Kim~
You poor dear! It sounds like you have done EVERYTHING known to man to make it work. Breasfeeding sounds so challenging that it's kind of intimidating to me. The woman asked us our goals for bfeeding and mine was " 18 months would be a dream, 1 year would be fantastic, 9 months great, 6 very acceptable, 3 if it's killing me, and at all if only a day would still be a success." There just isn't a way to predict what it will be like. You have outdone yourself in effort. Good luck with whatever system works for you.
All alone huh? How did it go? Are your babies napping at the same time and such or is it more of a free for all this early?

Next month I take a multiples class that goes for 4 weeks and I can't wait to hear from people what they do to make it through the early weeks. Poor DH has to go to baptism classes as well next month! He's going to kill me when he realizes how much boat time I have stolen!!!!

Family is flying in today for the baby shower so I'm getting so excited. I was feeling guilty for people feeling like they had to buy two gifts and then a high chair and a pack-n-play showed up in the mail! It was so fun to start getting it ready! Now I'm less guilty and loving all the baby things! Can't wait for tomorrow!

Have a great day eveyone! Hugs to all the babies!!!

Hi girls,
Just wanted to check in and see how things were going. Laura, i'm glad to hear you and the boys are doing well. Kristen, have fun at your shower tomorrow !
We had a little bit of a set back here with the triplets. at 21 wks i was diagnosed with a short cervix and i had to have a cerclage done (i went to the hospital and they stitched my cervix closed). I'm on complete bed rest as a result which is very hard to get adjusted to. All of this happened a few days before my baby shower, but the doctor agreed to let me go as long as i went in a wheelchair. Luckily, I was able to go and I was fine. Did i mention yet that we are having 2 boys and a girl?? I was surprised that everyone who gave me clothes gave me an equal amount of stuff for the boys as they did the girl.
It is hard not being able to do stuff - i hand't picked out paint colors or flooring for the nursery yet, i hadn't shopped for some stuff for the babies that i wanted, but in the end if the babies are born healthy this will all be worth it.

Hi Ladies,

Kim~ I give you so much credit for BF'dng for as long as you have. I am not even going to attempt it as I just know that it is something that I would not be able to handle. It was a hard decison to make but I just knew that it had to be this way. Please dont be sad, and remember you have done an amazing job so far!!!

Kimberly~ Have a wonderful baby shower! I can not wait to have mine. I am having it in August so I should be huge, uncomfortable and hot by then but still it will be fun to start setting everything up for the babies.

As for me, just hanging in. I am really starting to feel uncomfortable and tired again all the time. The boys are doing great. I went for my US appointment with the fetal monitering specialist and baby A weighs 2 pds 3oz and is in a great position and baby B weighs 2 pds 1oz but he is breech. They seem to be growing well and they seem quite healthy. I am really getting excited and kind of nervous as they could be here soon. My life is going to change so dramatically and that is wonderful and scary at the same time.

Well I have to get back to work. Check in later!

~Erin

Janine~
Nice to see you are doing so well. Bed rest is probably a form of torture but at least it's not forever. I can't remember, sorry it's pregnancy brain, but when are you due? Two boys and a girl! :D How sweet for you and dh. That's the same combo my friend has. How was your shower? Do you feel like you have almost everything you need? One thing I think is certain is that we are never prepared. . . no matter what we did in advance! Good luck to you and I hope they can stay in as long as possible. Keep us posted!

Erin~
So nice to see you one here! We are only a week apart so I know just how you are feeling at this very moment! Sounds like your boys are doing great and they're a great size already. Hopefullly the littel breech fella will turn himself around. I have one sitting perfectly and the other is totally sideways now. I can never tell who is kicking where! Hope everything continues to go well. Can't wait until we are counting down the days until we see our little ones!

Have you all been effected by the housing market yet? We are really starting to sweat about the slow down over here. Our market went from CRAZY to nothing over night. Since all three of our businesses are construction based we are hoping to be able to hold on for this bumpy ride. It'll weed out the bad but hopefully it won't weed us all out! I keep kicking myself that we didn't do IVF earlier. It would have been no problem to stay home as long as I wanted and now I wonder how long we'll be able to not have me working. Keep your fingers crossed and good luck to anyone going thru it.

Take care everyone~

Janine- I am sorry to hear about the cerclage/bedrest. I am a high risk OB nurse, so I took care of a lot of pts with cerclages. You are lucky they caught it earlier so there was still time to fix it. Some poor women have multiple m/c before they discover the problem. I know how hard bedrest is, especially so early in your pregnancy, but will be so worth it when you babies are here.

Kimberly- Have a wonderful baby shower! It really is lots of fun!

Kim- How did you first day alone go? Remember you can only do your best and if one baby is crying while you tend to the other one, that's okay. Try to get out of the house when you can. I take the boys to the mall or even just Target when I need a break. You will get so much attention that it really makes you feel good. Even though it's a lot of work to take two infants out, it's worth it for the mental boost.

The boys are starting to sleep longer at night. They go 5 sometimes 6 hrs between feedings at night. It is wonderful!!! I have hope that someday they will sleep 8 hrs straight thru. They are still colicky at night, but I think that is starting to get better too. I really need to take some new pictures. When they first came home, I had the camera out everyday. But lately I've been so busy I forget too.

:D  :D  Twenty One Weeks and Five days :D  :D

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for all your replies. Had my 21 week scan and feel so much better now. The NHS man I saw was fantasic really pacient and informative. We were in there half and hour and now know that Rabbit sleeps in the same position as me and Stew has a very cute nose!

Not going to see the crappy midwife any more as they are going to scan me every month at the hospital now and each time after I will see the top consultant at my little hospital - can't say fairer than that.

I have put on 7lb so far - but was petiit to begin with. The babies are going well. Stew is 8 days larger than Rabbit but both of them are within the perfect length guide for their age. So I am pleased all those nuts and fruit juice must be doing me good!!!

Strange seeing so much of their spines etc they remined me of that bit in Alien from time to time LOL!

They have both been moving alot and now I can tell from scan which one is awake. My hubby saw my stomach move for the first time yesterday - we were both really excited. Suddenly so real. They don't wake me up at night with their kicking yet - I find it comfooting.

I am really enjoying being pregnant. It is such an amazing human experience - so glad I have been able to have it happen to me.

Kimblerly Cos I am in England I am on the NHS which alecate a provider for you. I could never afford to go private. However apart for the crappy local midwife all the care has been fab and she won't be at the birth or any thing. If she is still crappy after the birth I shall ask to see another member of her team.

I just think concidering she is a midwife and see pregnant mums is her job she doesn't seem to have any empathy for what we go through emotionally.

3D/4D scans here are about £140 -£150 and you get a dvd and some still for that. Think I might go for it even though its an indulgence. Need to decide soon - the best time being about 24 weeks.

I think you so shouldn't care what they think - but you are bound to. We have made a contious decision not to share our real name choices with anyone till after the babies are born - then people won't dare to turn their noses up.

As far as your hubby's name is concerned can it you give them both different versions of it either as a first or as a second name eg

Bobby and Rob or Joshua John and James Juan so neither of then is given special status of the other. Or a male version of your name for one and your hubby's for the other...

Kim Sorry to hear about your nipple trouble - my first boyfriend had the same affect on my nipples! Ha ha I remember it well.

Lisa Wondered if you could descibe the strange weight feeling as I think it happened to me for the first time yesterday. I went to the supermarket - never had a problem before. Had one of those half size trolleys althoguth it was full to bursting and suddenly my tummy went hard and didn't go back to normal till I went home and rested. Very scary! I couldn't walk without it getting tighter. Fortunately I always shop with my hubby and he does all the lifting

However my phsyio has given me a special belt to wear under my bump when I am very active think I will wear it more in future and perhaphs do my big shop on line.

Love to all

Good morning everyone!!!! Hope all the mommies out there are having getting off to a great day!

Just reporting in regarding the Baby Shower. . . . .SO FUN!!!!!!!!!!
I must say, I ADORE my friends and could not believe what lovely cards and items were given to the babies. There is almost nothing left to go get and I am thrilled about that! We received everything from furniture and 3 swings to a toys and a million clothing items! I could not believe how many items these little people are going to need!
It was great to get things like both high chairs and the entertainment centers but there were some really creative gifts also! One friend that we often travel with to the beach gave me this cute beach bag filled with beach items for next year. It had beach clothes, sunscreen, buckets and shovels, sippy cups, sand toys, beach balls, and a few other items. So cute!!! I love people that crafty!

Needless to say, to guilt went away when I saw everyone having a lovely time. My girlfriends gave me the most darling shower and spared no effort on making it perfect for everyone. Don't you just love your girlfriends!!!!!!! It also made it so special to have family here for it as well. The kids will love to hear about how their aunties traveled just to be at their first party!

We followed the weekend up with a long day at the lake with the whole family. It was so much fun to see the kids all try their hand at wakeboarding. I bet there are a few people a little sore today but it was well worth it. :D

Now I'm just trying to organize all these clothes! I can't believe how many items SHE got. My baby girl received about 250+ items of clothes and our baby boy has about 50. No kidding! I am going to have to return quite a few girl items and exchange them for boy ones. Funny how people love buying items for girls!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and I hope to hear some more baby stories soon!
Take care~

Hey Malinka!
What is so funny is that we registered at Babies R' Us but when people bought stuff off the registry, they never handed the registry to the check out person so we received a ton of multiples. I only registered for multiples of a few items. Also, some people bought things that they loved when they had their babies that we weren't registered for which will be fun trying out.
Now I need to update the registry so we don't keep receiving multiples of things when we already have three! :?

Kimberly--That's great that you had such a nice shower! Now the hard part--where to put all that freakin' stuff! :) I have already found that it's harder to find boy clothes than girls...the girl stuff is just adorable, while most boy stuff is fairly generic. I'm trying to hit the sales when I can...my cart always ends up with more stuff for Ellie, so I end up putting some back.

I'm officially weaning these kiddos...and I have to say, my life is improving. While I'm dealing with some discomfort from engorgement, my nips are 100% happy! 8) Of course, DH and I are shocked at how much formula costs, so we're trying to hit up all the docs for freebies! But, feeding time is much more pleasant for all of us, and I can manage to feed two babies at the same time. I just put their bouncy seats on the couch and hold their bottles into their mouths. Ahhhhhh....

HOw's everyone else doing? I haven't heard from some of you in a while. It's amazing how busy are days are, huh?

Hey Kim!
You can almost hear your sigh of relief! It was a very grand effort and I'm sure your nipples will be buy you a gift certificate to a spa for leaving them alone! Are they over their colds yet? It sounds like you are running a happy home right now all around! :D :D :D

Diane? Em? How are you and the babies? Sending love!

We are getting ready to go on our last vacation w/o children tomorrow. Bitter sweet but I am so happy to be this far and be able to say that! An OB apppointment this morning to get the last "go ahead" and a multiples class tonight. WHEW! Busy day for me and the twins are kicking like they want out!

Take care everyone! Have a great day!

Ladies...I came to the one place where I hope I can find the best and most honest advice. Had our second scan and surprise of all surprises, there are TWO!! They are both measuring behind by a week, but the doctor is optimistic that they'll catch up since they both are measuring the same, even though both behind, and had detectable heartbeats. Still wasn't able to get a heartrate recorded, though. I'm almost wondering if their ultrasound machine is behind the times..? I'm so worried now! I also started spotting after the vaginal ultrasound and had been having brown spotting post-coital for a couple of weeks, but this spotting was bright red and was enough to drop on a panty liner. Sorry if TMI...Doctor sent me home from work to be on bed rest over the weekend, but the spotting has already stopped. So, I'm very hopeful it's just cervical irritation from the Crinone and foreign items being introduced vaginally. Is anyone else heard of twins starting out a bit behind in development, but catching up? I'm so worried now. Any supportive words or advice could really help me right now...Thanks ladies. You're my life-line to sanity. Sorry all about me, but so darned worried, I can't even think straight. Thanks for understanding. Take care all...

Charity, congrats!!! awesome news
I believe mine were behind one week as well but then they were fine on a next scan. Please take it easy and stop worrying to much. Stressing over the matter won't help.
