,8,7,7,6) Right ovary 6 follicles (10,9,8,7,6,5). The doc said that this is a good number but they really need to grow a lot bigger before retrieval (they need to be 20mm). She said the 5 and 6mm follicles may not produce mature eggs I have to stay on stims over the weekend and have another scan on Monday Morning. Retrieval is now likely to be towards the end of next week. The clinic average approx 7 mature eggs per patient so I guess I should be hopeful of achieveing that number. I feel kind of down as I was expecting more eggs which were bigger.
Does anyone know what size the follicles should be at this point?

Hello Kitty and Kate: Bloating still here but I am really only uncomfortable for about 2 hours after injecting the Puregon.

LisaPA: I havent found the stims difficult as I am using a subcutaneous pen. You actually cant feel the needle go in and there is only mild discomfort when taking the needle out. I was told to take the puregon out of the fridge 5 minutes before injecting to bring the drug to room temperature. Apparently it lessens the discomfort. the 7/7/7 is apparently the luckiest date this century! A very good date to be starting IVF!!!! Good Luck with your first injection!

Hello Kitty: Good luck tomorrow! I cant wait to hear how you are doing!

Kate: Fab news about the scan on the 12th. What actually happens on a FET cycle?

I will update the list on Sunday so if you can, please post your latest info. Any other ladies not yet posting let me know your details and feel free to join us!!

Hi

I think you will be fine, I only ended up with 5 follicles on my right, nothing on my left and around day 9 they were about 8 to 9 and and I ended up with 5 eggs of which 3 fertilised of which 2 4 cells embryos were put back, none for freezing so I thinkyou will be ok,

Good Luck and let us know how you get on at your next scan
