This is not a critical topic in the grand scheme of things. But I would like to open up this topic in case anyone else has had success at losing weight in the inter-IVF breaks.
On another forum, a member (Anie) posted a question about getting back in shape after a failed IVF or IUI. The bloated abdomen that we get after fertility treatments is not helpful for those of us who are trying to be discreet-- or for anyone for that matter. We may even get looks - people eyeing the belly- or questions -are you expecting?
I know this has happened to me a few times the past year.... If only they knew the truth...
So- any tips on how to look and feel fit and healthy again? Personally, I have joined a Gym, but would love any advice any of you have... or rants
(I gained about 7 pounds this last cycle).
How are you doing?Are you feeling better?Sorry i don't remeber what is your situation....your IVF did not work...?If you could refresh my memory,please...
I'm glad you started this thread Hopefully we can get more help to get in shape I can fully understand when people sees the belly and ask "are you preg.?" And i can see that heppening to me when i go to Lisbon and meet all my family Have no idea what excuse to make!!!
I went to doctor yesterday and asked him what to do to get back to "normal". His only advise was to do exercise so if you are going to gym that's good;you are in the right track.
As for me doing exercise is a problem cause i work from 8.30 till 6.30...long hours! Can't see my self getting up even earlier to do exercise!!! Oh God! What to do????
Anyways, you take care.

1st IVF : Aug/07 - 6eggs but no fertilization :(
2nd ICSI: Oct/07 - test:22/Nov=BFN :(
3th ICSI: July/08; Testing:5th Sept-BFP :D
I had a July IVF/ICSI - I only had two eggs fertilize and get transferred, and on Aug 3rd, I got a BFN. Now we are going to meet with the RE on Aug 14 to discuss options. In the meantime, I would like to try and get some of this weight off... my worry is that I will pile on even more weight with the next cycle...
Are you going for another IVF cycle??
I also work but not as long hours. I have managed to go to the gym 3 times last week. I think you could do sit-ups and other floor exercises at home tooo.. maybe 15-20 minutes in the morning... or on weekends.
It would be good to hear from someone who has "been there, done that" and been successful, though....
Here is an article I found which gives tips other than exercise for getting that bloating down... I am sure many of the tips apply to our situation too.
Wouldn't hurt to try!
Thanks for that article. Will have a look and try to do something.
I will start next cycle when i return from my holidays and that will be next month.This time we will do ICSI as first time we were meant to do ICSI but done IVF.
I wanted to ask you one thing: is it normal for AF to come late?
My last AF was on 9th July, EC on 3rd Aug. and no fertils. and my next AF was suppose to come on 11th the latest.I'm 2 days late which has never happen before and im sure im not preg.
Just wanted to know if this is a normal situation.
How long should i wait before talk to doctor that AF is late.....
Any advise will be great.
Thanks
Anie

This is somewhat on the same topic. I will begin Lupron on August 16. I am not a fitness person by anymeans, but I do try to watch what I eat and stay somewhat active (somewhat is the key word). What kind of excerise do you guys suggest during IVF/ICSI. I was thinking that low key cardio like walking and elipical would be okay. Do you guys think otherwise? Also, on average how much to you think a typical person gains during a cycle?

7dp5dt = 203
9dp5dt = 540
16dp5dt = 5,008 - IT's TWINS!!!
No wait...NOW IT's TRIPLETS!!!!

Anie- My AF was about 4 days late this time. I think your cycle gets thrown off due to all the hormones (especially the progesterone towards the end). I don't know how late is too late, but talk to your RE before leaving for vacation... you may even want to try an hpt if AF is several days late.... who knows? It is frustrating, though, if you were generally regular - like me. The only thing predictable about my repro. system has been my 31 day cycle!!!
Christin - I continued normal light exercise during the stims; but once you undergo ET, I would limit your movement to walking only for 2 weeks... till you get your preg test. Also stay hydrated and eat healthy!
Just an update- We met with the RE today - - probably going for an Oct/Nov cycle. No changes to the protocol, since I am already on max stims. This way I will get a break before starting all over again (and it will help financially, since we have to pay out of pocket!).
Going to Europe for a 10-day holiday in September.. should be a good change!!!
