Hey Tracey - hope you had a lovely holiday, good to have you back though. Hope baby badger is growing well.

Read in the other post that UC is playing you up - can't remember if i told you i had Crohns. i spoke to the consultant and my doc when i got pg and both said that the steroids are fine to use when pg. Even though it's a bit of a worry taking stuff, the stress of the illness probably doesn't do bubs any good. Mine starting playing up a bit, so am taking stuff to try and get sorted again. Hope your gastro man sorts you out,

Pain in the arse, eh!! lol

Lizzy xxx

Sorry for worrying everyone but have had a mare getting in on this pc - thought I would have to re-reg!

Gastro man not a happy bunny - I have had a dreadful flare up and am on steroids for 8 weeks - avoided the bottom probing as didn't want to risk being pg! However in severe cases can cause pelvic inflammation and miscarriage so that really put the wind up me. The steroids are starting to kick in but they should after a week and have been in agony with the most dreadful pains and not sleeping at night for worrying. Today was some improvement so am taking it as a good sign and start stepping down the steroids to 35mg tomorrow but 7 more weeks of them. no midwife for 2 more weeks so have not had the doppler.
Am 15 weeks on wednesday and can see a bump now clearly but not sure if wind/colitis/pg tummy or hydo salpinx - at least it is growing and no bleeding apart from bottom - always an up side.
Thanks for the support and sorry to worry you all.
Lizzy how is yours?
Love
Tracey
xxx

Hi Tracey,

Sounds like you're having a bit of a time of it at the moment - feels a bit pointless to say try not to worry, but i was assured the steroids wouldn't harm the baby and if they're starting to kick in then hopefully you can get your flare up under control. At least then you won't have the extra worry of that causing problems. Oh - it's nothing but worry isn't it!!!

I take tablets every day to keep mine under control and when i got pg my gastro man said to try and lower the dose if i could (not that they should cause any harm to bubs but i guess the less you take in the first 12 weeks the better). Anywas i lowered the dose and got a flare up!!! Bummer. It's not been horrednous - tummy pains and bloating and all the usual nasties! I've been using the steroid enemas (is that too much info!!!) and it's getting better so i'm feeling ok.

Good to hear you're getting a bump now - i've got a little one, i think. My trousers are getting tight now - Yey, time to go shopping.

Look after yourself, Tracey - hope you start to feel better soon,
Much love, Lizzy xxx

Lizzy

thanks so much for the support - we really are a pair aren't we?!
The steroids are kicking in - have only been 3 times today and distinct improvement - what a sad life to keep peering down the toilet - what with that and the 2ww knicker checking that never really stops seems all so OTT but normal!
I can use those enemas (is that how you spell it? don't thinks so) as my colitis is very high up the colon and is left sided so no way will they do anything. Just oral steroids for me - on to 35mg today from 40 but as it starting to get under control am happy to drop - will drop by 5mg a week - they want to do it slowly. At least I slept last night - went out like a light and woke up shouting at 1.30 because I had gone to sleep straight away and not worried about baby - was saying to DH that I thought something had happened to baby as I had gone to sleep without worrying about it and woken up with no pains..... I am finally losing it. Went straight back to sleep then. The niggling abdomen pains have shifted slightly and I feel more comfortable except bump is growing (but that is fine)
take special care and look after yourself
Love
Tracey
xxxx

Hi Tracey,
Poor you - UC sounds an absolute nightmare. Have you thought of anything like reflexology - it's really good for gastro problems, and the practitioner will be able to show you some reflex points to prod on your hands (if you can't get to your feet) inbetween sessions. I know that the steroids will calm things down, but they're certainly not nice. Neither must be the pains or bottom problems.

I trained as a practitioner and it really worked for my dh who suffers really badly from ibs.

If you do decide to see someone make sure they've got MAR after their name in the yellow pages.

Hope this helps,
love Sallyxx

Hi - am ok thanks - also in work and desperately trying to not think about the amnio as I'm still in 2 minds about it, although I think I will have to have it, just to remove any doubt. Fortunately (or not) work is really busy, so i am pushing it out of my mind, then we're on holiday next week, so before I know it, it will be upon me!!

Can't believe how worrying all this pg business is - it's like we've swapped 1 set of infertility/ivf worries to a completely new set - that I don't think will ever go away, as there'll alwyas be something to worry about!! And if we're not worried then we'll be worried we're not!!!! Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!
