Wessex Fertility Clinic - Southampton, UK

Post by CarolineP »

I would be grateful if anyone could give me feedback on their experience (good and bad) for the Wessex Fertility Clinic in Southampton, UK. I am considering them for treatment for a 2nd baby as I am over the age limit for a fresh cycle with my previous clinic.

My only current concern is that they dont have a waiting list - does this mean that they are rubbish and no-one is willing to go there. I have had a look at their figures and reports from the HFEA website and everything seems OK.

Any feedback would be appreciated - thank you

Hi Caroline

i am 16 weeks pregnant after tmt at Wessex fertility.............

We had several ICSI cycles & FETS but unfortuantly were not successful...we were advised to go down the doner route which was a success......I admired their honesty as although we always had good fertilisation rates the embryos never implanted and they said they were happy to continue down this route but after so many cycles did not think it would work and did not want to see us wasting anymore money, hence the doner route.........(i am fine, we have male factor)

one of their consultants Dr Chantal Simonis has returned......she was there when we started tmt 6 years ago (clinic was origanly at Chalybeate Bupa in Southampton prior to the new clinic being built) but left for pastures new...She is really really good & specialises in PCOS(polysystic ovary syndrome)

On our 1st cycle i overstimulated & on her advise we did not have transfer & did an electivie freeze which prevented me from ending up in hospital on a drip..

All the staff are really friendly, especially Jan......so all in all i would definitely recommend them.............we had approx 9 tmts in total & never once considered changing clinics & it is a bonus that there is not a waiting list..

Wishing you lots of luck
Sarah

Sarah

Thank you for your reply, I now feel more comfortable at the prospect of treatment at the Wessex. Due to my advancing years, I am having some hormone tests via my GP to see it another fresh cycle is viable and then hope to proceed at the Wessex.

Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy and I look forward to your updates.

Caroline I went to Wessex to. I did end up with OHSS on my first cycle and ended up in Hospital. We froze all the embryos and I now have a beautiful baby girl. The Wessex fulfilled my dream for me.

Good luck
