Lisa: OMG 2:30 AM??? EEEKK But if I could just freaking ovulate I'd get up that early myself and do whatever it took to get that BFP!

Tracey! I hope your 2 days goes much faster then it has! I know 1st Response makes a PT that you can test up to 5 days early. Of course there are always inaccurate results, the only REAL test is that blood work :? I am really thinking of you for the next couple of days! You have been a great help for me here

me: I just try to perfect peeing on a stick! Apparently I suck at it :D

Just started 1st ICSI Cycle 11th July

Post by Chelle »

:D HI all. I'm really glad to have found this discussion forum and hope to get to know you all.

I am 33 and live in Scotland. Me and my husband have just started the 1st stage of ICSI treatment - down regulation with Synarel nasal spray. Our 1st scan is on 6th August to see if we can start stimulation drugs.

Hopefully this makes me eligible to join the July / August cycle buddies thread. I'm desperate to communicate with people going through the same experience. We have been so stressed waiting to start treatment, now every stage is a waiting game it's torture. I think talking to others in the same position will help alot.

All I've ever wanted was to settle down with Mr RIGHT and have kids but I've waiting until the timing was perfect. Now the timing is so perfect as I am lucky enough to have met my soulmate and we are so ready for a family so I'm really hopeful that the treatment will work. Wish me luck :?

WELCOME CHELLE! :D nice to have you with us.......i think you'll find this one of the most therapeutic things you can do while you go thru your process!!! BEST group of gals - EVER!!! and more support than i ever dreamed of!

personally - i have just started my stimms (today in fact!!)....next week will go to doc every/other day (atleast) for us & bw and with any luck at all - by next saturday, will be doing trigger shot!! (which means - for me anyway - that 36 hours later will be my ER).....

i think you'll find it quite comfortable in this thread as we have gals at EVERY phase of their ivf cycle!!!

a piece of advice ---- DON'T BE SHY!!!!! ask all the questions that may cross your mind cuz SOMEBODY out there will either have a similar experience to share or be able to point in you the right direction!

  GOOD LUCK & MAY ALL THE STICKY BABY DUST IN THE WORLD BE WITH YOU THRU YOUR JOURNEY

Hi everyone - thanks for support messages - the more I read about your journeys the more scarey it seems - just 2 weeks now till I start first injections - i hate needles! DH is looking forward to helping with that wonderful daily job!

All the luck in the world to you all on your various parts of the journey - I am going to have to write a list of names and where everyone is in the treatment cycle - and what all these different abbreviations stand for!

Thinking of you all x

Hi Wishful27

These abbreviations are doing my head in already :x , I'm hoping they will become like a second language after a few weeks. I type at speed so I prefer to write in full you won't get abbreviations from me.

Looks like our cycles could be roughly the same. We have our first baseline scan to check I am down regulated on 6th July so I reckon I will be starting injections in roughly two weeks all being well.

Can't say I'm looking forward to the jabs even though unlike you I don't have a fear of them, but I think I will ask my husband to do them anyway because I know it won't be pleasant. Still I will just be glad to have made it over the 1st hurdle, it will be another step forwrd.

Good luck with everything and keep in touch.

Good luck tomorrow LisaPa, throwing lots of baby dust your way. Let us know how everything goes.

Tracey, are you hanging in there? Just a couple of more days to go. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Chelle, Welcome and this is one of the most therapeutic things I have found to help me during this whole process. These girls are great and so supportive. Sometimes you just need to talk with someone who knows how you feel and has been through the same obstacles in life. This is also my first IVF/ICSI cycle. I'm on the dreaded 2ww. I test Aug.3rd. Good luck and lots of baby dust to you.

Hi Bernie

Good to hear from you. I am feeling fine thanks, no terrible side effects other than a couple of headaches the past three days, but I'm not sure if they are connected or not. My baseline scan is due on the 6th August (the day before yours). Usually the nasal spray is taken for about two weeks (as in your case), but they have dragged things out even more by making me take it for 3 weeks. I'm looking forward to the scan though as it will feel like we have finally got the show on the road, and each stage is another hurdle. My husband has not had sperm retrieval, that won't happen until the day of my egg retrieval. Is there a reason why they have taken your husband's so early?

Don't know about you, but I have found this whole waiting to get started more stressful than anything. The bombshell was dropped by our doctor last November after a couple of tests and we were left in limbo with no counselling or anyone to talk to for six months. Then we found out that our local fertility clinic (6 miles away) would be closing for renovations over the spring which would delay us from even getting an appointment. As for treatment on the NHS what a joke, a three year waiting list. We are now being treated privately by a clinic a 2 hour drive away (75 miles) which make things even more stressful trying to get time away from work etc.

It’s nice to have someone at the same stage, having the same treatment for the first time, I hope we both have nice happy endings and we can share them together. If not, we can support each other, and the rest of the ladies on this site.

I have sent this to you privately, but I will also post on the discussion forum. I’m new to this type of forum so I was not sure how to address a particular person directly, that’s why I sent a private message.

Hope you have a lovely weekend with better weather than we are having in Scotland. Please can you send us some sunshine.

Love Chelle xxx

ICSI GIRL

I am starting to believe your comment about the lingo thing. My husband is asking if I am his DW? It made me laugh xxx

Love to all of you, have a good weekend.

TWC

Two week wait eh, that's a nice stage to be at but very stressful I imagine, I will be thinking of you.

All the girls are talking about having blood work done to definitely confirm a positive result as home kits can be inaccurate. I have a feeling I may have more than a two week wait to have blood tests done, as according to the notes from my clinic (which is a two hour drive away), once you have taken a home test they schedule a scan two - three weeks later. That will be a nightmare wait. Do you know what the normal procedure is. Do all clinics ask you to do a home test first, then a blood test at the clinic and a scan. Any of your girls know?

Chelle: for what its worth - my clinic is about 1.5 hours from my house as well :? in the end ---- when we're all getting our BFP's (BIG FAT POSITIVE's) ----- it will have been worth EVERY drive back/forth!

i'm in the states -- not sure if things are done different over there --- but my schedule goes something like this: now that i've started stimming, i will go to clinic for every/other day ultrasound (us) & bloodwork (bw)..... once follies are good-to-go, they go in for ER....3, 4 or 5 days later (depending on size, quality, etc) they put them back in.....exactly TWO weeks from the day they put them back in (ET) --- they will do a blood test to see if BFP or BFN.........MY clinic says NOT to test at home (HPT's), that some of the meds could give false read on HPT.......although - from what i've read out here --- a lot of girls DO test at home....is hard not to.....but i'm going to REALLY try very hard to stay away from them as i've also read a ton of not-so-good stories out here.....they are EVIL if you ask me!!!! but i'm not even at the 2WW point yet......so maybe i'll feel differently then!! ha, ha

I'm from the states also and that's basically the same protocol my RE uses. Blood test 2 weeks from ER. It's good to know the numbers from the blood level to see if chemical pregnancy or not. We usually will have another level drawn 48 hrs. later to see if numbers doubled. If so, usually a sign of a good pregnancy.
