insurance

Post by amybbc »

Hi to everyone I just wanted to tell a little story of hope. I posted a subject about cost sharing a week ago my husband and I where not sure what to do because we have no insurance coverage. I haven't been able to sleep thinking about how much it will cost us to take out a loan. I truly didn't know what I wanted to do, I was hoping for a sign of some sort so that I would know what desicion was best for us. So I get a call yesterday from our Human Resource department here at my work I work for a bank here in pa in the united states, six or seven months ago I went on to www.resolve.org and used the sample letter to send to your employer about offering infertility coverage, never thought that it would really work and since it was so long ago I had figured that it ended up in the garbage somewhere. The person that i talked to was calling to let me know that the company I work for is going to cover infertiltiy treatment including Ivf starting next year, I thought that I was going to cry as he was telling me this. So any one out there that has not requested there employer to cover infertility go to www.resolve.org and use the sample letter you never know it may work. I am still in shock.
Thanks
Amy

Amy - That is wonderful news. I am so happy for you! I have been fortunate that mine covers 4 IUI's and 3 IVF's. My perscription coverage ran out during my 2nd IVF and that is even soooo expensive. But everything that they cover is so much more. So Congrats & i'll be rooting for you!

Wow Amy good for you. You should be so proud of yourself--not only will this coverage help you but it will also help other couples that work with you. That is just awesome. I sure wish we would of had some kind of ins coverage to help us withe IVF--we 2nd morg our house. We were successful our first round and have a beatiful son thanks to IVF--but we joke that it will take us 7 years to pay for him. : ) Worth every penny though. GOod luck next year with your IVF cycle. Bridget

Amy,

Thank you for sharing. I am very happy for you. Having gone through IVF once, I know how expensive it could be.

Just wondering, do I need to be a resolve member to get the sample letter? I couldn't find it on their site. I am not a resolve member right now.

Wishing you success on your first try!

No I don't think you have to be member to get the sample letter. I also pasted it onto Microsoft Word and added a few things in the begining and end about our situation with out going into too much detail. At the end I said something like without the coverage of IVF due to our diagnosis my husband and I may never be able to get the chance to have a child together. I think I may have added something else about how they say many companies don't cover infertility because they think that having children is a lifestyle choice, but it was never our choice to be dealing with infertility. If you have any trouble finding the sight let me know. Good Luck.

Sorry I misread your post go to www.resolve.org and on the left side there is a list of things to click on go to the take action the third one down below home on the left hand side and then click on coverage at work it is like in the third paragraph and is says sample letter. I just went there so I am 100% positive you don't have to be a member.

Thanks, Amy! I will take a look at it. My insurance doesn't cover infertility, so it might be worth a try.
