March 08 Babies !!!

Hey everyone- first off thanks for all your well wishes, crossings, and prayers. WE SAW A HEARTBEAT!!! I am six weeks today and it was fluttering away at 96 bpm. I am finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, although it will probably last about five minutes. My doctor said that given my age, my chances of miscarriage are still at 20%. I go back Monday, Aug. 5th for another u/s. She said that if everything looks good then, my chances drop below 10%- sooooo- next hurdle!! But, for today, I am not even going to attempt to wipe the permanent smile that is plastered across my face!!!

Laurie,

Congrats on the twins! I am sure you are now reassured that all is ok.

As for me, my first scan is this Friday and I'm looking forward to some confirmation. No major pregnancy symptoms except sometimes dizzy and nausiated, swollen chest and the usual mood swings.

Jen- Huge congrats!!! I've never heard of the age condition your RE placed on your mc risk. You're both going to do great

Laurie - Wow! Another twin March mommy. Huge congrats!

Sher - Good luck Friday!!

Dixiegal - How are your twins treatment you? Mine have me knocked over needing 24 h of sleep and eating CONSTANTLY!

Michelle - When's your next scan??

Brandi - Shame on your RE. Thank goodness you get to switch to your OB-gyn soon. There's no excuse for that tx. I'm so sorry.

I'm muddling through the day comatose and my belly feels much to big for 8 weeks! Anyone else constantly starving??

Sher- How far along are you? It was enormous relief to see the heartbeat. I'm sure you'll feel better then, too. Sounds like you DO have some symptoms!! Hope they continue!!!

Hi Daly, my next scan is August 7th. I can't wait! When is your next scan? This whole process is so exciting! When can they tell the sex of the baby by ultrasound? Is that usually around 20 weeks?

daly- I assume that because my eggs are older, there is a better chance that the embryo could have a chromosomal abnormality, which would make it more likely that I would have a miscarriage. I just have all my bits crossed that the embryo is healthy and normal!!! If it continues to develop and we see good growth on the 6th, we'll be in pretty good shape.

Im spotting has slowed up a little now, still very nervous cos didnt get to see the heartbeat, yet i was over 6wks!!

okay you guys... I had a little scare and now am on bedrest for several days. This morning at 420 i woke up to a warm gush. yep i was bleeding. it was red and very liquid. not dark... not clotting. (sprry if tmi) mild cramps. DH called doc and they said if no severe cramps to meet them at 800 at the office. so I sat there crying wondering if i was losing my babies the next four hours. Anyway after the inital rush of fluid... only a little spotting and had pretty much stopped by 8.00 . Babies were seen on ultrasound with heartbeats and have continued to grow since last friday. they saw a blod clot in the right side of my uterus ( babies in the left side). They reassured me that it was fine and just one of those things. I of course am still freaking out because i still am is cramping this afternoon . Has anyone ever experienced this?

Dixie- I'm so sorry that happened to you. I'm sure you were scared to death!! Did the doctors say it was the clot bleeding? If that's the case, I would TRY- I know it's so hard- but try to not worry too much. I have been spotting for two weeks and when I had my u/s they saw a small pool of blood, which they said accounted for my spotting. That really made me feel better to know where it was coming from, and that it is innocuous, so if you think it's from that pool, I would feel okay. When do you go back for another u/s?
Laurie-My doctor really wasn't expecting to see the heartbeat. She said it was a little early- mine just started beating one or two days early- not indicative of anything!! So, you were just 6 weeks 1 day- it's probably too early, but you'll see them next time. Your ticker has you one day ahead of what you really are.

Michelle - My next US is Monday! Seems like forever since we saw the babies. Looks like we're just over a week apart. I just did a job interview today and they had the nerve to ask me if I am pregnant! I guess they know my dd died and figured I'd be tryng again. But, that is sooooo illegal. Oh, well. The babies are much more important.

Jen - That makes sense. Due to my age and mc hx, I think we're going to do cvs. WE go to a genetic counselor next week to make sure the risk is minimal. Apparently we have the top guy here in Beverly Hills, o/w I'm not sure I could risk it. The triple screen isn't worthwhile with twins. So, we're left with cvs/amnio or just US screening. Are you doing any testing?

Laurie - My RE said the same as Jens. We weren't supposed to "expect" to see hb at 6 wk. Try not to worry. You had precious 2 sacs and that's great. Did they point out the yoke sac? That is also an excellent indicator of a healthy baby before you can see the hb.

Dixie - Oh, you poor dear. What a huge scare! I'm so glad the babies and you are safe. I was on bedrest my whole 1st tri last pregnancy and it wasnt' fun

I hope dh is pampering you and youve got some good movies. When do you see the RE again?

Well, I'm barely awake at the late hour of 3 pm. Honestly, the babies are only 1 inch and I feel like I'm lugging around 5oo pounds (I know I'm eating enough to feed 500 pounds) I am just so tired. I'm wondering if it is because my last pregnancy was recent. Maybe I'm just lazy

jenden, last week on ultrasound she noticed that there was a some blood... she thought it wsa maybe old and would be reabsosrbed. apparently its a some type of clot and the blood vessels have broken. Anyway so the bed rest is to let it heal and not to jostle. lol heck i havent beeen doing much anyway. i was sleeping when i started bleeding!
They said it wan't uncommon and said that they babies were great but i'm afraid to move. i don't go back till next friday. its gonna be a long week.
daly, i cant believe they asked if you were pregnant! i think your right... i'm sure thats illegal!
lauren, i couldnt see my heartbeats until right at 7wks. I think it is just timing. like of a day. LOL. i think i went in at 6wk2 days and couldnt see it, then at 6 week 6 days there they were. daly's right if they saw sac and yolk sac yoour doing great!

Hi All

Ladies, Thankyou all for your kind words reg not seeing my babies hb yet,
To be honest because i went to the emergency room and not my clinic(closed) they didnt point anaything out, except the 2 sacs and said that everything looked fine so far.
Im sure im worringing over nothing and next wed i will go and see the hb im sure

Dixi...so sorry bout the crap u have been through, i know u will be fine, but its sooo scarey i know.
Thanks for your message on the hb thing, maybe its a twin thing why they caqnt see the hb so early.

Hows all the other mommies doing today?

Easier said than done, but just hang in there. The heartrate just begins around six weeks and there are no guarantees of seeing it at that time. If the doc says things look good, then go with the good news. Try not to worry yourself or stress yourself out. I think symptoms are more extreme when you have twins. When is your next ultrasound? This will put you at ease.

All,
Had my first u/s today and baby measures 6mm and heartrate is 119. Everything looks good so far and there is only ONE. The last few days I had a strong feeling it was twins, but I was wrong. I am glad everything is looking good and our baby is settling in his/her home nicely. We told our 18 mo old today and she saw the photo of the ultrasound. I cannot wait for her to meet her brother or sister. I'm just too excited for words!

We are all just so lucky.

How's everyone doing? I am happy to say that my spotting has finally stopped- I HOPE for good. I haven't spotted since Wednesday morning when I went for my u/s. I hope it doesn't come back!! Laurie and Dixie- how are y'all? (I know- very southern) Are you still spotting? I hope you're both relaxing and trying not to worry so much.

Well...Had my ultrasound today and saw the heartbeat, but didn't get a rate yet...They're not sure if there's a second one there or not. Said they'll have to wait for next week. But one for sure doing great...So relieved...Congratulations to the rest of you who got to see your babes this week. We're telling the in-laws at dinner tonight. They thought they were only going to have their one grandson, so hope they're as excited as we are. My mom is on cloud 9. This will be her seventeeth grandchild, as well as the 9.5 great grandchildren, but you'd think this was her first...Have a great weekend all...
