HPT Positive - is it the Ovidrel?

Post by casper »

I am in panic mode... I woke up this morning and decided to do a HPT. Wish I hadn't now!

My FET was just done on Thurs., 7/5. The results are positive and it is driving me mad. Does anyone know if this could really be true? I did my Ovidrel shot on Saturday, 6/30. Could I actually be pregnant? Or is it the hcg still in my system from that shot?

I want to believe it, but I'm so afraid I'll get my hopes up only to be disappointed. My preg. test is scheduled for Saturday morning.

Help! What should I be thinking at this point? It's the ovidrel shot or YAHOO - I'm pregnant?!

In your other post you said you were only on progesterone. This post mentions Ovidrel. This complicates things a bit.

You should still have a tiny residue of the Ovidrel at this point. I would not think the HPT would pick this up, but maybe?

Here are some solutions to the dilemma.

1. You can wait for the blood test on Saturday.

2. You can try another HPT in 2 days and see if the response is getting stronger (pregnant) or weaker (declining hCG residue from the Ovidrel, not pregnant). Even if it just stays about the same, you're probably pregnant.

I did check the Ovidrel package insert (once I finally found it) and it does say that the med. can stay in my system for up to 10 days. Last night at 11:00 would have concluded the 10 days. The pregnancy test I used is one of the ones that picks up even the slightest hint of pregnancy (25 iu), so at this point, I am assuming it is the Ovidrel.

Don't you think it would be too soon for the HPT to be positive even if I am pregnant?

Can you tell I'm driving myself nuts now? :-)

What embryo stage did they transfer? Day 2? Day 3? Blastocysts?

I know a lady that got a positive HPT 6 days post 5 day transfer! and that was just a few months ago.. But she took HPT's to watch the trigger leave her system. So she knew that it was gone. And, she was pregnant with twins so her levels were higher I guess ?
I'd be pretty optimistic about your positive!! :) hoping for you!

Ans. to Ghost

Post by casper »

I'm not sure. I know that one was about to "crack out of the shell" if that makes sense. Other than that, I don't know. When they were frozen, they were 4 days from creation... does that help? Sorry I am so ignorant to this stuff! By the way, we transferred two embryos. Would that make my levels high enough to detect today?

Thanks for your help!

This suggests you had a blastocyst transfer. Blastocyst transfer can produce detectable hCG this early. And if it's a twin implantation, that would increase it further. So probably it's a pregnany. If you take another test, see if it's getting stronger.

Best of luck.

Another Positive

Post by casper »

Hi Ghost! I did another test this morning. I'm using the digital tests... another positive! I'm trying so hard not to get excited, but I really am ready for a positive outcome! Should I slow my excitement down, or do you think it is true?

Thanks for your advice!
