My IVF clinic is out of town, so my 6 wk U/S is done here at a hospital...
My Doctor's office doesn't do one until 8 weeks...
THEN, they won't schedule me for a doctor's visit until I'm 12 weeks pregnant!
How about anyone else out there? When is your first OB visit?
It's odd, no wonder so many women who don't know any better don't take folic acid or eat well during the 1st trimester...if a doctor won't see them, how will they educate themselves? Or, is it just my doctor?
Hey WC... I have no idea when I get released to my ob/gyn. I know I read it in all the paperwork from the IVF clinic but haven't looked it up since the start. I think they release me at 8 weeks but I am not sure. When I look it up I will let you know. All I do know is is that my butt is sore and lumpy and I will be on PIO for a few more weeks (always had LP defect).
See you on the PREGNANT board... Did you get your ticker yet?

I first saw my regular ob/gyn when I was about 7 weeks and since then he has been seeing me every 2 weeks. I am now 12 weeks and he still sees me every 2 weeks. I really like that because it is incredible how you can see your little peanut growing soo much. You might want to ask your doctor or look for another.
Cocoa...thank you...
re: Pain in the rear from the shots...Do ask your clinic for a prescription for lidocaine. I did not even feel the needle go in last night.
Couldn't believe it ... before getting the lidocaine I had a melt down and cried like crazy, PAIN PAIN PAIN and LUMPY BUM...my husband felt awful...
I did NOT think Lidocaine would work, but it does. The longer you keep it on (I did around 30 mins late night, thick) the less it hurts...I've been doing it now for around 1 week, and even leaving it on for 10 minutes helps!
ouch
ouch
ouch
feeling your pain!
Also, do you know how you're going to be 'weaned' from the drugs? My clinic won't release me until I'm totally off all the meds...I'm happy for that, I really like my nurse!
I will ask about lidocane at my bw visit tomorrow... thank you...
I do not know how they wean me but from what I gather after my experience with my son 14 years ago (I have a history of luteal phase defect) you just stop after placenta is complete (about 14-15 weeks). That's a long time to take shots but I may be wrong about the timing if the full placenta is confirmed via ultrasound (my pregnancy back then was natural conception so even though I had a lot of us compared to the average I didn't have nearly as many as I am expecting this time around especially if its twins...
Sleepy now so I'll check back later...
