Windy Pessaries!!

Post by desparado »

Hi, this is quite an embarrasing question, but has anyone had any problems while taking the progesterone pessaries (in particular wind? Im farting like theres no tomorrow). Im sure i could set up my own wind farm!), Im on cyclogest 400mg X2 pd. Hubby is disgusted with me but i cant help it!! Sorry if ive put anyone off their tea.

Another question less embarrasing, does anyone know if its ok to exercise? Ive been told not to do anything too strenuous, i used to go the gym, cycle, swim and run but have barely walked 100m since ET on 2nd July! Partly cos i havnt been in the mood but partly cos i dont know what is safe? Anyone help?

Thanks, X X

Hi Desparado
Oh my god....please dont get me started on my wind issues!!!!
I am on cyclogest pesseries(progesterone) twice a day,and previous to this i had the world convinced that i didnt fart,
However now let me tell you, everyone within 100 meters of me knows different...and also it doesnt smell of rose petels either.

So no your not alone

Goodluck hon

Oh no, the exercise question! We have debated this quite a bit. There are different schools of thought all over the internet. I even read one article that stated infertility was caused by too much exercise. I am by no means a doctor, but I am of the opinion that if it's good for you, it can't be bad for your fertility. That being said, I think you should show a little restraint. Don't go out busting butt on the treadmill everyday. My doctor, back when we first started ivf, said that I did need to gain a little weight as the embrio likes a little "stomach to hold on to". (Definitely the first time anyone has ever told me to gain weight!!!!) But I've consistently worked out during my whole pregnancy/trying to get pregnant period and have been fine. I've just toned down my work outs---instead of an hour of cardio daily I just do 1/2 an hour. Stuff like that. And my doctor had said no aerobics during ivf. It's a tough one because without exercise I feel so horrible.

I'm not sure about the whole "wind" issue except that i remember having a little more um, blow, while on the drugs. If I remember correctly, it was a whole lot of wind and little stink, though, so hopefully that's true for you too!!!!!

Wishing you best of luck and lots of baby dust!

Hiya

I love this site - you've just totally put my mind at rest! Ever since EC last week i've been so uncomfortable, still a little sore and swollen which hasnt been helped by the fact that my tummy is full of trapped wind which is pressing on my sensitive areas! i also i know about it when my bladder is full!! i have been conserned that it was a pelvic infection or somthing, it has caused me so much discomfort. hope all that wind is extra protection for my little embryo although that is worring me too!

We shouldnt be embarassed about such things as last week i beared all to a room full of people as i'm sure most of you have! however when i mentioned this problem to a nurse on our own she told me to mention it to the dr during ET (plus the whole room full of people) of course i didnt and am still suffering!! ha!

thanks desparado for bringing the subject up!

As for the exersice thing, just take it easy and dont do too much. i was told that you body will tell you if its had enough!

I don't know if it is different with pessaries than with hormones in general. I am on the injections so no experience with pessaries, but even with my first pregnancy which was a natural one I had wind issues. I am currently 9w pregnant and a week or two ago my husband made some comment like "It certainly sounds like you're pregnant".

Typical! Can i ask another question, why is it more ok for men to fart and not women? :? Anybody got the answer to that? My DH finds it disgusting and regrets the day he told me to fart in front of him, he sits there with his tshirt pulled over his nose more often than not lately! Theres no stopping me now.........................I CANT HELP IT (its the pessaries)!! X
