Baby Kicking

Post by daniellewngs »

I am 26 weeks along with twins and I have been concerned that I rarely feel the babies kick. I started to feel light flutters around 22 weeks and that was right after an ultrasound showed they were moving like crazy. At 24weeks I called my Doctor in concern, I was still not feeling anything very often (unless I really tried to feel) and he had me come in for an ultrasound. Sure enough they were kicking like crazy, I just could not feel them. My Doctor said at this last ultrasound they were facing and kicking into each other, so that would explain the lack of movemement I felt. I just feel very uncomfortable with not being able to feel much movement. I am of normal weight and this is my first pregnancy.
I am curious as to what others are feeling and when. Is this normal, or should I really be concerned. I am worried all the time. Thanks for any info anyone can give to help put my mind at ease.

I think the babies are just facing in a way that makes it hard for you to feel them. They also may be sitting further back or something. If they look fine and are kicking on the u/s then try no to worry too much.

My twins really developed patterns in their times of being awake and kicking around 22-23 weeks. Also, when I rub my tummy or drum my fingers on it they come awake and start to play. I know it's frustrating not to always feel them but it sounds like they are healthy and fine so try relax and see what happens.

Take care~

Hi, I'm 21 weeks with just the one baby and I also can't feel anything, apparently my placenta is at the front (anterior) and this cushions the early kicks which means it tends to take a little longer to feel the baby. I suspect if you're having twins then at least one of the placenta's will be at the front so maybe this also is masking the early kicks.

At the scan onTuesday the baby was kicking and somersaulting away and it seems incredible that at nearly 30 cms I can't feel it in my stomach?!!!

Hopefully we'll all have our minds put at rest shortly, in the meantime I've found that my normal doctor's surgery is more than happy to listen for the heartbeat with the handheld doppler should I ever need the reassurance.

Good luck
