Happily, we recieved a BFP on our second IVF/ICSI attempt. I had my first ultra sound on Thursday at 6w3d and it was not as positive as I would have hoped. They saw two sacs and two heartbeats, although the doctor told us not to get excited, as he said Twin B may not make it. Twin A measured properly and had a heart rate within normal range. Unfortunately, Twin B measured about 5 days behind and only had a heartrate of 102. My dr. said the heart rate should be between 110 - 140. He told me we would just have to wait until the next ultrasound. He said it might perk up and be fine, but right now, it doesn't look good. He said the good news is that there usually isn't a domino effect, so if I lose Twin B, Twin A should still be fine. I have such mixed emotions. I want to be happy, but I'm worried. It is almost like I'm waiting to miscarry. It would be one thing if they didn't get a heartbeat, but Twin B has a little heartbeat and is tryig to survive. It is breaking my heart knowing there is nothing I can do to help the situation. Has anyone had a similar experience and have a positive result? In my research on the internet, I think there is only a 20% chance it will make it. Although, I've found hope I never knew I had in this whole IVF process, so I'm not going to give up on Twin B just yet. Is anyone in a similar situation? Any positive stories to share? Thanks!
Congrats on your BFP!!!!!! We are so thrilled for you! I'm not sure why your RE is so grim about the twins' sizes. My twins were 6-7 days apart for a long time and eventually leveled out but my RE said it was very normal. Our hb's were 20 beats apart at times as well. I think you just have to keep sending twin B lots of love and PMA!!! They are amazing fighters and I have tons of faith that your babies will both make it! Mine did and we are now on the home stretch!
Good luck and keep us posted. We want to hear all about both your babies for the next 8 months!!!!!
Take care!

At my first ultrasound they thought Twin B was a bleed in the uterus. The doctor sent me home and told me that my embryo was doing great but to expect some bleeding. I had NO bleeding and went back 10 days later only to learn that what looked like a bleed was really Baby B. My twins leveled out and are now measuring the same dates. Stay positive!!!! I'll be pulling for you!

Thank you for sharing your story. I was having a bit of a bad day today. Your story brought me right back to positive thinking. I'm hoping my second u/s turns out as wonderful as yours. Take care and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. Thanks again!
Hang in there! I'll cross my fingers everything will work out fine.
My doc didn't even check heartbeats at the first ultrasound (5 wks). I think he was too shocked by the amount there. I know they all had heartbeats. After I left I realized I didn't even get a photo of them.
Good luck!
