Uterine Biopsy?

Post by lightcomingon »

I had some beautiful embryos (PGD tested and found chromosomally normal) put in in two different occasions and none of them stuck.

My RE wants to do a uterine biopsy and then put in my remaining frozen embryos. He says the healing after the biopsy makes a uterus more 'sticky' for the embryos. Anyone ever heard of this or experienced it?

Hi

Not sure about this uterine biopsy but it does kind of make sense. I know that after a D&C the incidence of pregnancy amongst my docs patients did go up (I had a polyp removed before my IVF and I got a BFP!)

Good Luck!!

I would suggest doing a mock cycle before the FET transfer. I just did one doing Delestrogen shots and PIO then ends in an endo biopsy to test for uterine receptivity.

Just a thought.

Thanks all, especially Jade, for the tips. I know I called it a uterine biopsy, it is indeed an endo biopsy I am having. I will mention the mock cycle to the doc when I talk to him on Wednesday.

Hi,

I actually just had this done last week. I have done 5 fresh IVF cycles with great looking embryos but no luck. My RE said that they did this procedures as part of some research in the clinic - the results of which did show that it helped with frozen cycles but had no effect on fresh cycles... at least in their experience. So, she said it certainly can't hurt the process.
Apparently the biopsy causes enough of an injury to the lining that when the lining repairs itself it provides a better lining for the embryo to stick. I just started my FET on Sunday so I won't know if it works for another month.
My RE said that the biopsy has to be done between days 21 and 24 of your cycle just prior to the FET.
Good luck!

Thanks, Kelly! That is pretty much what my RE said. I hope it works for you. Keep us posted and I'll do the same! :)

Hey guys,
if this works for you then would you please post a new post on general forum that way many people will know about it. I asked my RE after near perfect ivf for my frozen going on this month and he refused.

Good luck...

After 5 IVF cycles, if this one works I'll be screaming it from the treetops! Yes, I will be sure to post it. It is amazing how much is out there - different approaches, different protocols, etc. I guess that is one of the reasons why this forum is so helpful!

Good luck ladies!

I have had 5 failed IVF attempts also, and I am going for bx tomorrow morning. I too have done research, and RE explained basically the same as others, that the bx produces an "injury" so to speak, and that it does sometimes "stick" better to the healed area. Best of luck to all.

Kellym-best of luck with your FET. I will be right behind you. Please post your news!!!
