Shopping question - swimwear

Post by Tracey S »

This might seem a particularly silly question but once the schools go back I thought I would particurlaly use my Friday's off work to go swimming. Don't fancy it so much at the moment!
Question - costumes. I went to Mothercare in Leicester the other day but this one is one of those discount mothercares now - so cheap thought - bought 2 bras for £4 each and as these melons keep growing much better than M& S prices etc! They had 2 cossies in the sale but were not my size. I could try the other proper mothercare with the normal lines in but what are you doing for cozzies - do I just get a normal one but bigger? I know this is a really daft question but clothes I am managing - swimming costumes seem far to daunting for my shrinking pg brain.
Thanks
Tracey
xxx

Shopping question - swimwear

Post by Sarah30 »

Hi Tracey

I had the same dilema last weekend. I've been surfing the net and having a good look round but in the end just bought one in mothercare for £18 - the maternity ones are specially made with extra material in the tummy area to allow for mega expansion! I also wanted to get one with a bit of support for the old melons and this one had a built in shelf support or whatever they call it - it's got a v neck and is just black with white piping round the egdes - looks fine - is quite flattering actually and most of all comfortable. Went for a swim (well more of a float) on sunday afternoon and it was straaaange. Not sure i liked the feeling, i felt scared to swim in case i strained my stomach so was probably looking like a right spaz with my half attempt. I'm hoping to go once a week too - I'm not doing any other excercise (except the odd bit of walking) so want to make a bit of an effort to swim.

Hope you find a cozzy

Love Sarah x

I bought a maternity swimming costume from Next. Swimming was lovely, especially as my bump grew and grew, 'cos the water just took away all the weight. The only problem that I found was that I felt 100 times heavier when I got out of the pool!

Jules

Sarah and Jules

Thanks for that - will go to the proper mothercare not the discount and Jules will look at Next at lunch time - if I can do the walk.
Sarah - must admit to smiling away at the picture of you trying to swim - how are the melons. Mine have been ok for a few weeks but going through another spurt and hurt more again - start needing scaffolding soon.
Will let you know if I get my waterproof melon holder
Love
Tracey
xxxxxxx

I must get me some bra's now because I am starting to feel very uncomfortable. My boobs have gone big and circles gone really dark and I think they look like a map the veins are really noticeable.

We are going away in 3 weeks to Isle of Wight and the hotel we are stopping in as indoor pool and juccuzi I know I can't go in the juccuzi but I may go in the pool but then I would need to get me a new cozzie.

Love
Shell.
xx

WEll rolled my way in the heat to NExt and I am only 16 weeks - just over - goodness know what I will be like at 26 like some of you lot.
NExt had no maternity wear in that store so no good. Went back to the discount mothercare and hey ho they had one swimming costume left in size 12/14 - really wanted 10/12 but it's hardly likely to fall down is it!!!!
It is rather a fetching acqua blue - you know the one and was supposed to be £18 which is reasonable for a cossie - however it was marked at £5.40 which really is a bargain - until you get to the till and they take another 20% off!! so bargain city at £4.20 - just hope it fits!
Shell - I was measured at 8 weeks as by boobs by then were doing my swede in! They went from a 32D ( I am small back but have breasticles!) to a 34F straight off - they are going through another spurt and now I am in the 36's but have to go and get measure again at M&S at 18 weeks so 2 weeks time. I bought an M&S two pack for £20 - one black and one white. Then at this motherccare I just bought some more as they are £4 - thought oooo - splash out and then don't have to keep washing them so much. how sad am I?
Thanks for the help - much appreciated and all I need now is where to buy the "which baby stuff" that suzanna was going on about

Love
Tracey
xxx

[Edited by Tracey S on 14-Aug-03 07:30]

Hi All

Some Next stores do stock maternity clothes - I got all mine from Bluewater and I think Leicester Fosse Park does them too. But otherwise you have to order from them although I think you can get it delivered to your nearest store.

Jules

Hi girls

I stand corrected - it's obvioulsy only my neck of the woods that you can't buy their maternity range in store!!

I've got a combination of Next, Blooming Marvellous and dotty p. I think best buy has to be a pair of jeans from Next. I am alarmed that I have already outgrown a couple of pairs of trousers and i'm not quite 7 months yet.

Jules - did you have that problem? How did you manage with clothes towards the end?? Do they sell maternity tents anywhere??

have a great weekend all. Weather is gorgeous here - nice and sunny but not too hot. I slept so well last night for the first t ime in ages - only had to get up to go to the loo twice which is good for me nowadays!

LOL Helen xx
Hi All

Tracey, I know Fosse Park 'cos my family come from Leicester and every time we visit my Nana, we stop off at Fosse Park to get a chance to visit some decent shops for a change.

Helen, poor you growing out of stuff. I bought quite a few maternity clothes in the next size up 'cos I seemed to grow so rapidly at first and thought I would need them. But I never got that big so wasted my money (shame they're Winter clothes or you could have my stuff). I found the Dorothy Perkins stuff the biggest.

Hope you're all coping with the weather; I'm SO glad I was pregnant through the Autumn/Winter. Take care.

Jules
