Hello all and welcome sonu911.

I just had my first scan since being on the Stim medication. I'm a little bit discouraged because I only have 8 possible eggs to be retrieved, I was hoping for a much higher number. I guess I just feel that the higher number the better chances you have. Maybe that's the reason I'm not feeling bloated as the number of eggs is just "ok". RE also told me that I may have a higher pain tollerance for things down below because I have endometriosis and am used to pain down there. RE also told me 6-8 eggs was "ok", 8+ is good and less 3 we'd have to have a talk. My eggs aren't quite mature enough yet so I'm going back in Wednesday morning. ER will probably be Friday or Saturday. My RE also found another endometrioma on my left overy (that's two so far) although she thinks she will be able to go around it during the ER and not have to go through it which is good news I guess. I'm still trying to stay positive but I hope we only get good news from here on out :)

Christin- I'll have to check tonight what the name of the HSG is, I think it says HSG somewhere on the box. You have to keep it in the fridge, so if there is one you have not used yet in the fridge that might be it. I'll let you know that name of it once I get home and check. No worries, I am still learning all this stuff too.

Lala- I also only use the big needle for mixing the Repronex powder and liquid together and then switch it out for a smaller needle once I inject. I've also had a few bleeds when I take the needle out of my tummy, I'm not sure if I hit a vein every once in awhile or what happens. What is the name of the numbing cream? I am so scared for the POI injections, especially because my DH will be traveling the week of Sept. 10th and I'll be doing my own injection  Good luck with your follies, I hope you get LOTS.

Hellokitty- My BB's haven't hurt at all during stimming, but they get sore almost every month the week before AF comes. So sore BB's is pretty normal monthly thing for me.

Where are all you ladies located?

This question is for the ones who hv already experienced IVF!

Did anybody experience white kind of discharge from the swollen BB's after beta hcg confirmed BFN?

Congrats on your scan. I think 8 is terrific. If they say 8+ is "good"..you are just one less than what they term as "good"...which in my mind is fantastic. All you need is one good one, and right now you have about 7 more in the event that one isn't perfect!

Oh, and in terms of where I am located. I live in Louisiana, in the New Orleans area.

lala
I would also like to know the name of the numbing creme. Oh, I was able to get the IVF coordinator to give me 27G 1/2inch needles to use for my Menopur. I am so thrilled about that!

Sonu911
Welcome aboard! We are happy to have you. This is my first time going through any fertility treatment, so I am not sure about the BB question.

Update
I am on day 4 of stimming. I have been able to go through 3 nights of the injections, and not fall apart!! Last night it was tough for me though. I am not sure why. I starting crying. It was my first break down..LOL. I had a hard time getting the needles to go in. I think it is because my tummy is bruised from putting the needles in the same general area over and over. And now, it is like my skin has toughened and doesn't want to allow the needle to go through as easy. So DH was feeling sorry for me last night. So as a pick-me-upper, we went out to get donuts at 9:30pm...LOL. I was craving sprinkle donuts (glaze donuts with choc icing and sprinkles on top). Well, when we got there, they were all out of them. So first thing this morning, DH went out and bought me two for breakfast!!! Was very happy about that. LOL

So I went to the doctor today for more b/w and u/s. They saw 4 follicles on each of my ovaries. On the right ovary, I already had one that was 8mm. The others were mainly 7mm. They said my body seems to be responding really well to the meds. I am waiting to hear back from the IVF coordinator so she can tell me the results of my b/w and what my new dosages are going to be. After seeing the follies, it made the shots well worth it!

Hi Ladies, today is my day 6 stimming. I went in for my 2nd blood test and u/s today and I got a very good report!! RE said I have 10 on one side and 6 on the other. They are in between 7mm to 8mm. I will probably need 5 to 6 more days of stimming as the follies need to be at least 18mm for ER and they grow about 2mm per day. So, I predict that my ER will be on Labor Day or the day after.

The numbing cream that has been working magic for me is called LIDOC/PRILOC 2.5-2. I LOVE IT LOVE IT. I don't feel anything when I inject, only the stinging. Remember to apply it on the site of injection one hour before injection.

Kelly 8 is an excellent number!!! My RE told me that most people get between 8-15. Don't get discouraged, ok? You still have a few days before your ER. I will continue to pray for you :)

I locate in Seattle, Washington.

Sonu911 Welcome, welcome! I am so glad you found us. I've found so much support and shoulders to lean on since joining this group. My stress level also went down because I finally found someone who knows how I feel and what I am talking about!!! Good luck to you!

Christin How are you? Congrats on your day 4 stimming!!! YOU DID IT! Way to go! You know, we all deserve some kind of a bravery award for simply trying IVF. Don't you think so? I don't see any bruises yet on my tummy but it is very sore. I try not to inject in the same area over and over again, so maybe that helps. Aren't the follies adorable? I just love them so much

Hi hellokitty, good to hear that you are now on Lupron. That means things are working well for you. I don't think my BB hurt when I was on BCPs. Are you expecting your AF?

Congrats girl!! :P That is good news. I think you and I are going to have ER on the same day. They are estimating Sept 4th for me (day after Labor day). Is the LIDOC/PRILOC 2.5-2 a Rx or just OTC? I need to get some for me.

Seattle, wow....I bet you have perfect weather right now. It is so darn hot down here. Our temp is still in the 100s for highs. So by the time we get BFPs together, hopefully our weather will be chilling down some so that I can have a comfy pregnancy!

Sonu911
I want to echo what lala said. This is a great place to be. My husband even thinks so. My DH will ask me "How do all of your friends feel today?" or if I have a question, he will say "Go get the thoughts from your IVF friends". I love this message board. It is a wealth of information and support. Plus, the gals on this thread are great! I made my hubby sit down and read our entire thread the other night  It was funny bc he doesn't know all of the lingo or abbreviations, so he kept having to ask me. He was trying to figure out DH. He figured it had something to do with husbands, but he thought it meant something really crude. I will not tell you what he said, but I am sure you can figure it out.

Quick question. I got a call from the IVF coordinator a few minutes ago. They have increased my Follistim to 300 IU. It was 250 IU. Any idea why? Did yall's medicines increase during the cycle? They decreased the Lupron down to 10 units from 20 units a few days ago. I didn't think to ask her why they increased Follistim though. I am hoping it isn't bc they think I may not be responding quick enough. Any ideas gals?

Hi, Ladies!

Glad to hear everyone is where they should be so far! I'm excited that some of you are so close to ER. Good luck!

Sonu911, welcome! I hope you have a great cycle.

Christin, I'm not sure why they change dosage amounts, but they do that to me all the time. I think it's just a way to manipulate what's going on (folly growth and estrogen levels) and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Lala, congrats! That there's a lot of follies! Keep 'em growin'!

Kelly, 8 sounds like a good number to me! Remember, it just takes one.

Update:

I went in for my first scan and bloodwork today (I'm on day 4 of stims). I had a lot of small follicles (none big enough to write home about), but my E2 level was much better this time around. So far, so good. I go back in on Wednesday.

Best,
Julie

Christin The numbing cream is an Rx. Make sure you ask your doc for a prescription. My pharmacy didn't have it in stock. I had to go back the next day for it. So, just make sure don't wait till the last minute for it, ok? When you need it, you need it :D

My doc just called to tell me to keep injecting the same dosage (225IU Bravelle & 75IU Menupur). They only decreased the Lupron from 10 units to 5 units since stimming started. Other than that, everything has stayed the same. Not sure why they changed the dosage???

Have you guys heard that more boys than girls tend to result from IVF?

So when I was at the doctor today I asked them if it was okay to use the numbing creme, and they said yes. They never mentioned getting a RX. I looked around Walgreens for the one you told me earlier, but I didn't find it. So I asked the pharmacist for one, and they gave me L.M.X-4. I am using it tonight for the first time. I hope it is okay since it isn't a RX. What do yall think?

I have also heard that more boys are a result of IVF. I also heard that (at least in ICSI, but assuming for IVF too), that if the fertility issue is a male factor, and if you have a son, chances are the son will have a similar issue bc of the particular chromosone in men ( I can't remember if it is X or Y). My hope is that in 30 years when my son is going through family planning, that medicine has gone through a major overhall and can get them through the fertility issues easier and cheaper than we are having to go through in this day and age.

Hi Ladies,

SONU911 - WELCOME!!! I guess I'm on my third attempt too. I'm send out PMA vibes for all of our BFP!

Kelly - 8 follies is a great number! Look I started out with 21 follies and ended up with 5 fertilized...transferred 3 and only 1 made it to blast. So it is all about quality. Last time I didn't even get one. And who knows what you may actually ended up with...keep the PMA going! I'm in Atlanta, GA and it is super hot!!! So, if you have a breeze send it my way. I guess I am having AF pains now that I think about it.

Christin - Yeah on the follie count.....excellant starting point!! I've had the same thoughts about conceiving a girl. My mom is deceased but I learned from her sister that she had problems conceiving initally. I never knew that. My parents were married for 3 years before they had their first child. I thought me and mom talked about everything. I was 26 when she passed and I never thought to have any conversation like that. I miss her so much and problems like these make me miss her so much more. I plan on telling my daughter about possible PCOS during the "sex" talk.

Lala - I think I did hear that but isn't there a way around that? Something about girl spermies living longer, blah blah....I will try to look into it. Thanks for name of the prescription...I have an appointment on Friday so I will ask for it then. I think I am getting AF....not looking forward to seeing her.

Julieboo - I am soooo glad that everything seems to be better than last time....yahooo!!!

As for me, nothing is going on. I'm looking forward to my appointment on Friday.

Baby dust to all!

All-

I'm located in Utah. It's finally starting to cool down today becasue it's raining but it's supposed to be in the 90's again the rest of this week.

Christin- The HSG medication I have is called "Chorionic Gonado (HSG)" Do you have something similar? I'm glad your DH is pampering you right now, you need it during this time. Congrats on your scan!

Sonu911- I am a first timer so I'm sorry I can't answer your question. But I'm excited that you have been down this path and will be able to answer any questions us 1st timers have. My IVF clinic hasn't changed my dosage at all but I have a friend who did have her dosage change so I know it happens and it's nothing to worry about.

Lala- Congrats on your growing follies! Those are excellent numbers, just keep them growing! I haven't heard about more boys resulting from IVF but the friend I know who did IVF had a boy?? I'll be happy with either. This will be our first baby once we get our BFP.

Julieboo- Keep those follies growing and doing whatever you're doing. It sounds like it's working.

Hellokitty- I'm so sorry to hear you lost your mother :( . That's so young to loose her but know that you will see her again someday. I'll send some rain over your way to cool you down in Atlanta. Once AF starts for you what's your next step?

Good luck to all of you. I have scan #2 tomorrow morning and will hopefully be ready for the trigger shot.

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome!!
Who better than me will understand the importance of this kind of forum...thanks again, ladies!!
I wish I would have known abt this site earlier, then the story would have been different. Anyway, we can't interfere with God's plan.
Frankly speaking, I was in very bad mental state last two times and had hardly anyone to talk to, nobody would understand. My DH was working in Bahrain and the procedure was done with frozen sperms. I guess I was missing him badly. This time, he'll be here...and I am so glad.
By the way, just to let u all know, we both are Indians working in Bahrain. I am a History teacher.

Hey, most of u are very close with each other in ur respective cycles. KELLY u'll be first one to announce BFP here!!
LALA & CHRISTIN - Great!! u guys have numbing cream and I've not used any cream, me with thick skin, i guess. Moreover, after 2 attempts and 3rd ongoing I don't feel the pain anymore only that prick, stinging sensation n finish!
Christin- Iam feeling so bad for the pain, i can understand but u are lucky to have such a loving and caring DH. (i am a bit jealous though!!) You are doing good with ur follies, keep the number increasing and I 'll be soon following ur footsteps.
As for dosages, the units remained same but they were given for 3 extra days during the second time. Both the times, Lupron was decreased fm 20 to 15 units, the day Follitism and Menopur started.
JULIE- All the best fr ur scan on wednesday and I am sure this time u'll have some figures to share with us.
Kiesha-I am so sorry for ur mother, may God rest her soul in peace.
So, we both are 3rd timers and I have a strong feeling for u....guess wat (not difficult)!! Read abt ur past experiences, so ur life has gone full cirlce, it can't get worse than this, circle is spinning and ur good times are coming very soon!!

UPDATE-I am still waiting for AF, n continuing with 20 units of Lupron (we call it Lupride here!!) This time I can't understand why AF is taking so much of time...anxiuosly waiting!!

Kelly
Good luck on Scan #2. I also have another scan tomorrow. I am anxious to see how we have progressed. My med in the fridge is called Ovidrel (choriogonadotropin alfa injection). I am assuming this is the same as yours, which is an HSG.

Kiesha
It breaks my heart to know that you are doing this without your mom. But one thing is for sure, she is cheering you on, every step of the way. I can't wait to hear about your appointment on Friday! I am sure it will be great news!

Sonu911
I will have to let my DH know you said that! It will make his day.
And I am not a counselor or anything, but do know that the mind is a very powerful thing. I am glad to hear that you are in a better state of mind this time around. You have to have faith, and think positive. I am keeping you in my prayers. It is good that your DH is able to be with you during this cycle. That makes a huge difference. I wouldn't want to go through this alone. That would be tough. I don't think I am that strong of a person to do it by myself. Keep up the PMA!!! We are thinking positive with you!

Julie
Can't wait to hear the results of your scan tomorrow! Grow lil' Julie follies, grow!!

Tomorrow is a big day for many of us. So everyone rest up!!

Hi, gals!

Wouldn't you know...After a weekend of enduring my cousin's talk of new motherhood, I find out today that my friend at school (with whom I work closely) is preggers. With her third. I'm happy for her, but...come on! Is everyone pregnant but me? It's like when everyone was getting engaged before I did.

Hellokitty, I'm sad to hear about your mom. I'm sure she's looking out for you, though. Maybe she can put in a good word with the Big Guy. Good luck with everything Friday.

I am a little worried too about having a girl. I don't want to pass this on. However, I don't know where my PCOS came from, since no one else in my family has had it, though diabetes does run in my family.

Kelly, we're back up in the 90s today too. I'm in Chicago. It's supposed to cool down tomorrow, though. I just hope the rain stays away. It looks like a war zone around here with all the fallen trees.

Sonu, glad to hear your DH will be with you this time. I can't imagine not having Mr. Julieboo around to talk to. This forum is a great place to chat with people who are going through the same thing you are, though.

Christin, having any other cravings? I could totally go for a sprinkled donut right about now.

Good luck everyone!
