Donor Egg Cycle in September/October too!

Post by rhall00 »

Hey Cathy,

Looks like we're on the same schedule and protocol! It makes me happy to know I'm not alone. Best of luck with your donor! We're using a proven donor and we're really hopeful, partially because this is our one and only time due to cost. Even with insurance, we're still paying quite a bit. Keep in touch!

hi Rebecca!
That is great that we can be cycle buddies together!! Its so much easier going thru it with someone and to help pass by the time as well. Lots of luck with your donor too!! I'm sure a proven donor gives you some reassurance. Ours is not proven but we liked her so much it didn't matter plus we had to factor in the higher cost of a proven as well. I'm not sure if we would cycle again with another donor, we have discussed it and we may a second time if we have too. Or we may go back to trying on our own naturally, its just so hard and scary now with all the m/c's that I've had already. I fear those #'s would just keep going up.

I am also relying on a good amount of embies to freeze (praying). Are you doing a full cycle with your donor or a split (sharing with another couple)? How did you get matched?
We found ours thru a donor agency. We have no insurance coverage for any of this cycle. Well, my meds and any of my testing should be covered but everything else is out-of-pocket, so the expense is super-high so I guess you can say, "all our eggs are in one-basket". But that's okay, the odds are in our favor.

There's another forum where I've started a Donor Thread - its called IVF using Donor Eggs on the www.twoweekwait.com website or you can find me here -

There aren't many there so if you feel up to joining us, that'd be great!! If not, we can continue to chat here!

I am nervous, not so much about the procedure but as to whether it will work. We have alot riding on this cycle and it is costing us alot of money out of pocket since we do not have insurance coverage and are using DE.

So far....I've had 3 early m/c's and a chemical pg all conceived naturally. All m/c's occurred before 8 weeks and never saw a heartbeat on any of them. Then we decided to do IVF w/PGD after our fertility workup to weed out all the normal embryos from the chromosomally abnormals ones. Well, we wound up cancelling PGD on Day 2 because we only had 4 embies that were 2 cell stage on Day 2. 9 eggs retrieved, 7 fertilized, 3 had 3 pronuclei (abnormal) and 4 appeared normal. We did a 3 day transfer and transferred 1-7 cell Grade B and 1-5 Cell grade A (excellent) which ended in a BFN.

So we chose to do DE from this point on due to recurrent miscarriages and more than likely, poor quality eggs. I am 36 and will be 37 in a few weeks. DH is 34.

Is this your first IVF cycle? I'd be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Good luck to everyone!
Cathy
We are doing PGD as well. I have a chromosome translocation that effects my eggs. I'm really scared of not having any normal embryos to transfer. Need to stay optimistic though I guess:)

My clinic called and said that my insurance company will not cover me now:( They said that since I've conceived that I don't fit the infertility guidlines. I'm so mad right now! We will only do this once and I'm wondering if I should use donor eggs instead? IDK!!!! :/
