Okay, so I'm getting to the point where all I think about is having this baby! And I was just wondering if some of you would share your labor stories with me. I'm curious as to how your early labor contractions presented themselves. How did you know you were in labor? Did your water break?
I'm just amazed at how different I feel everyday now---it seems like everyday there is a new pain or feeling and just thought some stories of experience could help calm me down here~!
Meg - I saw this and worried. Hadn't heard from you in a bit and thought you were in labor. You are probably having some braxton hicks and some occasional cramps. Have you lost your plug or began to dilate?? I have to be honest and tell you that like with everything else in pregnancy - everyone reacts differently. I was dilated to a 5 for a MONTH. I kept working thinking everyday my water would break while I was teaching and I would have to do a quick explanation to my fourth graders about what they had just witnessed - but that day never came. I had contractions too and in the end I had to be induced. Luckily because I was so dilated, all they had to do was break my water and I naturally did the rest, but unfortunately she will come when she is ready. Many of my fertile friends who have now had 3 since me, all had different scenarios with each pregnancy. A common one has been the feeling like you have really bad gas and getting a bit - shall we say - loose - and then going into labor. And everyone suggests the sex - which I am sure you are feeling quite attractive and active at this point - but I have never met anyone that worked for. I think that is a plan invented by men. Haven't found any significant proof to back that one up. I did walk a lot and ate weird foods but never naturally went into labor.
What are you feeling?

When you go in labor you'll know
.... in my case it was an unmistakable pain (I did have braxton hicks cramps throughout both of my pregnancies)
Oh, and about the sex to induce labor .... worked for me both times .... I also had internal exam at the Dr. office the same day both times ... or maybe it had to do with the combo
And yes, my water broke only with my 2nd .... it was a gush and just kept coming out the entire way to the hospital (1 hr. drive)... at the time I was just trying to go to sleep after a really busy day.... and them boom, my water broke and then I was having labor pains that were 2 min apart
Just try to get all the rest you can
I wish you all the best (and a quick and painless delivery)
Its amazing that there might not be any prep and its hear. I have an elective c-section scheduled for oct 8th but wondering if that is the right choose. I guess we will wait and see . If something happens before then well it happens if I can my mind oh well.

Thanks, Noodle. I'm pretty darned excited to say the least. You're at 18 weeks, huh? You're going into the really fun part of it, in my opinion. That baby starts kicking and man does it become real! Have you felt movement yet?
meg--funny I have felt baby for a while, flipping and I can totally tell when "it's" awake. DH felt HB through my tummy the other night and was a little freaked out.....oh well. I hope your labor goes well, we are going to "Holistic Lamaze" classes in October. I'm going to try and go natural, first sign of pain and I'm getting a shot though......

Hello meg! We met on the Dec-Jan thread! I just wanted to let you know that I've read from reliable sources that drinking vervein herbal tea can help induce labor and it's commonly "prescribed" by midwives. It's actually forbidden during early pregnancy for that very reason: it stimulates uterine contractions.
My two cents!
Take care my dear, and I hope you have a safe and short delivery!
