Lupron - stop using it?

Post by katienphil »

Hi. I'm new to these boards and trying to find information.

I'm 31 and am trying my second fresh IVF cycle. We did a fresh cycle in 2004 and had success. We tried a FET in Dec 2006 and lost the babies in January 2007 to ectopic and miscarriage.

During my first IVF cycle in 2004, I started Lupron prior to my period for my cycle and then continued it all the way until trigger shot.

This time, they want me to stop today (it is CD2 and I just started stimming today with Follistim). Is this normal? I've never heard of stopping Lupron so early...

Katie- Everyone I've ever known has always taken the Lupron right through stims and up to the trigger. The dosage is usually dropped to half, but you still take it. I would definitely call your doctor tomorrow- maybe you misunderstood. Hope that helps!

Katie~
I agree that you should inquire again with your RE. If I recall correctly, I was getting the lupron shot until my trigger as well. This was my first cycle so I only have one round to refer to but I would call in the morning.
Best wishes to you and DH!
Take care~

There are protocols that call for stopping Lupron early in the cycle. They are not the common protocols.

I'd confirm with the doctor if in doubt about the instructions.
