HPT Addict...Help!

OK...I admit it. I have recently becme addicted t the dreaded HPT. I am now 8dp5dt, and I am getting BFN...I know the answer is I may be testing too early, but has anyone out there not gotten a BFP on a HPT until after day 8?

Shep- I am 8dp3dt and just got a SUPER FAINT- positive test this morning. Yesterday, it could not have been more negative. So, I don't know if this is real or not. I'm going to test again tomorrow. I know lots of people who say this is waaaaaaayyyy too early to be testing, so I don't know. I would try again tomorrow.

Hi, Im only 6dp3dt (x2 8 cell) and my DH went out yesterday to buy a HPT! Im getting all the symptoms of being preggers but also symptoms of monthlys.

Im really tempted to test but after reading loads on site saying its too early, i probs leave it til Wed/Thurs. Im trying to hold out as long as poss to not tempt fate! Its soooooooo hard though, the idea you might be preggers is too much to bear..........Good Luck, let us know if you get a BFP!! X X

At 6dpd3ET, even the blood test won't find it (except maybe a trace left over from the trigger shot). The HPT will have no chance of picking it up that early.

I must admit i had to look up the abbrevs before i started replying to msgs! Dont be afraid to ask, theres loads of people who dont know, sometimes half the fun is trying to guess what they all mean! I am now tallking in code to my DH (dearest hubby) who hasnt got a clue what im saying, im sure he thinks im going mad!!!
Shep - how are you feeling today, you had a pretty rough day yesterday too didnt you? Just wondered if you feel more positive?

Yes, today is much better...we had just spent 5 days with my in-laws (I love them dearly, but that's a LONG time in our current mental state!) and we are home now. Thanks for asking! How about you? Feeling any better?

Hi Shep - Yes feel a bit better, its just the unknown, are we or arnt we? Its so frustrating not being in control and not being able to do anything about it! Still got cramps and backache now too but this site is really helping me.
Test on16th but will prob do a HPT on Wed/Thur, thats 9/10dp ET.
When do you test?

Hi Desparado,
It IS the waiting that's a killer! I know that God is in control and we will accept the results either way, but I am having trouble being patient, which is usually not a problem for me (BLAME THE HORMONES!!) I was actually much better before I became addicted to the dreaded HPT...
I test the 12th, only 4 more days...I feel for you having another weekend to sit through!
I agree this site is such a comfort!
How many embryos did you transfer?

Hi Shep - im naturaly impatient which is why im itching to do a HPT but prob not worth it like Ghost said. We can blame the hormones for everything at the mo......!
I had 2 8 cell embies on a 3dt. My first time, its very scarey, dont know what to expect! Is this your first time too?

Desparado- I am scheduled for b/w on Thursday the 12th, but I'm going to email my nurse and see if I can get in sooner- "Hi, my name is Jennifer and I'm a hpt addict!" I went out this morning and bought two different kinds of tests and both came back positive (I held my pee for 4 hours). I have had a chemical pregnancy and an early miscarriage, so I know that getting a BFP doesn't mean too much for me, but am hoping that this time it's for real!!! This is my first IVF after 3 years of trying and 4 failed IUIs. I am 38 - so have the lovely "Advanced Maternal Age!!" How about you?

I wouldnt be able to hold on for that long, id wet myself!

Jen and Desparado,
This is my first IVF as well...my DH and I are 34, TTC for 6 years, just thought it would happen and then found out his sperm count made ICSI our only option.
I only had one blast put back, with others frozen (not sure how many yet)...seems like 2 is the norm ET on this site and I am wondering if that would have been better.

I test on the 12th too...let me know how you make out with your ploy to get the early BW...in addition to my own HPT habit (bought value packs of both the digital and regular this morning...) I thought of calling my primary care doc to see if I could get a test on Wed!! I think I've lost it!
