andrea2251 - Thanks for the tip on water before giving blood. I didn't know that, I'll have to try it.

I just got off the phone with my nurse and I'm feeling a bit better about all of it today. I'm sure the fact that my body is flooded with Estrogen isn't helping me get a hold of my emotions! But she said my E2 dropped a bit, and they are going to have me take 50ut of Gonal-F today along with the 5ut of Lupron and go back in tomorrow for another E2 and u/s. They want my eggs to continue to develop and they don't want my E2 to drop any more, rather just maintain. So at this point, she said I should expect to trigger either tomorrow or Wed for a retrieval on Thurs or Fri.

She said I'm definitely at risk for OHSS due to my age and number of eggs but that there were some things that she was going to have me do to help prevent it. Like increasing fluids and protein, things like that. She said that she'd never had a patient hospitalized with OHSS who followed her instructions. So hopefully without jinxing it, I'll definitely be following her instructions.

Are you nervous about tomorrow?

lightcomingon - How did your retrieval go today? Did you get lots of eggs? How are you feeling? I hope everything went well and you have lots of little embryos growing right now!

hoping4bfp -

Glad to hear things are looking up! Sounds like you will have a nice number of eggs for retrieval. Always think positive. The way I see it, if you spend a cycle blindly optimistic, your general mental health will be better and it'll help your chances for pregnancy. That's what I do, granted it hasn't worked so far, but it sure is fun to imagine being pregnant.

Having said that, I'm pretty nervous. My stomach is upset, which usually happens when I'm extra nervous. My RE expects about 10 follicles will be ready, but you never know how many they will actually get, or how many are mature or how many will fertilize.

I hope things went well for lightcomingon. . .

andrea2251 - I hope it went well for you today. How are you feeling? Did you get a bunch of eggs? I hope you get lots of little embryos! When do they let you know how things are going? My RE said they'd call me on day 1 and day 3 and then day 5 if they decide to go to day 5.

I'm triggering tonight at midnight. So my retrieval will be on Thursday. I'm excited and nervous about it.

Hi there!

I'm back and things went well. The only problem was getting the IV in. Everything else was a breeze. I'm bloated right now, but not really in any pain. The procedure was really quick (about 30 minutes, plus recovery time). They got 16 eggs!!! I'm so excited! My RE only expected 10!! They'll call me later today to tell me how many are mature. They'll call me tomorrow to tell me how many fertilized. Then they'll call me the following day to update me on the embryo quality and schedule my transfer. They usually do 3 day transfer, unless they "can't decide which embryo is the best", then they do 5 day.

Good luck with your retrieval Thursday. I was so nervous, but it was really quick and simple. Nothing to be worried about. The great thing is getting to be pampered for the next couple of day! I got my husband to take me to the store to look at new couches! (Not that we'll be able to afford one until we pay off the IVF!)

Well, had my egg retrieval yesterday. DP drove me down and we had a pleasant ride down the Pacific Coast Hwy. Nice and relaxing.

Everything went well. They retrieved 12 eggs and I just got the call that 7 fertilized. PGD will be done this week and my transfer should be Friday. I hope at least one is good enough to put back in!

Good luck to the rest of my stim buddies!

Hi gals -

Lightcomingon - 7 embryos, that's great! I hope the PGD went well.

Hoping4bfp - Good luck with your retrieval today.

I have my transfer tomorrow (same as Light). The lab called to tell me that we have 10 fertilized eggs (won't know cell count or quality until tomorrow). The 2ww is going to be horrendous! I could barely wait for the lab to tell me how many made it overnight! I'm going to be one of those kinds of moms. . . (I hope)

When you gals get a chance, let me know how it's going.

My retrieval went well. They said I got 15 eggs! I hope lots of them fertilize. But I won't find that out until tomorrow. I don't know anything about maturity or quality at this point, tomorrow will be exciting. I'm feeling pretty good, a little sore. My hand is more sore from the iv than anything else. And the progesterone shot site is sore. But nothing I can't live with. I will either have my transfer on Sunday or Tuesday depending on how the fertilization process goes.

andrea2251 - That's great that 10 fertilized! I have no previous experience with this but that sounds very promising to me! I hope you get lots of healthy embryos.

lightcomingon - 7 embryos is great! Do you know how many you're going to transfer?

I hope the transfer goes well for both of you tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you. And I agree 100% the 2ww is going to be terrible! I think that this is the only thing I'll be able to think about for the next two weeks. Not that that's so different than it's been up until this point. But it's down to the wire now.

Good luck everyone!!!!

Yeah Andrea and Hoping! Both are such a good amount of eggs to work with! I agree with you guys though... The IV thing does suck. You are dehydrated, veins are small and then they have to try and find a juicy one! Ugh!

The PGD doc called me this evening to let me know that out of the 7, 4 appear to be normal and get this, all are girls! My 3 boys were not chromosomally normal.... :(

So the question is now... How many to put in? 2 and then freeze 2? Go for three? Decisions....

Wow, all girls huh! I don't think I'll know what the sex is of mine since we're not having chromosomal testing done.

As for how many to put back, that's a tough one... My clinic will only do a max of 3, but I think I want them to do three on me. Of course I really don't know how many I'll have to choose from because I don't know how many fertilized yet. But the statistics that they gave me showed that if you put 2 back on day 3, you have a 30-50% chance of a pregnancy but if you put 3 back you have a 50-60% chance of a pregnancy. Of course your chance of having twins goes up too with that jump. But their statistics said that the chance of twins only goes up 5%. To me I feel like it's worth the risk of twins to increase my chance of pregnancy by 20%. But I don't know what the Dr's will say about that for me. I'm just hoping they let me make the decision and don't try to force it on me.

But at the same time, if you only had one frozen one that probably lowers the odds that a frozen cycle would be successful if you had to do that.

It's a tough decision. Keep us posted on what you decide. I'm just going crazy today waiting to hear about the fertilization! I hope they call soon!

Hi girls -

Light - Did you say that you had your transfer today? How'd it go?

Hoping - Did you get your fertilization report?

I had my transfer today, they put back two. I just let them tell me how many to put back. I'm too nutty right now to be objective! I figure that since I'm relatively young and this is my first try, two should be good. One of them was already compacting the other was somewhere between 6 and 8 cell. Both have low fragmentation. They froze two and will let the others incubate over the weekend to see if any others will develop enought to be frozen

My husband and I just stared at the photos of our embryos after transfer in the recovery room. We are soooo excited and hopeful.

Good for you Andrea! I hope this is it for you!

I had my ET today too. The PGD doc is just awesome. We chose to put in two as any time the doc has put in 3 PGD embryos, there's been triplets! Yikes! So, we put in two very nice looking embryos that were already compacting as well. More good news was that she called us tonight with news that one of the boy embryos looks like it is normal as well! So I've got 3 to freeze! Yeah!

Keep us posted, Hoping!

Wow, it sounds good for both of you guys! Now for the big wait... yuck!

It turned out that I had 16 eggs not 15, but of those only 6 fertilized. They had split the 16 into two groups and half did ICSI and the others were just put with the sperm. But only three of the 8 ICSI eggs were mature enough to actually do ICSI on, and of those three only two fertilized. Of the 8 that were just put with sperm 4 fertilized, so that's where my 6 come from. They only did ICSI because they didn't have any history on how our eggs/sperm do together. They said if we do this again we won't need the ICSI.

They said most of my eggs were just to immature to fertilize. They said they would have liked to have had more fertilize, but there isn't anything that can be done about it now. I'm doing my transfer tomorrow. And I won't find out any more about the embryos until then. I have no idea how the quality will be but I'm really hoping that it will turn out good for most of them. I don't know if only having 6 fertilize lowers my odds of getting high quality embryos or not. But I can hardly wait until tomorrow to find out how the little guys are doing. I think I'm going to have a very hard time sleeping tonight.

How much activity did they tell you guys you could do after the transfer? They told me that they pretty much want me to totally take it easy, just like they had me do when my ovaries were so full of eggs. No exercise, no sex, not even things like mowing the lawn. Or anything that might cause uterine contractions. Did you guys get advice like that?

Hoping, it only takes one! The more time they get to mature, the more you know about quality. I'm sure you'll have a lot more info before your transfer.

As for after the transfer, my doc says 3 days of bedrest.

I also have a nice diversion for my two week wait, we have my sisters kids with us for the next two weeks. They are two girls and one boy ages 9,11 and 13. They are great kids too. Should be fun!

Hi girls!

Hoping - That's great that you don't need ICSI, I would think that means that there is a better chance that you may conceive naturally in the future. My husband has antisperm antibodies, so I don't think we'll ever conceive naturally. Anyway, six is still a great number, don't stress too much (I know, easier said than done). Remember, you will have the two week wait to stress over and then hopefully another 9 months of stress to look forward to.

The good news is you were able to get through all this without severe OHSS.

About after transfer instructions, my doctor told me to stay home and relax the rest of the day (I went to my acupuncture appointment) and then take it easy the rest of the weekend (no exercise, no housework). He also told me that it really doesn't matter either way, but why not just take it easy? He didn't mention anything about no sex or uterine contractions, but that makes sense.

Light - Everything sounds really promising for you. Really promising. Have fun with your nieces and nephews.

Hoping, keep us updated!

Hey guys, well I'm down to the wait time now. I had my transfer this morning. I transfered 3 one of them was a grade A (A is the best) with 6 cells and the other two were B's with 8 and 6 cells. I didn't have any with more cells than 8 so I don't know if I can freeze any yet because they said they have to get to the blastocyte stage in order to be frozen. I'm hopeful that even though none of the ones I transfered have a lot of cells they are healthy enough that they are going to thrive now that they are were they are supposed to be. :)

I can't cross my fingers enough for this!
