I have just had both tubes removed and ovary drilling done before starting ivf. (we were going to start in a week)
BUT now my doctor wont start til mid august as he says he didnt want tubes removed or drilling to be done!! He only wanted tubes clipped. He claims blood supply to the ovaries will now be reduced. He didnt say anything else!
I take it you have PCOS? if im right i think ovary drilling is used to try to make you ovulate regularly and is normally only done after trying (in your case) IVF once to see how you respond also as far as i know ovary drilling does not reduce the blood flow to your ovary.... and the tube snipping i am familiar with i also have blocked tubes my Dr talked this over with us before our 2nd IVF, now as i learnt it's not the surgery itself that can cause blood flow to the ovary to stop .... not sure if you know this so forgive me if you do.... you have your tube going from your womb to your ovary right next to that running parallel is a small vein that carry's the blood supply to your ovary in some cases and i think it's very rare (depends on how bad your scaring is ect) when they snip your tube they can accidentally snip this vein so as long as they didn't and i think you would know if they did then your ovary will still function...
I'm not a medical professional and this is just as i understand it...i hope it helped, i would 100% call your Dr back and make him explain also find out why you had surgery done he didn't ask for ?
wishing you loads of luck Aunty

Thank you so much for the reply Aunty,
I appreciate all the info very much! I have polysistc ovaries but not pcos They look polysistic but blood tests revealed I am not!
I will be seeing the doc who preformed the surgery on tuesday and will expect some answers! I assume (I am new to this!) the vein was removed with the tubes??and this is why the 1st doc is concerned about blood supply!
Both my DH and MIL have been on the internet and nothing suggests what the 1 st doc said so maybe he is being over cautious? I will find out on tuesday.
Thank you so much for the reply. Good luck to you.
Best wishes
sarah
Hi Sarah.... your very welcome i really do hope you get all the answers you need make sure you understand everything they are saying to you i think Dr's sometimes forget we are lay people...also no they wouldnt remove the vein if they did your ovary would have no blood supply and stop working.
loads of luck...hugs Aunty
