can cold w/ fever affect my chances of embryo implantation?

Post by kate_rose »

Hi all,

I am doing my first cycle and just had 3 embryos put in 2 days ago (day 3 transfer) so I am officially past the laying around stage.

Unfortunately on the day of the transfer I woke up with a sore throat and now I have a full blown cold with a slight fever etc. (humph!!) I am sure its a cold both because it started pre-transfer and because of the terribly stuffed nose, body aches, etc. Normally I would try to increase my body temp. with a hot bath and a heating pad (seems to speed things along for me) but that seems like a really bad idea. Instead I had a cool shower and am drinking lots of cold water to keep the temp down. It has to be a virus since I am still on assisted hatching meds which include doxycycline.

I am sure this decreases my chances of getting pregnant to some degree but I was hoping maybe someone would be willing to share their wisdom/experience on this situation. Feeling slightly discouraged and of course all these hormones coursing through me are making me a bit leaky.

Thanks,

Kate

Oh Kate - I feel horrible for you. I will tell you that you are doing the right thing though. Rest, drink plenty of fluids and don't take the hot baths, etc. Just try and be as healthy as you can with good foods and rest so your body can fight the cold and help the embies attach. Good luck with it all. I wish you all the best.

Amy,

Thanks for taking time to reply and for the encouraging words. Do you know how long it takes from when they put the little embryos in until they implant. I know its variable but hopefully they had already implanted before the fever set in.

Trying to think positive thoughts and drinking way too much water,

Kate
