Piriton - can I take it?

Post by suzanne »

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone may be able to advise me as to whether it's safe to take Piriton antihistamines. I'm 31 weeks pregnant at the moment and have been eaten alive by insects in the night, and am itching like crazy.

I'm waiting for someone from the nhs helpline to get back to me, but thought someone on here might be able to help in the meantime.

Thanks,
Suzanne.

Piriton - can I take it?

Post by bubblymichelle »

Hi Suzanne

I don't think you are able to take it because my niece went to GP for something like that he said she could take them but it would be at her own risk so she didn't take them. Let me know what they said at the NHS helpline.
Love
Shell.
xx

Thanks Shell.

nhs helpline said I should speak to my gp, and would you believe I'm still trying to. I couldn't get an appointment today, but the pharmacist suggested that the gp might be prepared to prescribe an antihistimine cream without seeing me, so I'm waiting for the receptionist to call me back.

The itching is driving me mad!!!!!! No more evenings spent in the garden for me!

Suzanne.x
