Tams, what I have now (after my operations) is pretty much an arcuate uterus - it has a "dent" on top but is still just one cavity. As the uterus is otherwise normal in size, my RE is predicting a very good outcome although the HSG images don't look exactly like a normal uterus. He explained that with a cavity like this, we won't have the problem of the uterus not being able to expand properly (with septums this is what causes most late miscarriages). I did find out, on my own, about what an arcuate uterus means, statistically, for a reproductive outcome and it's good news: not much! Most women with known arcuate uteri have pregnancy outcomes that compare to those of women with no uterine anomalies. So I wouldn't worry too much about this - no pregnancy is ever 100% "sure" anyway.

P.S. My increased risk for early delivery has to do with having had two uterine surgeries (and not the remaining dent). The risk is, however, smaller than the risk I would have had for late mc/early delivery WITHOUT the resection of the septum.

Rae – sorry I forgot you had had surgery, I haven’t had any surgery on mine as in the UK they don’t seem to think its necessary. Thanks for replying with lots of info for me it’s very much appreciated. If its not one thing I’m worrying about its another. I hope to have more info on how my uterus looks after the scan tomorrow, but seeing as the septum in nearly half way through my uterus I’m not convinced I will go to term, As long as I can get to about 35 weeks I will be more than happy, it’s the late M/C that’s the worry! But lots pf PMA and I’m sure all will be ok in the end.

I’m off work at the moment on the sick I have this horrid cold that I can’t get rid of, wish there was something safe to take but saying that I probably wouldn’t take it then JUST IN CASE!!!!

Rae, thank you so much for your reply that has really helped ease my mind. I think you can always trust a women in want of a baby to do better research than any medical expert in the world! I wish you all the best with your pregnancy, it sounds as though the prognosis is very positive for all of us. As you say Sha, we aim for around 35 wks and anything more is a bonus, besides I know a number of friends who have had pre-term births (one at 29 wks ) due to pre-eclapmsia, so you just never know what might happen. At least we will be monitored and steroids administered if things do look like they're getting tight in there.

My next scan is at 21 wks, not until the 14th August which is just an age away. I may go and see the private consultant who diagnosed our problems before then and see whether he thinks a scan sooner might be sensible. Otherwise we'll stick with what the nhs are saying - so far I've only spoken to one midwife about it who hadn't even heard of the term - did not fill me with confidence!

hi all

just had our 16 week scan and it was wonderfull. what a change since the 12 week one both myself and DH were stunned. your could see everything so plain, s/he played up a little and wouldn't pose for any photo (must be like the mum shy!!!) we did manage to get a few in the end but they aren't that clear but at least we got to see the little bean.

its a definate for us that we are not going to know the sex as it hospital policy not to sex the unborn child!!! so at least now we can just get on and keep guessing insted of bickering about who want to know and who doesn't.

well ladies i can't stop smiling at the moment and must look like some kind of mad woman sat here grinning at the lap top!!!!
