Frustrating PG symptoms - what's causing it?

(Wife PCOS, Husband Male factor but 'gotten better'; 4 ivf/ icsi cycles, 2 success, 4 kids):

About four/five times in six years of marriage, wife has had all the classical PG symptoms, but nothing comes of it. Sometimes, for weeks at a time, she walks around nauseous, etc. She goes to doc - doc gives PG test - results negative - sends wife home without diagnosis or treatment - we're quite frustrated. Wife is right now on day 45 of her cycle (long for her but not unprecedented) - and 30 days since she felt ovulation.

Can anyone out there give some suggestions as to what's going on?

35, and no, don't think so. symptoms are IDENTICAL to PG.

The reason I asked is that I had a friend go through menopause early--she was 40 and her symptoms were just like pg too. I lost track of the number of hpts she took before her doctor confirmed that it was just menopause. She had suffered from fertility problems, too although I'm not sure what her primary diagnosis was.

Anyway, it was just a thought. What a frustrating thing to be going through!

Thanks for the good thoughts. She's had this happen several times over several years, so it doesn't likely that menopause is to blame.

I know you doubt that menopause is to blame but I just read that your body starts to prepare for menopause years and years in advance. Also, symptoms of menopause are very similar to pregnancy ones. Though it is very rare, it's not unheard of that women in have began menopause in their 30's. It could be worth asking your RE about. If not that, follow your instincts and if you really think that something is wrong, don't let up until someone is willing to help you find more answers.

No, her period came at day 45 LMP (and 30 days post-ovulation). Symptoms ceased soon thereafter.

What I'd *like* to hear is that it was a chemical pregnancy (and that we can do X, Y and Z next time to make sure it sticks), but it's hard getting answers out of the RE, for various reasons.

Have you tried getting a second opinion or asked your RE if that could be what is happening? It sounds very confusing. The human body is a mystery for sure. I'd keep poking around until someone seems more set on helping you solve the problem. Good luck to you and DW!

Sooner or later. We're not really pushing for having kids right now, so it's kinda back burner. We'll catch up with it soon, I suspect.
