Don't eat/drink anything after midnight the day before. Wear comfortable clothing to the procedure. You need somebody to drive you home after that. Maybe rest for 1-2 days before going back to work.

Good luck!

Good Luck with the ER. Dress comfortable...I took off 4 days then returned to work. I think taking off more time for the ET is more important. I didnt take enough on the fresh cycle and I took more on the FET and we are 29 weeks pregnant.

Best of Luck. Keep us posted. I hope they retrieve lots....

i was told to take antibiotics before and after my ER. wear comfortable clothes, relax. my clinic says you can go back to work the next day, given that you feel well enough to do so. i went back, just had a little bit of cramps. you can put a heat pad to ease the pain. good luck on your ER, hope you get lots and a great fertilization report!

I had my ER yesterday.i wore comfy pants I would advise you do the same. Also slip on shoes if you can its just easier to slip them on iinstead of bending to tie them. I am feeling ok just tired and cramping I spoke with my RE this am and she advised me to stay in bed and take it easy for the day .....so I would take time off work..Also another after effect from all the stimms is bloating i look 5 months preg right now...but that can be just me as my left overy was hard to manipulate as per my RE. Either way if you are all bloated people at your work will ask questions that you might not want to ans. Good luck with everything.....

Lots of baby dust your way..................

Hi All,

I have my ER on July 18th. Cofy clothes was a most and slip on shoes/sandals were a good idea. I didn't do to well with the anesthia, but that's besides the point. That day after going home I jus slept it off. Didn't feel to bad that night. The next day I went back to work. I was bloated and had lots of cramping. Other than that not to bad. Those feelings only lasted about two days or so. We will go for out first blood HCG this coming friday 8-3-07. Wish everyone the best of luck. Keep your spirits high and think positive. Lots of love.

It was painful for me to move for 2 days and I felt much better lying down. I would take off day of retrieval plus 1 - 2 days following if you are able.

wear comfy clothes. Was told not to wear jewelery. Also, if you wear nail polish, take it off at least one finger. No food or drink allowed after midnight. My clinic usually scheduled these for 1st thing in the morning. I am not working while doing this, but I was told I could go back to work the day after. Someone is supposed to stay w/ you for the whole day, but my husband went to work after he dropped me at home. Can't drive that day (more b/c of the anesthia), so make sure you have stuff in to eat/drink. They tell you not to cook either (I think b/c of the anes.) I didn't really have any cramps or bloating, but basically stayed on the couch and watched tv and slept. Just take it easy. I had my transfer on Day 2.

If you've ever had problems with anesthesia & nausea, let them know before the procedure. I told the MD before hand that I get really bad nausea with anesthesia & they gave me something that made the whole thing a piece of cake.
The only other thing I would add is that you may not want to lie down flat after you get back home. Prop yourself up with some pillows. I had a lot of extra fluid that got released with the ET & sleeping for a few hours flat, the fluid traveled up to what felt like was right under my diaphragm. It made deep breathing painful that 1st night which was really scary. The feeling went away by the next morning then I read somewhere online about sleeping at an angle for the 1st few hours.

I can't offer any advice for you, but I hope the ET goes smoothly tomorrow.
