Gonal f and ivf.

Hi there

I am very new to this and wondered if anyone could give me some idea about what is going to happen.

I will start Gonal F 75 on day 3 of my next cycle, inject for 10 - 14 days and then "will be told what happens next!!"

I notice other ladies are on alot higher dose and wonder if 75 is enough Confused

Anyway thanks in advance for any input.

Hi Sarah, I am very surprised that ur RE starting ur GONAL F at 75 ....what I did understand is until 10-14 days while u r on they wont do a ultrasound ??? that doesnt seem right to me...

I started on 300u of Gonal for the first 4 days then did u/s & BW since I had more follicles they cut the medications to half 150u for 2 days again u/s & bw again 112 & 75 respectively for the next two days...
Usually they start higher doses & taper off at the end depending on the no of follicles...

Do u mind me asking how old r u & what were ur infertility issiues..?

Did u ask ur RE why they r starting u off on such low dose of 75u ???

I took Gonal-F 300 U for 4 days.. then it decreased to 225 units for a day.. then I was added repronex. So i took repronex and Gonal-F. My RE said they start everyone out on that dose of 300.. then they decrease it based on how u are responding.. and i responded very well.. I only stimmed for 8 days..


I started my stims on day 4 of my cycle. Maybe your RE is planning on adding different medication. I know all RE's have different instructions!!

My baby - I am 27 years old. My FSH was 2.98.

I had both tubes removes 2 weeks ago due to one being blocked and hydrosalpinx on the left. Also had ovary drilling because I have polysistic ovaries but not pcos.

Sounds like a mild stimulation protocol, as has become trendy in Europe. The idea is minimal stimulation in order to get just a few eggs of high quality, and not disturb the endometrium too much.

You're probably starting a GnRH antagonist (ganirelix, cetrotide, etc.) in a few days?

I have not heard of the meds u mentioned but am starting on something (cant read the prescription!!!!!) tomorrow for 21 days??? Why would that be?

Hi just joined site from uk, i to got started on gonal-f at 75 but i reacted to well and had to abandon the treatment, after six weeks I got put on 37.5 for weeks with no results, they then upped it 75 for three days and then back down to 37.5 again nothing happened, I did have a natural period which was great as I have PCOS, but again treatment was abandoned, I was then put on 37.5 for a few days and was getting scanned every 2-3 days to make sure I was not OHSS, to date i have been put back on 75 for almost three weeks and it is starting to work very slowly, i am due my scan on Thursday and fingers crossed this should be me on the road to getting pregant.

I was shocked when it was mentioned that some people started on 300, that seems really high

The last ivf cycle I did I started at 300 of follistim. I must have started out slow because they doubled it to 600, then 600 in the am & 600 in the pm. The MD office warned me they were going to have to cancel the cycle most likely, then the next day on my u/s I had tons of follicles. For the rest of the cycle they kept decreasing the follistim and finally I had to do ganirelix injections for the last 4 days. I thought my ovaries were going to burst!
