Thanks for the response Lacy! I truly appreciate it. I realized I didn't sign off with much about myself of DH so here it goes:

Me = 36
DH = 39
1st lap - tube removed 5/04
2 failed IVF cyles (10/04 and 4/05)
2nd lap - now both tubes removed 4/07
Praying 3rd times a charm

I'm trying to mentally prepare myself. I'm definitely going to do acupuncture this time around. I'm hoping to start within the next week or so. Wishing you plenty of baby dust.

Hi everyone. I am glad that I joined this thing. Thank you everyone, finally a safe place to vent. I just went to Dr.'s today and will begin my Stim shots tonight. The Lupron has been making me very emotional. Have any of you experienced that? Best wishes-chriss

Chriss,

Good luck with the stim shots! I felt a little moody on Lupron, but I'm always a little moody, so who knows?

Start Simms Soon

Post by Kelley77 »

hello...I have been reading all of the stories on here for months now, and am finally ready to tell my own.

Well.....we went for the injection class tonight...WOW... Was VERY suprised by the large box, with all of the meds. I am on BC, will Start Lupron on the 16th, My stimms will be 75 mg(?) of Follistom, and then Progesterone Shots  (my Doc doesnt like the suppositories!) and an estrogen patch....... I am thinking the Follistom is pretty low...lowest you can take anyway, so I am a little nervous about that. We shall see..

I start the simms on the 16th and guess my ER will be around Sept 5th? Maybe a little later???

I pray that this works...not only for me, but for each of you.

Oh yeah...My husband (who has 2 children from a previous marriage 17 & 15, and one beautiful little boy who is ours together...naturally conceived 4 years ago) has low sperm count, low motility, and after 40 years, we found out that he not only has one kidney, but only one vas deferen tube. So, this is quite a shock to us, that we are having to do this. However, I realize everyone has their own stories..their own shock, nothing seems to make a lot of sense when it comes to this.

Good luck everyone, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers....daily.....

Just popping in to say Good Morning ladies.

Chriss - I can remember being extremely rude to DH. He understood it was all the medicine and the pressure of IVF. Don't worry about it.

Kelley77 - The first time a received my huge package I too was overwhelmed. After a few days of injections, I was a pro. I didn't think I would be able to give myself the shots but it was a breeze. I did the prog. suppositories so I can't speak on the injections. Don't worry, it'll all be worth it.

Good luck to all. I'm looking forward to starting my BCPs.

Are there any shots that are really too hard to give to yourself? Shots that have to go into muscle I guess? I have the progesterone suppos. things so I dont have to do those shots, but wondering what other type of shots I might need to do. I know ... I know.... I should just want to meet with my Dr. but wow this is stressful. I really can not see my husband being able to give me any shots ... he is such a baby when it comes to that stuff. God love him! :o)

Here's a toast to all my soon to be BFP ladies!!!!! Positive thinking is crucial I hear! :o)

Hi ladies,

How's everyone doing? I am doing just fine after having given myself the 5th Lupron injection. The Lupron shots are really easy to give. I do that on my tummy. Lace, I think the intramuscular ones are the only ones that we need someone else to give because we can't quite get the angle right if we were to give them ourselves. Plus, the needles are slightly longer than the subcutaneous ones :? I certainly am not looking forward to that!!!

I always wanted to ask you guys this question. Has any of you discuss with your DH about the possibility of using donor sperms if things don't work? If so, what's their reaction like? My DH totally freaks out when I asked him this question the other day. He said no way no way and he didn't want to talk about it. Later on, he said he just can't imagine putting another man's sperms inside me...

Just wondering...

Have a good day.

How is everybody doing today? Looks like some of you are getting alot closer to retrieval. Can't wait to see how many eggies we all get.
LALA
I have talked to my husband about donor sperm a while back, at first he said no way he would rather go towards adoption. After I told him the cost difference he kind of said he would consider it. After asking him again a few months later he said he would but only as a last resort. We hope that we will never go that route but if we do have three failed IVF's we probably would do donor with iui because we are dealing with male factor only. I think that it would be very hard on either partner when dealing with donor egg or sperm to choose that route and I am sure everybody feels differently about it.
Have I nice weekend everyone.

Hello everyone. Hope you are all doing well. This is a tough thing we are all doing here, but... WE ARE DOING IT! And we have each other. Stay strong, I am trying to.

Julie- Thanks for the response. I'm moody too. And thanks for your positive outlook.

Shawn - Thanks for the support. My energy and moods change all of the time. Every day is different for me. I started using some guided meditation cds and they seem to be helping to ease the stress. When do you start BCP's? How long will you be on them? I think I was on them around 10 days before I started Lupron. I just read your profile and I see that this is your third IVF. I often hear about it working on the third try. This may just be it! This is my first IVF. Even though it is challenging, I feel like I will keep trying as long as I can because I hear about so many people who don't give up and eventually it works for them. What about you?

Lace- I never thought I could deal with the needles, but I surprised myself. My husband and I alternate doing the shots. I want him to get practice because he will have to give me the progesterone shots. I'm scared of them. The Sub-Q shots are really not bad. You can do it. If I can, you can. Your husband may surprise you too. Sometimes the anticipation is worse than the actual thing. "Nothing to fear but fear itself."

Lala- A pretty long time ago I asked my husband if he would consider donor sperm. He was like, "NO WAY!" Now that we've been through so much, I've also brought up the idea of donor eggs. He is starting to open up to these ideas a little, but he really does not want to think about it yet. I'm not all that sure how I feel either but after going through all of this, my views are changing.

Till tomorrow everyone- Best wishes - chriss

Hi, ladies!

Happy Friday!

Regarding the shots: Just a reminder. Remember to let the rubbing alcohol on your skin dry before administering the shot. It burns!

My DH is just itching to get back to poking me with needles next Thursday. Kidding. It's really not that bad.

Have a great weekend everyone! Stay cool!

Hi Ladies,

I hope everyone is doing okay. It looks like a lot of you have already started your shots. Originally, I thought we'd do ER 1st or 2nd wk in Sep, but we went for calendar appt today. I start Gonal-F on 9/7, with expected ER between 17th and 21st...and implanting between 21st and 24th. As long as we've been trying, you would think waiting another month wouldn't be that big of a deal....BUT IT IS!

I appreciate everyone sharing. I don't always write, but I read everyone's messages. I know we are all brave and will better mothers for all of this :D
