Finally....

I am '10 weeks and 6 days and I feel like I can join your board now... I am still scared that something bad will happen. I had food poisoning this weekend (sunday) and went to the OB on Monday to hear the heartbeat. They reassured me that baby(fiesty) is well insulated and even though my head spun around and I puked like Linda Blair from the Exorcist and I made my bed on the bathroom tile floor.. that everything was fine...

I am still nervous.. but I want to pop my head in and say high.. The girls from the June 2 week thread.. Dixigal, IVFMUM and others are the ones that I have been following and joining in on from time to time on the boards.... Hope I can hop on here!!!

Hello everyone!

I had a little scare today. Regarding dopplers....I work in a doctor's office and I usually use the doppler to listen to the heartbeat but my dh has advised me not to do that because it will just freak me out if I don't find it. Well, I used it again today and wanted dh to listen for the first time so he agreed. Well, lo and behold, I could not find it at all and he was freaking out how he warned me not to do it. So he called my regular OB and they booked me in to get an U/S right away. She herself advised against it because it was a little early to hear the heartbeat (10wks) although I've heard it a few times already by myself. Anyway, there was my little one on U/S, waving its little arms and legs and even stretched out at one point. Boy, was I relieved! But I think I'll stay away from dopplers from now on and just follow my doctor's orders. I'm still booked for an U/s at my RE's on Thursday too....

Hope everyone is well!

Hi everyone,
I haven't written in awhile due to some horendous nausea. It's morning, noon, and night on the roller coaster from hell! Finally, today I actually feel better. I bought some nausea bands and they seem to be doing the trick. My nurse practitioner also gave me a perscription for some medication to help. I am going to give it a try tomorrow to see if it can take the rest of the edge off. I am a teacher and I don't think I can teach 10 and 11 year olds feeling like I have been, plus I have a two year old at home. Anyone else try perscription drugs for nausea relief?
I had another u/s last week and got to hear the babies' heartbeats. They are doing great. I have another one next Monday. I also had my first appointment with the nurse practitioner I see. She was recommended to me during my last invitro through my RE. She is great. She gave birth to twins 22 years ago and knows all about the difficulty of twin pregancy. We discussed me seeing a perintologist for my OB care, but I don't know if they will take me unless I have something go wrong. Since there are only two in the state of Alaska they are pretty busy. Is anyone else seeing one? If I don't get picked up by them I will see the same OB as last time.
Hope things are going well for everyone else. One day at a time is my motto:)

Hey annag,

I am in the same situation. I work in the hospital and we have doppler there. I tried to listen for heartbeat but could not find it. I am a little nervous but will wait until Monday to go to my ob and listen to it there. I am now 11w3d. How about you? How many weeks are you?

Hey sleepyfoy,

Welcome back. I can relate about nausea and vomiting. I am just getting over vomiting but nausea is still there. I am glad that your babies are doing well.

Hello Ladies :) :)

Well im back from my hols and have just finished reading all your posts...and gosh there were alot!!
Its sounds like everything is going great with everyone...loved reading about all your scans and stuff it all sounds sooo exciting.

Hello and welcome to all the new ladies that have been posting since ive been away :)
Well i had a ok time on holiday! the 2nd day we were there i got a terrible upset tummy and was in the toilet every couple of hours for about 5 days...just kept drinking botttled water..didnt really feel like much else, so i dont know how the hell i have actually put on weight!!
Hows everybody else doing with the weight thing?..its just all my tops are fine yet my bottoms are all really tight around my waist! now i dont know if thats the progesterone or the babies..help! :?

I have also been officailly released from my fert clinic to a normal hospital now..how scarey.
I have my first appointment with my midwife on Monday afternoon, and then on Tuesday i have my next scan.. i will be 10 weeks and 1 day then!, my last scan i was 7 weeks so there will be a big change i think.
Still not having any real syptoms, no nausea, just very swallon breasts, and i little tiredness but thats it really! How about everyone else?

Its so nice to be home, ive really missed this board! How sad is that

Hey Laurie- Glad you're back. Where did you go on holiday? I'm so jealous!! We were supposed to go to France this past June (Aix en Provence), but then, of course, we did IVF instead, so no vacation for me this summer- not that I'm complaining!!

I met with my regular ob this past Wednesday. It was weird going back to see him. At my fertility clinic, everyone knew my name- I always felt like Norm on Cheers- the nurse actually cried, hugged me, and said how much she'd miss me. But, at my regular group, they are so huge, I don't even think my doctor remembered me, even though I've been seeing him for several years and he did all kinds of invasive testing on me last year, (hyterosalpinogram, laparoscopy, etc..) before referring me to a fertility clinic, so I was a little surprised that he acted like he had never seen me before. Oh well, I guess I'll have to get used to being a "regular" pregnant person now- one of probably 30 he saw on Wed.
I actually cried all afternoon when I got home. I felt like I had just gone off to college and was homesick for my mommy, but my mommy was my RE!! Maybe I'm just a touch hormonal!
I am having a nuchal translucency in about three weeks. Has anyone had one?

hey everyone! I have to apologize i get carried away with the weather blogs during hurricane season and haven't been on in a few days.

jodi, its good to hear from you ! i'm glad your doing so well!!! sorry to hear about the food poisoning.. that had to be awful.

I had my 12 week ultrasound today... (still with my fertility doc) the babies were huge compared to last week!!! i was so shocked. you their legs and arms are all long and stretched out.. i could see the spine and everything!
so basically they are twice as big this week as they were last week.. over two inches crown to rump and then they have long legs .. it was so neat.. looks like a real little babies now....

thye are measuring 12 weeks and 3 days and almost all of the blood was gone from around the baby! so i'm off complete bed rest for now... YES!!!
talk to yall later :)

Hey!!

I love this site!!

jeneden!! I have been to Provence a couple of years ago and it was beautiful.. It was snowing but lovely.. Next time you will have your little one to travel with!! I have this weird obsession with the Eiffle Tower... I have pictures upon pictures... Scarey!!

Larurie!! Where did you go for Holiday? I love it when it is refered to Holiday instead of Vay Kay....Holiday sounds more refined...
Tajma... what do you do in the hospital.. Iwould be at the doppler everyday.. I would be naughty....I would try to hear the beat everyday....

Heather.. I hope your N/V is better.. that sounds like it is not so much fun..

Have a great weekend ladies!

Hi

Goodmorning all :)
How is everyone today?

Jeneden...i was exactly the same when i was handed over to my regular midwife, i think after all the special care you recieve from the clinics transfering to a normo hospital feels really scarey!! you cant just phone up and say "hi, its laurie here" and expect them to know who you are!

Dixi....wow your babies sound like there getting massive... are you getting bigger in yourself? i already feel like im expanding, my regular jeans dont fit anymore, yet i dont want to buy maternity clothes yet either! just feel its stiill too soon.

Yes my holiday so sooo lovely, we stayed in a little hamlet called Argentat, which i set right next to the Dordogne River, right down in the vallys.
The veiws were just amazing, and i just love all the stone buildings with there shutters...it was wonderful...but as with every holiday it feels like we never left as life just gos on as normal...oh welll....(long sigh)...........

Hope you all have lovely plans for the rest of the weekend, speak to you all later.

Hi ladies, just thought I'd leave a short note for you all, I often read but don't post and only ever post now and again.
It's nice to read your posts and hear your news, you all sound great, some a little sick (me too) but none the less, on the way to becoming great mums.
I wish you all well!!!

I had my first u/s about 4 weeks ago now and it was one baby just sitting, relaxing all on its own. I have another scan booked for the end of August, so looking forward to that really as just keep thinking something bad is going to happen, don't know why.
Losing my marbles I expect.

Anyway I'll be reading all the threads and posting from time to time, so goodluck, especially thinking of you dixiegal and sleepfoy etc, seems a life time ago now when we were on our two week wait together doesn't it?

love and best wishes

kay it does seem like forever since we were on our two week wait. it still amazes me how many of us from that sight actually got a bfp... considering the variety in our ages and such.... the success rate theoretically would only have ben maybe 35 to 45 % and i think it about 75% or more got bfp's. incredible.

laurie, yes the babies are getting big.. its so amazing. I am jumping stumps waiting to find out what they are... we saw something yesterday and it leans toward one of them being a girl... but its still to early to tell.
I am definitely getting bigger.... i've gained three pounds but it looks like 15.. LOL. I have out grown most of my clothes and i think its to early for maternity but i am NOT going to go buy clothes 2 sizes bigger when i'll have to turn around and buy maternity... so i'm making due with some stretchy shorts and capri's, and a few maternity t shirts from old navy... LOL.

jodi i'm really dreading leaving my re.....
I'll see a periontologist ( high risk specialist) who has been my regular obg since my daughter was born in 98... but i have no idea how often she will do ultrasounds and such. I'm really going to miss those weekly scans... I hope i can get a better idea of what the gender is before they release me LOL. it might be a long time before i get to do another one.

hope everyone is well....

Sounds like everyone is coming along well these days. I recently caught a nasty virus from DD and am on my way of being "normal" again. Funny, I thought is was morning sickness and then it just got worse. I was in bed for two days. Luckily I was able to convince my OB to have an u/s this Thursday. I will be 10 1/2 weeks and just could not wait until 18 as it was originally scheduled. I needed the reassurance before we burst out with the good news to all our friends.

Being sick is scary when you are pregnant, but I realize it happens to many. Luckily that little one is protected. I'm just glad it is finally ended.

Have a great week all,
Sher8

sher i'm sorry to hear you had a virus... as if morning sickeness isn't enough by itself.
I don't know if any of you have had any problems with heartburn or stomache acid ( i have had a horrible time with it because my hormone levels are so high)... Anyway, i got to looking on the internet for something that would help because tums just wasn't cutting it. I found out that zantac 75 otc was apparently just fine... so i asked my doc about it. He is really funny about medicine but he agreed that i could take it when necessary... and i have to say WOW what a difference. I have felt so much better in the evening the last couple of days. every evening i would throw up right before dinner ( nothing but acid) and right before bed... same thing. It would hurt my stomache to swallow food in the afternoons and evenings and nothing helped. I was worried about tums because i was taking probably 20 a day and with my dd i ended up with kidney stones. soooo, if you are having raging problems with heartburn and acid reflux... check with your doc because it has been the absolute best thing in the world!!! LOL. ( and i only take one a day or every other day)
I might even get to enjoy feeling pregnant now !!!
how is everyone else???

Wow, what a great tip! I will definitely keep this in mind. I got heartburn off and on with my first pregnancy. I definitely get morning sickness. I never had it once with DD and now every morning. I find that a glass of OJ and some food helps it go away. I also got Seabands and not sure if they work yet? I'm also considering getting ginger candies. I have high hopes this goes away after the first trimester.

How is everyone doing? It's been kind of quiet out there.

Hi

Post by laurie35 »

Hello :)
Well its been a busy couple of days for me! Yesterday, i had my first midwife appointment, which didnt go quite as planned.
First they only booked me in for a single appointment, when i should have had a double, so i didnt get my blood work dont or anything else they needed to do!
Then she told me that they would have to book me another booking in appointment, to do everything else because they are short staffed and didnt have the time yeaterday!
So i didnt get to ask any questions, ive been sent home with my own paperwork to fill in, with a promise that someone will give me a call in a few days to arrange another appointment(which could be a couple of weeks away!!!)
So i came home feeling really fed up! So im going to go back to the doctors tomorrow to book an appointment with a different midwife if she hasnt called me by then!
Anyhoo....today was a good day...today i went for my 10wk 1 day scan :D They have grown soooo much in 3 weeks its almost unbelievable.
Baby 1 measures 35.4mm and Baby 2 measures 34.8mm.
You could see there hb really strong today and could also see them moving around!! it was so weird, i could have honestly led and watched all day long.
Just seeing that today makes everything we have been through worthwhile, you know :)
I have my next scan in 2 weeks time, wish it was tomorrow, and then they think about every 2 weeks till i due! thats alot of scans :)
Also got weighed! i thought i had put on about a stone but only had put on 4lbs...yet my body is tottally a different shape..

So how is everyone else? its been so quite on here since before the weekend!
]Glad you have got something forthe heartburn dixie, only had abit myself but that was weeks ago,and nothing since.

Love to you all
Laurie xx
