Nicky, Cheer up, you are on the list now, I assume you mean the NHS list, i know it takes a while, but keep your spirits up, you are going in the right direction. Have you had lots of tests yet? Where will you get your treatment? I am at LGI (leeds), i live in North Yorkshire.

When we were put on the NHS waiting list, we were told it would be a two and a half year wait. They phoned us a year later to say we had come to the top of the list and could start treatment the next month!
Good luck!

Thank you for your messages. I feel very sad as my BMI has let us down as it is not low enough for treatment and my DH has to have test... I have had alot of blood test at our local hospital. They send them to clinic... We think if my BMI was lower and my DH test was done we would have be have treatment next month..
I feel at time I have no one to talk to about is... and cannot figure out how to join in on the chat and i have not alot to talk about i think.
Hi Nicky, Are you on the NHS list? or private?, the time is never immediate from your first visit as the clinic will always have extra tests to do from what you have had done at your local hospital. As an example, i was referred to the local hospital, and after numerous tests which showed nothing conclusive i was referred to the fertility clinc, they then did more detailed tests and found a male factor, but only slight. As we wer on the NHS list (2year wait) we agreed to fund a cycle, this still had a waiting list and we started treatment 6 months later. This took almost 2 years from first consulting my doctor. I am sorry you are frustrated and upset at all the delays, but this gives you time to get your body ready to give yourself the best possible chance. Please try to relax and see the positives that you are on the way to getting your dream. hang in there.

Thank you for the information. Yes we are on the NHS list put in Co Durham the waiting list is four to five years and that will made me and DH 40 and that is the cut off age for the NHS.
I no i have to get my body right for all this and more with having diabetes to.
It is just so hard and so much pain at time. I thought lost my Dad was hard and painful. I am not the type of person to have to wait it makes me what to pull my hair out.
Hi Nicky, I am sorry about the waiting list. My health trust cancelled all treatment since January this year, until April next when they will reassess the finances. I am top of the list and have been postponed. I don't know about Durham, but I will get treatment as soon as i am within 4 months of my 40th birthday, these are the only couples getting funding in my area at the moment.
I can sympathise with the weight and diabetes on top must be very hard, however on a positive note a lady on the forum has a high BMI, and has lost just over 2 stone, her BMI is still over 30, but she has just found out she is pregnant naturally. She has already done IVF and this failed.
Are you gouing to go private? if so where will your treatment be?
Good luck on the weight loss, and keep positive, none of us thought we would have this trouble to get our wish.

Sorry i didn't reply sooner, very busy at work due to staff hols. I know how you feel about waiting, i am now 38, and went for my first consult 3 years ago. It is so frustrating. The other problem is how all the trusts shove fertility funding to the bottom of the pile if they need extra elsewhere.
I am on a diet and hope to lose a stone before i start treatment next month, I have an underactive thyroid and have put on 2 stone in 2 years. I am now stable and supposedly the weight should fall off, but i find it very hard to lose even on a calorie controlled diet. You should ask your doctor for assistance especially as you are diabetic. My sis in law is seriously diabetic (4 injections a day) and she has 2 beautiful children, so keep the faith.
Come join us ladies on the awaiting treatment thread, it does help to gather information and to have support from others struggling with the same problems.
have a good weekend.

Hi nicky, Glad to see you've joined us on the other thread. wow on the weight loss, glad your doc is helping, hopefully this will give you every chance.
waiting lists area nightmare, i could never get a straight answer about where i was on the list. Our wait time was 18-24 months, and all funding was cancelled in january and extended till april 2008. I rang regarding this to find out i was 14th in August last year, and at the top of the list in January, had they not cancelled. I now have to hope they reinstate funding next year. i really hope your time scale is sooner than that.
take care
Jayne
