Im worried about having 3 day transfer!!

Post by ARG »

I had egg retrieval on the 13th August and embryo transfer on the 15th August . I had only 4 fertilised eggs and two of them were not suitable for freezing. However I did get two grade 2 embryos that had cleaved 4 to 5 cell divisions each. The Consultant seemed really positive, as I was, until I started reading that it was better to do a 5 day blastcyst. I dont know a lot about it really. Is this something done in America as it hasnt been mentioned to me here in the UK. I had taken things easy this past two days. It feels really strange to think the embryos are in my tummy. I just hope they go the distance. What are my chances?? Anybody???

Angela,

I too was worried about transferring early, and did a lot of research. For me, I only had two eggs fertilize. Because we were going to transfer 2, there was no reason to wait to do the transfer, and we transferred on day 2. Essentially. for couples who have many fertilized eggs, they like to wait to day 5 to transfer the best embryos.

But for those of us with a few fertilized eggs, there is really no reason to wait to day five. Some argue that it might even be better for the embryos to be in womb. Like I said, I was really worried about it, but got a BFP today! So even though I transferred on day 2, it did not affect the outcome, and might have even helped it!

So stay positive, and hopefully you will get your BFP soon!
