JB

Hope that Barcelona can give you some answers on the bleeding. Hope that GP can help too.

Sorry meant to say before that I had no idea that you had MS. I have sarcoidosis. It effects my lungs and feet in particular. I had a major flare up some 7 years ago when it was really very bad. Could not walk - feet went huge and black/blue. It took them ages to suss out what was wrong. Top specialist in Harley Street bottomed it out in the end. I was on steriods - which made me look like a German shot putter!!! Now I know the things that trigger it - stress/booze/junk food etc etc so need to try to avoid/reduce when I can.

For me it sounds like whilst I still respond ok, it may well have caused damage to all my eggs. In some ways helps me to think that because dh and I met around about the time I was first ill so even if we started trying then and there may still have been too late.

Love
Carolyn

Carolyn

we must have posted at the same time Hun.....Glad you managed the list, so easy peasy when you know how!!!! Well done hun. Sorry to hear about sarcoidosis, must have been hell not knowing what was wrong. I too lost power to walk and was in wheelchair for 6 months. DH and i went away around Europe in motorhome ( with wheelchair) and that helped heal me enough to be able to walk again. Legs a lot better but have other probs eyes arms etc. Have a couple of hours sleep during the day ( usually late afternoon when off work) to get through the day but am coping well. How do you managed to keep stress at bay while going through the mill with all the tmt cycles and tests you have been under??? Gosh girl you are one brave and strong lady! hats off to ya !!!! Steroids are a nightmare was only on them for 8 wks and that was enough. Do you get very tired all the time????
Again me too...DH and i too met around the time i was 1st ill. But just goes to show you that these things can build a stronger relationship and we are meant to be together. Is you DH your Rock???? My Dh is wonderful at reading the signs sometimes better than me... he can be a nag!!!! but i love him to bits x x

Baby blue i must have missed your post as we were all posting at the same time...thanks for adding all your tmt dates. You have been through a rough tmt time too!!! It's good that you have an EC and Et date..wow i am so jealous. Hope to be going for ET around the same time though. fingers crossed x x

anyway off now to make dinner for 'his nibs' (DH) and me
love to you all

Hi Girls

Thanks for adding me to the egg head list and welcoming me to this thread.

Jen & Carolyn - You are both very brave girls dealing with IVF alone is hard enough never mind what you two girls have been through.

Carolyn - I choose Hammersmith/IVI as need to get DH sperm to Spain and wanted the security of using a clinic that had experience in transporting sperm, I just felt safe with Hammersmith arranging this rather than me independently.

Anna - Mathew is lovely what a sweetie, thanks for giving us hope.

Hope you all OK I'm off to bed for early night AF due Friday but have feeling she coming early as I'm tired got horrible cramps.

Take care

Hi Ladies,

Hope you don't mind my popping in. While I have not yet committed to egg donor I think that is where we are going to end up. A quick run down of my history so far - 5 IVF cycles with ICSI (plus one cancelled). Of the 5, 3 were chemical pregnancies and 2 were bfn. They were all fresh cycles. Our last cycle was our best and we took the embryos to blast - still a bfn. We did manage to get 3 to freeze (our first frosties) so we have just started the FET this week.
Our RE feels the problem lies within the embryos so essentially this FET is unlikely to work.
My RE has requested a SCSA for my husband to determine whether there are any chromosomal abnormalities with his sperm because if there aren't then we will proceed with donor eggs.
We've looked at Zlin Clinic in Czech Republic so will probably use them if we can. It has been a long road but I am optimistic that if this FET doesn't work then at least we'l know whether we need donor sperm (if the SCSA comes back with high fragmentation) or donor sperm (if the SCSA comes back with low fragmentation). I will keep a watch on your progress so that I get a better understanding of the whole process!
Thanks Ladies for starting this...
Kelly

Hi all

kelly welcome to eggheads...pop in our out as you please sweetie. Hope all goes well with FET and those 3 frosties give you a BIG belly full of baby x x Have heard good news baout the Czech clinic..hope with all my heart you get a BFP with frosties and don't need to go there x x loving hugs x x

Poohie- have confused head on today!!!does hammersmith actually transfer the sperrm to ivi for you? Is it frozen? scuse my ingnorance. It's jsut that DH and i flew over to give sample didin't knw we could send it!!!! hun !!!! Hope AF starts and ends soon for you with minimal pain x x love x x

Carolyn how are you today???/work busy????

baby blue- how are you???? are the progesterone shots to delay a and get in sync with donor? a bit like our bc pills???? not long until you start hun x x love x x

anna i had a look on photo bucket...gosh ain't the wee fellow a STAR****. such a sweetie you must be so proud. x x

I am sitting in the garden with lap top and wi fi...we have actaully sun and heat today :D :D But I am still spotting so glad i had a GP appointment booked. All went well further info in post. When i came back from the gp I found Broc (PUP: now 11months old and obviously hungry) had eatten many pages in my diary( it's actually a filofax that i have had for 8 yrs...with everything in it :? think of all the phone numbers and addresses :? ) AND munched his way through my ORIGINAL notes from ivf clinic in my Barcelona IM folder...lucky enough most of them were salvage-able although there are many bite marks in them   anyway i went to GP to see about continuale bleed/staining. She was soooooooooo helpful and prescribed progesterone only tablets for days 12-26 CD...then AF will come in 3 days. So it will take the edge off my worry knowing the prog should stop the breakthru bleeding and not interfere with my cycle. This GP is new to me (2nd time i have seen her since move house). She has gone thru ivf in Harley street and now has twins. Spoke to her about my pre ET scan of womb lining for IM and progesterone pesseries when i get BFP!!! ( spot the PMA ladies) and she will prescribe on NHS...NO NEED TO GO PRIVATE. I love this GP, can totally let go of any stress or worries surrounding tmt here in scotland now. Whoooo *breathes a sigh of relief* smiles all round :D :D :D

anyway off now to make dinner

love jen

JB - you are the really brave one - a wheelchair for 6 months so you zoom off in a motorhome. You brave, brave lady. When I was reading what you wrote much of it rang true. I get tired pretty easily but that is all cause I over do it all the time! Dh nags me and knows when I am getting tired or my symptoms are getting worse. He is a star. Totally my rock. Try to focus on that when I get low. We have been together 7 years and every year something has hit us - at the start I was in New York and he was here, then I got the sarcoidosis but he stuck with me (he came over one evening and it took me 15 mins to get down the stairs on my bum to let him in with - cold - fish and chips), then we broke up as he would not commit, back together and within a month he had a near fatal motorbike accident when a lorry did a u turn (touch and go for days in intensive care and then 6 months recovery when he could barely move), then his Mum got cancer and died within weeks, his Dad then went into a home as he was so poorly and he passed away 18 months later & then for the last 2 years we have had this ivf rubbish to deal with. But we are so much stronger because of all we have been through together - I truely believe that is why we met and are together. It can only get better - right!!! Plus if we can get through all this then we must have something special. I found that the acu helped me reduce stress in the cycle (you know that I am a fan). I have also taken all my holiday when I have been cycling this year which has helped a lot as I can sleep more. Your gp sounds a sweatheart but if she could not understand then noone could

Anna - looked at the pics. He is so dam cute. You must be so happy. Will you try for a little brother or sister or is your family now complete?

Kelly - so hope that the FET works and that you'll not need to join us but also know the feelings off losing confidence in ones own eggs. Of course I have worries about the donor route but feel so much better about the eggs as mine are so rubbish. Anyway for now you must give the FET your best shot but hopefully you will see from this thread that there can be a plan B

Vicki - of course I forgot that HH have your dh's sperm. Makes sense for them to send it over for you rather than trying to do yourself. Hope that AF is not too rough and she is here soon for you. Did they recommend IVI in Madrid to you? Do you know what there statistics are like? Just been curious!

Kim - I am so jealous that you have dates already. I so want to cycle before Xmas but must not get ahead of myself. A day at a time - right. When was your initial appointment and how long did you have to wait to get dates?

Went to the hospital and got the tests done that Barcelona need. Blood group, syphelisis and something else. Dh went yesterday. They should be with our gp in about a week. Have notes from Hammersmith already. Filled in paperwork for ARGC notes last Friday when we had our follow up but they said that they could take 40 days!!!! Appointmnt is 6 weeks today so hoping that we will have everything together to send to them beforehand!?

I have some totally huge questions going around in my head and wondered whether I could list them here and see what others think. I realise that these are highly emotive and everyone has different views. I am not trying to argue - just understand the points of view/pros-cons.

- Are you planning to tell other people that you used a donor egg?

- Have you thought yet whether you will tell the child?

- Do you have any concerns about the fact that by going to Spain that the donor will be anonymous and therefore limited information will be available?

I will be brave and say where I am at now (although I do keep changing my mind) to get the ball rolling:

- I have told people who I trust already. I want to be honest. I need support. I want people to understand the steps we have taken to become a Mum and Dad. I don't want it to be hidden or secret. I will not tell people who I don't trust or fear could every use it against me/my family

- I thought not but we had one session of councelling and I have been looking at the Donor Conception website. I cannot keep this secret from a child. I want to feel proud of what we went through to be parents. My mind at the moment says to tell the child and hope that the honesty will help all of us

- This worries me but sadly I do not feel that I have the time to wait in the UK. So I view this as the only practical choice

Would really like to her other views/points of views as these are such hard choices. May be I am getting ahead of myself but I want to go into this with my eyes open up front. And there are very few people who can help with the answers other than you wonderful ladies.

Well have a good evening ladies. My dh forgot that he had a golf match this evening so I am just chilling out. In my PJs already so will have an early night.

Love
Carolyn

Welcome aboard the egghead bus, Kelly!! Hope you have a very successful FET. Keep us posted on your progress.

Sorry guys, I was only able to post my changes on the list and had to quickly disappear. Work has been a bugger bear!!

JB and Carolyn, you two have really been through so much in life. I admire both of you for your determination to go for your dreams and enjoy life as much as you two seem to. Jen - sounds like you have a great GP, but a spoiled puppy. I love my dog but when they are pups they can try your very last nerve with the uncontrollable chewing. Hope the progesterone works, you need to go into this with a worry-free dispostion. From what I understand I will be taking Delestrogen shots, progesterone capsules, and progesterone supp. This is to build up my endrometrial lining. She didn't mention bc pills, but I took them to start off the 2 IVF cycles.

Vicki, not much longer until you find out your schedule. They will give you some dates on 8/30 won't they? I hope so.

Anna, I'm not very good at the photo thing. I went to photobucket and did a search for Matthew and found tons. How do I see your Matthew?

Carolyn, I would love to respond to some of your questions, but will have to do that tomorrow. Gotta go. DH is waiting to pick me up from work today.

Have a great day my friends,
Kim

I used to post on here while I was going through my IVF's but it all got too much for me so have been a quiet stalker for a while. When I read this i wanted to join you all as the donor path has been very lonely for me and it's great to know that there are people out there that truely understand.

The quick version of my story - TTC for 2 years; 3 natural IUI - all BFN; DH then diagnosed with variocele (sp?); feb 07 IVF with ICSI #1 - poor responder but my clinic perservered (on stims for 20 days) - 26 eggs; all poor quality (fried!) zero fertilisation, heart broken; April 07 IVF/ICSI #2 - same thing - stims for 21 days; 31 eggs - all poor quality; zero fertilastion ...heart broken again ...changed clinics... June 07 Menopur/follistim IUI - 9 days on stims... 4 follicles... BFN, devastated. Now - currently going through DE IVF with sister - ER expected monday!! been through the whole emotional rollercoaster and now getting to the point where I am letting myself get a tiny bit excited. Reading all your posts has certainly helped me. I have struggled with the DNA bit and also being so close to my donor has been both great and hard on the head!!

I would love to share this journey with you.

Good luck to all of you
