Congratulations on your BFP!

I think that the vast majority of ladies are told to stay on progesterone until at least 10 weeks into the pregnancy.

I think in a fresh cycle your follicles produce progeseterone but that the prog is sucked out during the harvest so usually needs replacing.

The placenta produces progesterone and is usually mature enough to do that at around 10 to 12 weeks.

I would definately double check why they have told you to stop after the 2ww.

Good luck, Fee

Hi Lorissa

I stopped the progesterone at the end of the 2ww as well and I am now 37weeks pregnant.

I had had a BFP before on a frozen cycle that ended in m/c and in that case I had been advised to keep pn the progesterone for longer.

When I queried this time they said that you just don't need it if its a full ivf cycle.

Best of luck

lorissa,
Just think, the RE does not want anything happen to your baby either. It is very important for them to have good pregnancies and live births from a business standpoint. So, they will not give you bad advise. You just have to trust them sometimes. (This is what I told myself when I had to stop progesterone).
Congratulations and good luck!

Thankyou so very much for your response,I really appreciate it and now feel alot better.Without u guys i really would feel lost.
Congrats to you all,i am thrilled for you.
How exciting,i am still in shock and hasnt sunk in as i got pregnant in last ivf attempt 2 yrs ago and had a miscarriage at 3 mths with progesterone and no heartbeat. That is the reason for my concern and really hope all the best for us all & for a safe ,healthy, and happy pregnancy.
Best wishes and love XOXO

Congratulations! Please do check around, though, with other doctors. Maybe frozen cycles are different. This one was frozen, right? Most fresh seem to stay on for up to 3 months. I was scared to stop even then. I think there is not much harm in continuing to take it so why not press a little further.

I too was just told at 13 weeks to stop progesterone/estrogen pills after IVF. I am scared, but did it, and now paranoid until next U/S to make sure babies are OK. I think the fact that we have to do something like IVF (and if you experienced loss before) makes us more prone to worry about this stuff. I feel for ya!
